Glaucoma is an ocular pathology characterized by the gradual deterioration of neural cells in the eye, which is attributed to elevated intra ocular pressure within the retina. Glaucoma takes the second spot in terms of its prevalence as a neurodegenerative eye disease, failure to diagnose glaucoma at an early stage can lead to complete blindness. This underlying issue requires a streamlined system that uses experienced medical experts, little equipment, and less time. To categories the stages of glaucoma, a computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) method is used called Image Empirical Mode Decomposition (IEMD). Segmentation-based algorithms utilizing features like cup-to-disc ratio (CDR) and textural characteristics close to the optic disc region can distinguish glaucoma. To capture pixel variations for this investigation, the pre-processed fundus images are separated and transformed into a diverse range of intrinsic mode function (IMFs). The study employs deep learning-based framework for finding the optic nerve head from coloured fundus photographs, to transform the fundus images into a delimited region of interest (ROI) and utilizes multiple deep networks like RFCN and RCNN classifiers identified glaucoma stages separately. The CAD system serves as an automated tool for retinal image processing and demonstrates superior performance over the RFCN classifier, achieving an impressive accuracy of 96% with the RCNN classifier in classifying glaucoma stages. © 2024, ICST institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

IoT is becoming increasingly popular due to its quick expansion and variety of applications. In addition, 5G technology helps with communication and network connectivity. This work integrates C-RAN with IoT networks to provide an experimental 5G testbed. In a 5G IoT environment, this experience is utilized to enhance both perpendicular and flat localization (3D localization). DRCaG, an acronym for the proposed model, stands for a deep, complicated network with a gated layer on top. The performance of the proposed model has been demonstrated through extensive simulations in terms of learning reduction, accuracy, and matrix disorientation, with a variable signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) spanning from 20 dB to + 20 dB, which illustrates the superiority of DRCaG compared to others. An online, end-to-end solution based on deep learning techniques is presented in this study for the fast, precise, reliable, and automatic detection of diverse petty crime types. By detecting tiny crimes like hostility, bag snatching, and vandalism, the suggested system may not only identify unusual passenger behavior like vandalism and accidents but also improve passenger security. Secure communication routing and attack detection in UAV networks using Gannet Walruses optimization algorithm and Sheppard Convolutional Spinal Network

Unmanned Aerial vehicles (UAV) are high-speed moving machines that attained rapid growth in various activities and are considered an integral component in the Satellite-Air -Ground-Sea (SAGS) incorporated network. However, UAVs are affected by communication delays and malicious attacks. Therefore, an adequate and secure communication routing and attack detection model is necessary for UAV communication networks. This research described a novel approach for initiating secure communication in UAV networks namely Gannet Walruses Optimization Algorithm + Sheppard Convolutional Spinal Network (GWOA + ShCSpinalNet). Initially, the UAV network is simulated, and the data packets are transmitted among the nodes using optimal routing paths. An optimal routing path is computed using the Gannet Walruses Optimization Algorithm (GWOA) by considering some multi-objective functions through the Deep Recurrent Neural Network (DRNN). The developed GWAO integrates Gannet Optimization (GOA) and Walruses Optimization (WaOA). The data communication is done through monitoring agents. The newly devised Sheppard Convolutional Spinal Network (ShCSpinalNet) is utilized as a decision-making agent for malicious attack detection. The attributes considered for decision-making are round trip time, packet delivery ratio, the strength of the signal, the size of the packet, and the number of incoming packets. Once the SpinalNet categorizes the normal and attacked nodes the defense agent is implemented for attack migration. The ShCSpinalNet is devised by the combination of the Sheppard Convolutional Neural Network and Spinal Network. The GWOA + ShCSpinalNet accomplishes a diminished delay of 0.614 s, an increased detection rate of 0.930%, an energy of 0.439 J, and a Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) of 0.749. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Sparse matrix-matrix multiplication (SpMM) is a critical computational kernel in numerous scientific and machine learning applications. SpMM involves massive irregular memory accesses and poses great challenges to conventional cache-based computer architectures. Recently dedicated SpMM accelerators have been proposed to enhance SpMM performance. However, current SpMM accelerators still face challenges in adapting to varied sparse patterns, fully exploiting inherent parallelism, and optimizing cache performance. To address these issues, we introduce ACES, a novel SpMM accelerator in this study. First, ACES features an adaptive execution flow that dynamically adjusts to diverse sparse patterns. The adaptive execution flow balances parallel computing efficiency an d da ta re use. Se cond, ACES incorporates locality-concurrency co-optimizations within the global cache. ACES utilizes a concurrency-aware cache management policy, which considers data locality and concurrency for optimal replacement decisions. Additionally, the integration of a non-blocking buffer with the global cache enhances concurrency and reduces computational stalls. Brain tumors represent a critical condition characterized by the abnormal growth of cells in specific brain regions, potentially forming life-threatening masses. Early diagnosis is crucial for prompt treatment, yet the laborious and time-consuming human analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can cause significant delays. Recent advancements in deep learning have revolutionized healthcare and medical diagnostics, offering promising solutions to these challenges. Given the constraint of limited datasets, improving deep learning algorithms, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), becomes essential. Data augmentation techniques effectively address dataset limitations, enabling the training of various CNN architectures such as VGG16, EfficientNetB0, MobileNetV2, and DenseNet121. These models are compared using evaluation metrics like accuracy and other standard classification metrics, with the VGG model demonstrating superior performance, achieving a notable 97% accuracy rate. This research underscores the potential of deep learning and CNNs in accelerating brain tumor identification from MRI images, emphasizing the advantages of different CNN architectures in medical applications. © 2024 IEEE.

DeepWare: Imaging Performance Counters With Deep Learning to Detect Ransomware

In the year passed, rarely a month passes without a ransomware incident being published in a newspaper or social media. In addition to the rise in the frequency of ransomware attacks, emerging attacks are very effective as they utilize sophisticated techniques to bypass existing organizational security perimeter. To tackle this issue, this paper presents 'DeepWare,' which is a ransomware detection model inspired by deep learning and hardware performance counter (HPC). Different from previous works aiming to check all HPC results returned from a single timing for every running process, DeepWare carries out a simple yet effective concept of 'imaging hardware performance counters with deep learning to detect ransomware,' so as to identify ransomware efficiently and effectively. To be more specific, DeepWare monitors the system-wide change in the distribution of HPC data. By imaging the HPC values and restructuring the conventional CNN model, DeepWare can address HPC's nondeterminism issue by extracting the event-specific and event-wise behavioral features, which allows it to distinguish the ransomware activity from the benign one effectively. The experiment results across ransomware families show that the proposed DeepWare is effective at detecting different classes of ransomware with the 98.6% recall score, which is 84.41%, 60.93%, and 21% improvement over RATAFIA, OC-SVM, and EGB models respectively. DeepWare achieves an average MCC score of 96.8% and nearly zero false-positive rates by using just a 100 ms snapshot of HPC data. This timeliness of DeepWare is critical on the ground that organizations and individuals have the opportunity to take countermeasures in the first stage of the attack. Besides, the experiment conducted on unseen ransomware families such as CoronaVirus, Ryuk, and Dharma demonstrates that DeepWare has excellent potential to be a useful tool for zero-day attack detection. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

Lung and Colon Cancer Classification of Histopathology Images Using Convolutional Neural Network

The greatest significant contributor to cancer-related morbidity and mortality worldwide is malignant lung tumors. Lung cancer frequency has been seen to be on the rise recently. Lung cancer histopathology diagnosis is a crucial part of the patient’s treatment. The current study aims to demonstrate the efficiency of convolutional neural networks for the identification of squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma of the lung and colon by investigating the diagnosis of histopathology images. Five state-of-the-art pre-trained (ImageNet) convolutional neural network architectures, VGG-19, InceptionResNetV2, DenseNet201, EfficientNetB6, and MobileNetV2, are employed in this investigation to tri-categorize lung cancer images (normal, adenocarcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma), together with colon cancer images (normal and adenocarcinoma). Regularization strategies have been applied to fine-tune the learning rate for improving accuracy. The LC25000 dataset has been used to validate the proposed method. EfficientNetB6, VGG19, InceptionResNetV2, DenseNet201, and MobileNetV2 accuracy on test data is reported to be 93.12, 98.00, 97.92, 99.12, and 99.32 percent respectively. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Gesture and voice control are increasingly being used in everyday applications, such as tablets and smartphones, but also for controlling smart home systems or even drones. While several studies exist on how users interact with and issue commands to drones, studies using drones in very specific and highly specialized use cases are rare. In a user-centered approach with twelve German police officers, we examined how police forces would trigger drone functions through self-defined gestures and voice commands. For the study, we considered two deployment scenarios with a total of 21 functions that were developed together with the police. The focus here is on use in large crowds and the pursuit of suspects. We identify sets of custom gestures and possible voice commands. © 2022 ACM.

Wind speed forecasting is important for wind energy *** the modern era,the increase in energy demand can be managed effectively by fore-casting the wind speed *** main objective of this research is to improve the performance of wind speed forecasting by handling uncertainty,the curse of dimensionality,overﬁtting and non-linearity *** curse of dimensionality and overﬁtting issues are handled by using Boruta feature *** uncertainty and the non-linearity issues are addressed by using the deep learning based Bi-directional Long Short Term Memory(Bi-LSTM).In this paper,Bi-LSTM with Boruta feature selection named BFS-Bi-LSTM is proposed to improve the performance of wind speed *** model identiﬁes relevant features for wind speed forecasting from the meteorological features using Boruta wrapper feature selection(BFS).Followed by Bi-LSTM predicts the wind speed by considering the wind speed from the past and future time *** proposed BFS-Bi-LSTM model is compared against Multilayer perceptron(MLP),MLP with Boruta(BFS-MLP),Long Short Term Memory(LSTM),LSTM with Boruta(BFS-LSTM)and Bi-LSTM in terms of Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Error(MAE),Mean Square Error(MSE)and *** BFS-Bi-LSTM surpassed other models by producing RMSE of 0.784,MAE of 0.530,MSE of 0.615 and R2 of *** experimental result shows that the BFS-Bi-LSTM produced better forecasting results compared to others.

Electricity Cost Minimization for Multi-Workflow Allocation in Geo-Distributed Data Centers

Worldwide, Geo-distributed Data Centers (GDCs) provide computing and storage services for massive workflow applications, resulting in high electricity costs that vary depending on geographical locations and time. How to reduce electricity costs while satisfying the deadline constraints of workflow applications is important in GDCs, which is determined by the execution time of servers, power, and electricity price. Determining the completion time of workflows with different server frequencies can be challenging, especially in scenarios with heterogeneous computing resources in GDCs. Moreover, the electricity price is also different in geographical locations and may change dynamically. To address these challenges, we develop a geo-distributed system architecture and propose an Electricity Cost aware Multiple Workflows Scheduling algorithm (ECMWS) for servers of GDCs with fixed frequency and power. ECMWS comprises four stages, namely workflow sequencing, deadline partitioning, task sequencing, and resource allocation where two graph embedding models and a policy network are constructed to solve the Markov Decision Process (MDP). After statistically calibrating parameters and algorithm components over a comprehensive set of workflow instances, the proposed algorithms are compared with the state-of-the-art methods over two types of workflow instances. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm significantly outperforms other algorithms, achieving an improvement of over 15% while maintaining an acceptable computational time.
