This paper presents an integrated decision support system for an automated melanoma recognition of dermoscopic images based on multiple expert fusion. In this context, the ultimate aim is to support decision making by predicting image categories (e.g., melanoma, benign and dysplastic nevi) by combining outputs from different classifiers. A fast and automatic segmentation method to detect the lesion from the background healthy skin is proposed and lesion-specific local color and texture-related features are extracted. For the classification, combining experts which are classifiers with different structures, are examined as alternative solution instead of an individual classifier. In this approach, probabilistic outputs of the experts are combined based on the combination rules that are derived by following Bayespsila theorem. The category label with the highest confidence score is considered to be the class of a test image. Experimental results on a collection of 358 dermoscopic images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed expert fusion-based approach.

Among several contour splitting algorithms drop-fall algorithm is convenient and accurate for separating handwritten numerals. A set of drop-fall algorithms can produce four possible cutting paths. Based on four drop-fall algorithms, this paper deals with a pattern-oriented strategy for segmenting touching digits in order to solve the problem of determining which drop-fall algorithm producing the best separation. In this strategy, background region of touching digits is analyzed by using water reservoirs concept at first, and then the classification scheme is developed to identify the pattern of touching digits according to the structural features extracted from the specified background region. To split touching digits, the pattern-oriented strategy is implemented by choosing one suitable drop-fall algorithm applied to the pattern of current touching digits in terms of its performance characteristic. Experimental results show that the proposed strategy is effective for segmentation of handwritten touching digits.

An incidence coloring of graph G is a coloring of its incidences in which neighborly incidences are assigned di erent colors. In this paper, the incidence coloring of outerplanar graphs is discussed using the techniques of exchanging colors and the double inductions from the aspect of con guration property. Results show that there exists a (D + 2,2)-incidence coloring in every outerplanar graph, where D is the maximum degree of outerplanar graph.

Still, requirements and software design are often confused with one another. We provide a new (partial) explanation for this phenomenon, based on the insight that representations of concepts related to requirements and software design, respectively, may sometimes look very similar. This does not mean, however, that the requirements and design concepts are the same. So, we should distinguish requirements from their representations and, analogously, software design from its representation. Then it is easier to clearly distinguish requirements and software design as well.

Recently, combining a video recording of a presentation along with the digital slides used in it has become popular in e-learning and presentation of archives. For users of the archives, it is useful to preview a digest of such content to grasp the atmosphere and/or an outline of the presentation. This paper proposes a method of automatic digest generation by extracting important scenes from the presentation content. The extracted scenes are chosen based on several factors such as frequency and specificity of words, scene duration and order. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed methods are evaluated by comparing with testers' answer sets for actual lectures.

This article gives a capsule view of research on rough set theory and applications ongoing at universities and laboratories in China. In novel market-oriented resource sharing models, resource consumers pay for the resource usage and expect that non-functional requirements for the application execution, termed as quality of service (QoS), are satisfied. QoS is negotiated between two parties following the specific negotiation protocols and is recorded using service level agreements (SLAs). However, most of the existing work assumes that the communication partners know about the SLA negotiation protocols and about the SLA templates before entering the negotiation. However, this is a contradictory assumption, if we consider computational grids and novel, commercially oriented computing clouds where consumers and providers meet each other dynamically. In this paper, we present novel meta-negotiation and SLA-mapping solutions for grid workflows bridging the gap between current QoS models and grid workflows, one of the most successful grid programming paradigms. We illustrate the open research issues with a real world case study. Thereafter, we present document models for the specification of meta-negotiations and SLA-mappings. We discuss the architecture for the management of meta-negotiations and SLA-mappings as well as integration of the architecture into a grid workflow management framework.

A self-learning model based on Genetic Algorithms is put forward with application to path tracking in computer Generated Forces (CGF). On the basis of Agent, the model is constructed to improve the autonomous performance of CGF entities under path tracking environments. First, the framework of the proposed self-learning model is presented. Second, it elaborates the realization, including the principles of condition and action parts of the rule, and the fitness function design. Finally, the parameters and the generalization ability are analyzed in detail. A visible validation system is established to verify the availability and feasibility of the presented self-learning model.

After the modification of the fuzzy ART neural network operations, An algorithm based on fuzzy ART neural network which can deal with online-learning and recognition of the known and unknown faces at the same time is designed and realized. The simulation experiment results show an online maximum recognition rate is 86.3％ and offline recognition rates are nearly 100％ when the proper network parameters are selected. 400 images of 40 persons in the publicly available AT&T face database are used for simulation experiment.

The efficiency of a Peer-to-Peer file sharing overlay is measured in terms of the scalability and versatility of its object lookup strategy. In these networks peers carry out distributed query relaying to discover the service providers. Existing lookup mechanisms like flooding and random walks in unstructured P2P overlays create huge communication overhead and increased response time. In this work we propose efficient lookup in unstructured peer-to- peer overlay networks using indexing through querying, distributing indices through queries. Our simulation studies show that by our approach more than 97% of the queries are answered in one hop and the rest in few hops thus reducing the network load. Our approach is efficient in worst case scenarios where contents are distributed over thousands of peers and the overlay network condition is highly dynamic.
