In this article we introduce our approach to exploit multiscale wavelet methods for texture defect detection. Several wavelet bases and decomposition algorithms are examined in regard of applicability, parameterization and computational costs. The article points out specific problems in localizing texture defects in multiscale wavelet representations. Besides the fast dyadic wavelet transform we demonstrate the application of the translation invariant a trous algorithm on texture samples. Feature extraction methods are proposed and examples of successful defect classification results are shown.

This paper presents the approach to modeling of production line to the selection of its optimal configuration and to optimization of its performance. The model of production line considering with any perturbation is based on the generalized Markov process. The selection of resources for production line configuration, scheduling of the production task and determination of control sequences uses the decision making. Via simulation is verified the developed approach using a fictitious production line.

In the paper we introduce a concept of a simple useful extension of place/transition Petri nets based on a generalisation of the algebra used in the net dynamics. This extension enables to use not only nonnegative integers as states (markings) of places and mainly not exclusively the operation of addition in the net dynamics, but elements of an arbitrary commutative monoid (H, ⊕), in which for every a, b from H the equation x ⊕ a = b has maximally one solution from H, to be states and the operation of the monoid in the net dynamics as well. By other words in presented extension the state set and the operation used in the net dynamics are parameters. Such extended definition preserves the advantages given by the state equation and covers standard place/transition nets, which are understood as its special subclass.

Force-torque analysis of open serial kinematic structures is considered in this work. Vector representation of force and torque balance equalities embody the common starting point of both the direct and the inverse task of the static analysis. The direct task is to establish prismatic joint forces and revolute joint torques, caused by an external endpoint force, torque, and the gravity of links, in the given endpoint position and orientation. The inverse kinematics is involved in this problem. Redundant structures admit additional restrictions in the form of the cost function depending on joint variables. The inverse task is to establish the external force and torque, having measured forces in prismatic and torques in revolute joints in the given position of joints. The aim of the paper is to present the solution of the direct task and the way how to construct equations for the inverse force-torque task.

In the present paper the artificial neural network model of a robot joint is presented. The data used come from the real measurements on the first joint of Manutec R15 robot. The measured data correspond to the motor current and to the joint position, so that they include nonlinear phenomena like friction, backlash or stiffness present in the joint. For modelling of the robot joint based on the measured data the modification of CMAC neural network, the so called generalized CMAC (GCMAC), is used.

An alternative approach to the discrete-event dynamic systems (DEDS) control is presented. Petri nets are used to express analytically the DEDS model and to represent knowledge about the control task specifications. Both the DEDS model and the knowledge base are simultaneously used in the procedure of the control system synthesis. The elementary control possibilities are generated (by means of the DEDS model) in any step of the procedure and tested with respect to the existence conditions. When there are several possibilities satisfying the conditions the most suitable control possibility is chosen by means of the knowledge base. The proposed approach is illustrated on a simple flexible manufacturing system.
