Securing the transfer of data in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) is still a challenging issue. This paper proposes a method for providing message security in MANETs when nodes cooperate in routing. Our approach combines a trust-based multipath routing scheme and a real-time recurrent neural network-based (RRNN) cipher (yielding our so-called TR-RRNN scheme) to deal with the issues underlying message confidentiality, integrity, and access control. Simulation experiments using QualNet were conducted, showing that the proposed scheme is much more secured compared to the traditional multi-path routing algorithms and a recently proposed message security scheme for MANETs (our so- called Original Trust-based Multi-path Routing scheme (OTMR)). The route selection time and trust compromise are used as the performance criteria.

The hybrid minimum principle (HMP) is extended to hybrid systems with autonomous (internally forced) switching on switching manifolds, controlled (externally forced) switching, jumps of the continuous state when switching, and time-varying functions for specifying the continuous and discrete dynamics. The formulation of the hybrid optimal control problem (HOCP) includes running, switching, and terminal costs. The HMP provides necessary optimality conditions for a solution of the HOCP and can be used as basis for developing numerical optimal control algorithms.

Parallel RTS Processing MAC Protocol (PRP-MAC) can improve network throughput, but data packets are not always sent in a synchronized way. So PRP-MAC still produces the packet collisions in the network, which impact the performance of the network. In this paper, we proposed an improved PRP-MAC called IPRP-MAC protocol. This protocol can avoid collisions by using 3 types of CTS packets which are used to make sure the transmitters sent the data packets synchronously. Finally, the simulation results show that IPRP-MAC can enhance the network throughput compared to PRP-MAC.

In this paper, we review the main concept and the developing method of Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT), which is the novel and high-efficiently nonlinear and non-stationary data analysis method. HHT is composed of Empirical Mode Decomposition(EMD) and Hilbert Spectral Analysis(HSA). Numerical experiments demonstrate the advantages of HHT at outliers detection for inter-wave modulation signal compared with wavelet decomposition. Furthermore, based on the HHT and EEMD, a new frequency analysis method for intra-wave modulation signal is proposed. Simulation shows that the proposed method tracks the frequency of intra-wave modulation signal precisely.

In this paper, an handwritten character recognition system based on acceleration is presented. The character recognition system using a 3-dimensional (3D) accelerometer, includes three procedures: original signal detection, signal processing (preprocessing and quantization) and recognition/classification. In quantization procedure, Trajectory Orientation (TO) and Curve Feature (CF) are adopted and compared. In recognition procedure, Fully-connected Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and Left-Right HMM are both implemented and compared. The system, in the recognition of 10 Arabic numerals, achieves the Correct Rate(CR) of 99.05% and the Total Correct Rate (TCR) of 94.76%.
