This paper gives new results on the design and experimental evaluation of an Iterative Learning control (ILC) law in a repetitive process setting. The experimental results given are from a gantry robot facility that has been extensively used in the benchmarking of linear model based ILC designs. An example is also given to demonstrate that this new design offers much superior performance in comparison to some previous designs based on the Roesser model for 2D linear systems.

This paper uses a 2D systems setting, based on the control theory for repetitive processes, to design an iterative learning control law with particular emphasis on the commonly encountered problem of maintaining a specified rotational speed of shaft where disturbances introduce irregularities in the speed achieved. We derive the stochastic master equations, that is to say, quantum filters, and master equations for an arbitrary quantum system probed by a continuous-mode bosonic input field in two types of nonclassical states. Specifically, we consider the cases where the state of the input field is a superposition or combination of (1) a continuous-mode, single-photon wave packet and vacuum, and (2) any continuous-mode coherent states.

Research on public security, especially the safe manipulation and control of vehicles, has gained increasing attention in recent years. This study proposes a closed-loop drowsiness monitoring and management system that can estimate subjects’ driving performance. The system observes electroencephalographic (EEG) dynamics and behavioral changes, delivers arousing feedback to individuals experiencing momentary cognitive lapses, and assesses the efficacy of the feedback. Results of this study showed that the arousing feedback immediately improved subject performance, which was accompanied by concurrent theta- and alpha-power suppression in the bilateral occipital areas. This study further demonstrated the feasibility of accurately assessing the efficacy of arousing feedback presented to drowsy participants by monitoring the changes in their EEG power spectra.
