Observer design for a class of distributed parameter systems based on the so called hyperbolic observer canonical form (o.c.f.) is considered. The method relies on the tight relation between hyperbolic d.p.s. and functional differential equations (f.d.e.). Based on an input-output description given in form of a f.d.e. and a parametrization of the original "physical" coordinates by the system's input and output trajectories, the transformation to the o.c.f. is calculated using another set of coordinates. These coordinates are associated with the hyperbolic observability form and correspond to the restriction of the output trajectory to a certain interval. The proposed method is illustrated on the basis of the one-dimensional wave equation with dynamic boundary conditions.

In order to adapt to the construction needs of the smart grid, smart substation need to solve the problem of protocol conversion between the conventional non-standardized condition monitoring equipment and the standardized monitoring system. This paper proposed a realization method of conversion method between Modbus and IEC61850. Object-oriented technology is used for information model on Modbus. After the analysis of IEC61850 and MMS information and service model, to establish the model mapping relationship between IEC61850, MMS and Modbus based on the principle of minimum information point which is one to one correspondence. Combined with the implementation of SISCO MMS-EASE LITE software development kit programming, giving a realization method using QT programming techniques based on the mapping model. Finally, the establishment the interval controller as an example of protocol scheme verifies the correctness and the feasibility of protocol conversion method.

In this paper, the break-away and break-in(BABI) condition used in root-locus approach for two-parameter linear control systemsis derived. The condition for one-parameter control system can also be obtained from those results, which agrees with the well-known results by using sensitivity function(e.g., Kuo, 2009). Based on those conditions, an algorithm is proposed to construct the PD control gains of linear control systems for meeting designed specifications of timing response. Compared with the conventional design by using root-contours, the proposed approach can give a guideline for choosing control gains instead of those obtained by trial-and-error from the root-contours scheme. An example of the 3rd-order linear systemwith PD control is also given to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed design.

The paper deals with the problem of automatic model selection of the nonlinear characteristic in a block-oriented dynamic system. We look for the parametric model of Hammerstein system nonlinearity. From the finite set of candidate classes of parametric models we select the best one on the basis of the input-output measurement data, using the concept of nearest neighbour borrowed from pattern recognitions techniques. The algorithm uses the pattern of the true characteristic generated by its nonparametric estimates on the grid of fixed (e.g. equidistant) points. Each class generates parametrized learning sequence through the values on the same grid of points. Next, for each class, the optimal parameters are computed by the least squares method. Finally, the nearest neighbour approach is applied for the selection of the best model in the mean square sense. The idea is presented on the exemplary competition between polynomial, exponential and piece-wise linear models of the same complexity (i.e. number of parameters needed to be stored in memory). For all classes, the upper bounds of the integrated approximation errors of the true characteristic are computed and compared.
