This study introduces Polyp-DDPM, a diffusion-based method for generating realistic images of polyps conditioned on masks, aimed at enhancing the segmentation of gastrointestinal (GI) tract polyps. Our approach addresses the challenges of data limitations, high annotation costs, and privacy concerns associated with medical images. By conditioning the diffusion model on segmentation masks - binary masks that represent abnormal areas - Polyp-DDPM outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of image quality (achieving a Fréchet Inception Distance (FID) score of 78.47, compared to scores above 95.82) and segmentation performance (achieving an Intersection over Union (IoU) of 0.7156, versus less than 0.6828 for synthetic images from baseline models and 0.7067 for real data). Our method generates a high-quality, diverse synthetic dataset for training, thereby enhancing polyp segmentation models to be comparable with real images and offering greater data augmentation capabilities to improve segmentation models. In the last ten years, the use of data analytics in health informatics has significantly increased due to the abundance of different types of data. Presently, big data is regarded as an indispensable and auspicious sector of technology for the coming years. It has caught the interest of doctors and scientists. The attraction towards creating analytical models in medical informatics using machine learning has also been heightened as a result. Machine learning, which uses artificial neural networks, has become a powerful tool in recent years. It is expected to greatly impact the future of artificial intelligence. Collecting health information, sharing data, and connecting different aspects of healthcare are very important for providing effective healthcare services. Furthermore, it is extremely important to protect data and maintain privacy as it needs to be accessed from different places in a system that is spread out. © 2024 IEEE.

As in the existing opinion summary data set, more than 70% are positive texts, the current opinion summarization approaches are reluctant to generate the negative opinion summary given the input of negative opinions. To address such sentiment bias, two approaches are proposed through two perspectives: model-specific and model-agnostic. For the model-specific approach, a variational autoencoder is proposed to disentangle the input representation into sentiment-relevant and sentiment-irrelevant components through adversarial loss. Therefore, the sentiment information in the input is kept and employed for the following decoding which avoids interference of content information with emotional signals. To further avoid relying on some specific opinion summarization frameworks, a model-agnostic approach based on counterfactual data augmentation is proposed. A dataset with a more balanced emotional polarity distribution is constructed using a large pre-trained language model based on some pairwise and mini-edited principles. Experimental results show that the sentiment consistency of the generated summaries is significantly improved using the proposed approaches, while their semantics quality is unaffected. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Sleep staging serves as a fundamental assessment for sleep quality measurement and sleep disorder diagnosis. Although current deep learning approaches have successfully integrated multimodal sleep signals, enhancing the accuracy of automatic sleep staging, certain challenges remain, as follows: 1) optimizing the utilization of multi-modal information complementarity, 2) effectively extracting both long- and short-range temporal features of sleep information, and 3) addressing the class imbalance problem in sleep data. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a two-stream encode-decoder network, named TSEDSleepNet, which is inspired by the depth sensitive attention and automatic multi-modal fusion (DSA2F) framework. In TSEDSleepNet, a two-stream encoder is used to extract the multiscale features of electrooculogram (EOG) and electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. And a self-attention mechanism is utilized to fuse the multiscale features, generating multi-modal saliency features. Subsequently, the coarser-scale construction module (CSCM) is adopted to extract and construct multi-resolution features from the multiscale features and the salient features. Thereafter, a Transformer module is applied to capture both long- and short-range temporal features from the multi-resolution features. Finally, the long- and short-range temporal features are restored with low-layer details and mapped to the predicted classification results. Additionally, the Lovász loss function is applied to alleviate the class imbalance problem in sleep datasets. Our proposed method was tested on the Sleep-EDF-39 and Sleep-EDF-153 datasets, and it achieved classification accuracies of 88.9% and 85.2% and Macro-F1 scores of 84.8% and 79.7%, respectively, thus outperforming conventional traditional baseline models. Dipsomania, alcohol addiction that is out of control poses serious problems for public health. Conventional techniques for identifying drunk people depend on behavioral indicators, which are easily manipulated. This article suggests a novel method by employing spectral and spatial graph neural networks (SS-GNN) to create an intelligent face identification model for dipsomania. Facial traits are stored as nodes and edges in a graph structure, and the model uses the special powers of graph neural networks to process and analyses these features. The SS-GNN model that has been suggested is trained on a wide range of facial image datasets that include both drunken and sober states. Advanced methods of data augmentation and domain adaptation are utilized to enhance the model's resilience and applicability to various demographics and environmental circumstances. By combining spectral and spatial information into a graph-based framework, dipsomania-related facial traits can be better understood. This innovative method provides a noninvasive, dependable means of early diagnosis and intervention in cases of alcohol addiction and shows potential for real-time applications in public safety, healthcare, and workplace monitoring. © 2024 IEEE.

Forensic investigations rely heavily on the accurate detection and analysis of crime related objects present at crime scenes. Traditional methods of object detection often involve manual labor and are error prone process to human error. In recent years, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have shown remarkable success in various computer vision tasks, including in object detection. In this article, we introduce ForensicEye, a novel CNN-based crime scene object detection system designed to assist forensic investigators in identifying the objects related to the crime. It utilizes a state-of-the-art CNN architecture trained on a large dataset of crime scene images, enabling robust detection even in challenging lighting and environmental conditions. We evaluated the performance of the ForensicEye on benchmark datasets with various preprocessing techniques, demonstrating its superior accuracy and efficiency compared to traditional methods. Our proposed model achieved the accuracy of 96.2%, precision of 97.9%, Recall of 96.9%, F1-score of 97.4%. © 2024 IEEE.
