The paper presents the integration and experiments with a pilot cell including a traditional machine tool and an innovative robot-swarm cooperative conformable support for aircraft body panels. The pilot was installed and tested in the premises of the aircraft manufacturer Piaggio Aerospace in Italy. An original approach to the support of the panels is realized: robots with soft heads operate from below the panel;they move upward the panel where manufacturing is performed, removing the sagging under gravity and returning it to its nominal geometry;the spindle of amilling machine performs the machining from above. © 2017 The Authors

In the paper the Cardinality Constrained Knapsack Problem is considered. It is a variant of the Continuous Knapsack Problem in which no more than a specified number of variables are allowed to have positive values. This problem arises when a limited resource is allocated among competing activities, and an upper bound is imposed on the number of activities that can be selected in a solution. The Cardinality Constrained Knapsack Problem is NP-hard. We analyze the structural properties of its optimal solutions and propose procedure allowing to reduce the size of the original problem.

We suppose that a structure working as a quantum switch will be a significant element of future networks realizing transmissions of quantum information. In this chapter we analyze a process of switch’s operating – especially in systems with a noise presence. The noise is caused by a phenomenon of quantum decoherence, i.e. distorting of quantum states because of an environmental influence, and also by some imperfections of quantum gates’ implementation. In the face of mentioned problems, the possibility of tracing the switch’s behavior during its operating seems very important. To realize that we propose to utilize a Coherence measure which, as we present in this chapter, is sufficient to describe operating of the quantum switch and to verify correctness of this process. It should be also stressed that the value of Coherence measure may be estimated by a quantum circuit, designed especially for this purpose. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper is an exploratory study on architects' attitudes towards risk and its influences on the architectural decision-making process. A classification of architects' attitude to risk-taking has been developed on the basis of Fowler's Technical Debt Quadrants. The core proposition of the paper is that the well-established concept of `risk appetite' can be equally well applied to characterise and classify architects' attitudes towards risk. This enables the aspects of the decision-making process that are influenced by architects' attitudes towards risks to be identified, and reveals what these influences are. It has been shown that the proposed classifications reflect many real-world situations.

This paper presents a database of iris images collected from disease affected eyes and an analysis related to the influence of ocular diseases on iris recognition reliability. For that purpose we have collected a database of iris images acquired for 91 different eyes during routine ophthalmology visits. This collection gathers samples for healthy eyes as well as those with various eye pathologies, including cataract, acute glaucoma, posterior and anterior synechiae, retinal detachment, rubeosis iridis, corneal vascularization, corneal grafting, iris damage and atrophy and corneal ulcers, haze or opacities. To our best knowledge this is the first database of such kind that will be made publicly available. In the analysis the data were divided into five groups of samples presenting similar anticipated impact on iris recognition: 1) healthy (no impact), 2) unaffected, clear iris (although the illness was detected), 3) geometrically distorted irides, 4) distorted iris tissue and 5) obstructed iris tissue. Three different iris recognition methods (MIRLIN, VeriEye and OSIRIS) were then used to find differences in average genuine and impostor comparison scores calculated for healthy eyes and those impacted by a disease. Specifically, we obtained significantly worse genuine comparison scores for all iris matchers and all disease-affected eyes when compared to a group of healthy eyes, what have a high potential of impacting false non-match rate. This paper presents an analysis of how iris recognition is influenced by eye disease and an appropriate dataset comprising 2996 images of irises taken from 230 distinct eyes (including 184 affected by more than 20 different eye conditions). The images were collected in near infrared and visible light during routine ophthalmological examination. The experimental study carried out utilizing four independent iris recognition algorithms (MIRLIN, VeriEye, OSIRIS and IriCore) renders four valuable results. First, the enrollment process is highly sensitive to those eye conditions that obstruct the iris or cause geometrical distortions. Second, even those conditions that do not produce visible changes to the structure of the iris may increase the dissimilarity between samples of the same eyes. Third, eye conditions affecting the geometry or the tissue structure of the iris or otherwise producing obstructions significantly decrease same-eye similarity and have a lower, yet still statistically significant, influence on impostor comparison scores. Fourth, for unhealthy eyes, the most prominent effect of disease on iris recognition is to cause segmentation errors. To our knowledge this paper describes the largest database of iris images for disease-affected eyes made publicly available to researchers and offers the most comprehensive study of what we can expect when iris recognition is employed for diseased eyes. This chapter provides insight on how iris recognition, one of the leading biometric identification technologies in the world, can be impacted by pathologies and illnesses present in the eye, what are the possible repercussions of this influence, and what are the possible means for taking such effects into account when matching iris samples. To make this study possible, a special database of iris images has been used, representing more than 20 different medical conditions of the ocular region (including cataract, glaucoma, rubeosis iridis, synechiae, iris defects, corneal pathologies and other) and containing almost 3000 samples collected from 230 distinct irises. Then, with the use of four different iris recognition methods, a series of experiments has been conducted, concluding in several important observations. One of the most popular ocular disorders worldwide - the cataract - is shown to worsen genuine comparison scores when results obtained from cataract-affected eyes are compared to those coming from healthy irises. An analysis devoted to different types of impact on eye structures caused by diseases is also carried out with significant results. The enrollment process is highly sensitive to those eye conditions that make the iris obstructed or introduce geometrical distortions. Disorders affecting iris geometry, or producing obstructions are exceptionally capable of degrading the genuine comparison scores, so that the performance of the entire biometric system can be influenced. Experiments also reveal that imperfect execution of the image segmentation stage is the most prominent contributor to recognition errors. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Currently the application of Industry 4.0 is being promoted in Indonesia, among others, in systems in industry, medical, transportation, agriculture, and public services. This has encouraged the implementation of The Internet of Things (IoT) technology. The implementation of IoT in the industry there is no price problem, but in the low profit sectors the use of the industry standard IoT system is a problem. Therefore, this paper will provide the results of the study on the use of Low-Cost IoT. The most important parameter of an IoT system is the performance of sending data from the device to the server and reversing from the server to the user. IoT devices use the NodeMCU ESP8266 module on the Ubidots platform for free. Based on the design that has been carried out, the delivery time performance of IoT to Server devices for fiber optic media and 4G cellular operators is 1-2 milliseconds and 2-7 milliseconds respectively. This value according to the standard is still very good even though using unpaid services.

Obesity and depression are serious public health problems and cause death in the world. In this article, we will study the concept of depreobesity that explains the depression in the context of obesity and vice versa. We will review whether animals can be used to understand the interrelationship between obesity and depression. We will propose saliva as a translational paradigm to predict the depreobesity. Policymakers need to identify new strategies for depreobesity by understanding the complexity of shared biology (depression-obesity). Perspectives for the future are promising. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd
