Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) refer to the synergistic or antagonistic effects between different drugs. Synergistic effects can enhance therapeutic efficacy, while antagonistic effects may reduce efficacy or even trigger adverse reactions, worsening the patient's condition. Most existing DDI prediction studies overlook the features of chemical bonds between atoms within drug molecules and the interaction types between drug pairs, which to some extent limits the accuracy and reliability of the predictions. In view of this, we have designed a novel framework called KGE-DDI, which leverages knowledge graph embedding (KGE) technology to enhance the prediction of DDIs. Specifically, for individual drug molecules, KGE-DDI first integrates the features of atoms and chemical bond. Then, by introducing attention mechanisms and graph neural network technology, it learns representations of the drug molecules. For pairs of drug molecules, KGE-DDI models their interactions utilizing atom-level Pearson correlation matrices. Finally, it predicts the interactions between drug pairs by employing our designed scoring function. We conducted comprehensive experiments under both transductive and inductive settings, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of KGE-DDI in three scenarios: (existing drug, existing drug), (new drug, new drug), and (new drug, existing drug). © 2024 IEEE.

Traditional Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms for coherent signals in uniform circular array (UCA), such as mode space transformation, allow for the adaptation of advanced algorithms initially developed for uniform linear arrays to be applied effectively in UCA. However, after mode space transformation, the array will encounter aperture loss and will also be unable to perform two-dimensional DOA estimation effectively. In this paper, we propose a new method that that integrates covariance matrix element transformation with the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) to estimate the DOA of coherent signals in various symmetric antenna arrays, including UCA. The algorithm leverages the phase difference symmetry of the antenna array to decorrelate the incoming signals, effectively restoring the full rank of the covariance matrix. Subsequently, it employs two-dimensional MUSIC for DOA estimation. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Given maize’s significant role as a staple crop, it becomes imperative to carry out precise crop yield prediction to ensure food security. This research employs machine learning algorithms to analyze historical data related to maize crop yields, with the aim of developing a predictive model. The outcome of this study can serve as a valuable tool for pre-harvest planning and measuring crop production per unit of land area. The dataset utilized in this research spans from 2010 to 2021 and was sourced from Ethiopia’s Central Statistical Agency. Three machine learning regression algorithms—Logistic Regression, XGBoost, and Random Forest—were employed to design the predictive model. After data preparation and preprocessing, a total of 436,358 records were used for model development. The models were further trained with reduced features using principal component analysis (PCA). The experimental results demonstrate that the Random Forest algorithm, trained with a reduced number of features through PCA, yielded superior performance, with a lower error rate and a high R2 score of 0.98. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The recent large-scale text-to-image generative models have attained unprecedented performance, while people established adaptor modules like LoRA and DreamBooth to extend this performance to even more unseen concept tokens. However, we empirically find that this workflow often fails to accurately depict the out-of-distribution concepts. This failure is highly related to the low quality of training data. To resolve this, we present a framework called Controllable Adaptor Towards Out-of-Distribution Concepts (CATOD). Our framework follows the active learning paradigm which includes high-quality data accumulation and adaptor training, enabling a finer-grained enhancement of generative results. The aesthetics score and concept-matching score are two major factors that impact the quality of synthetic results. One key component of CATOD is the weighted scoring system that automatically balances between these two scores and we also offer comprehensive theoretical analysis for this point. Then, it determines how to select data and schedule the adaptor training based on this scoring system. The extensive results show that CATOD significantly outperforms the prior approaches with an 11.10 boost on the CLIP score and a 33.08% decrease on the CMMD metric. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. As the new generation of power scheme, smart grid is proposed to overcome the shortcomings of traditional systems, such as low efficiency and reliability. In this article, a novel lattice-based secure primitive for privacy-preserving smart grid communications is proposed, which has the remarkable characteristics, such as scalable multi-dimensional fine-grained power data structure and differential privacy security. First, combining with the lattice-based data encryption technology, while effectively resisting quantum attacks, the method of simultaneous processing of multi-dimensional data is innovated. Second, through combining the additive homomorphism of the lattice-based cryptosystem and the Chinese remainder theorem, the data aggregation mechanism that can directly perform homomorphic operations on compressed ciphertext is constructed. Thanks to the above innovative design ideas, the proposed scheme not only significantly improves the efficiency of data communication and processing, greatly reduces the computational cost of the intermediate entity, but also realizes the data confidentiality and information privacy. Finally, observing the decentralized topology of communication nodes in the typical cyber-physical system of smart grid, the localized differential privacy technology is leveraged to optimize and balance the utility, security, and efficiency of differential privacy. Extensive performance evaluations are conducted to illustrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the state-of-the-art similar schemes in terms of computation complexity and communication cost. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) have enabled the development of tools to address issues in Virtual Classrooms. This research focuses on utilizing AI and ML to monitor student behavior in virtual classrooms by analyzing facial expressions, background noise, and keystroke patterns. An AI based approach is proposed to analyze real-time webcam data, detecting patterns of inattention, and notifying teachers accordingly. The application also monitors background noise levels, identifying non-conducive learning environments, and analyzes keystroke patterns to detect unrelated activities. The research draws from academic literature to evaluate the effectiveness of the application while considering ethical implications such as potential bias and student privacy protection. Overall, this study contributes to the existing literature on AI and ML-based applications in education, demonstrating how these technologies can revolutionize student behavior monitoring, leading to enhanced outcomes for virtual classroom learning. © 2023 IEEE.

There is rising public concern about exposure to radiofrequency (RF) electromagnetic fields (EMF) as more and more wireless communications become concentrated in everyday living surroundings. There are a number of obstacles, primarily originating from infrastructure expenses, but recent technology breakthroughs are shifting attention to Internet of Things (IoT) devices that enable automatic and continuous real-time EMF monitoring. The Internet of Things (IoT) has made the world a better place by expanding the capabilities of telemedicine and allowing for more precise remote monitoring of patients. Improved healthcare facilities for both patients and doctors/hospitals are only one way that IoT is making a significant impact in the medical field. Five main parts make up the proposed system: patient data gathering, primary report creation, hospital care, pharmacy care, and diagnostics. This study presents an Internet of Things (IoT)-based healthcare scheme accomplished of real-time nursing of energetic signs and environmental factors for discrete patients. Five sensors, including a heart-rate monitor, a body temperature monitor, a room temperature monitor, a carbon monoxide monitor, and a carbon dioxide monitor, are utilised to collect data from the hospital setting. Medical personnel receive patient updates through a portal and use this data for further diagnosis and care. The success of the system demonstrates that the built prototype is ideal for healthcare monitoring. This study has investigated unique approaches to the automatic construction of convolutional neural network (CNN) topologies, and it has also developed a new method for diagnosis. The results of the trials prove that the recommended algorithm achieves improved than the state-of-the-art techniques. © 2023 IEEE.
