Abstract In this paper, an active fault-tolerant control strategy is presented. After a short introduction to the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems, a novel control strategy that integrates control and fault identification taking into account a possible actuator saturation is presented. In particular, the fault identification is based on an unknown input observer and integrated with a model-predictive controller taking into account the fault identification error. Finally, the last part of the paper exhibits experimental results regarding the tunnel furnace that confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

This paper considers iterative learning control law design for bothtrial-to-trial error convergence and along the trial performance in the control system of the single-phase inverter (DC/AC). The inverter with passive LC filter act as a high quality AC power source with sinusoidal output voltage. Such solution is typically used for instance in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system. Standard feedback control cannot eliminate the periodic distortion caused by nonlinear loads. It is shown how a class of control laws can be designed using the theory of linear repetitive processes for this problem where the computations are in terms of Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs).The simulations have been performed with the use of Simulink accompanied by PLECS library, which allows to simulate power electronic converter facilities in their realistic working conditions.

This work is intended as an attempt to develop a simple real-time guidance scheme for mobile sensors used to enhance estimation of a spatially distributed process described by a partial differential equation. Using Lyapunov stability arguments, a stable control law is provided for each of the mobile agents while taking account of the dynamics of sensor movements, collision avoidance conditions and various modes of inter-agent connectivity. Numerical simulations for a 1D diffusion equation with three sensor agents are included to demonstrate the effectiveness of such a mobile sensor network in improving the system performance.

This study investigates the interplay among heart rate variability (HRV), respiration, and the severity of motion sickness (MS) in a realistic passive driving task. Although HRV is a commonly used metrically in physiological research or even believed to be a direct measure of sympathovagal activities, the results of MS-effected HRV remain mixed across studies. The goal of this study is to find the source of these contradicting results of HRV associated with MS. Experimental results of this study showed that the group trend of the low-frequency (LF) component and the LF/HF ratio increased and high-frequency (HF) component decreased significantly as self-reported MS level increased (p<0.001), consistent with a perception-driven autonomic response of the cardiovascular system. However, in one of the subjects, the relationship was reversed when individuals intentionally adjust themselves (deep breathing) to relieve the discomfort of MS during the experiments. It appears that the correlations between HRV and MS level were higher when individuals made fewer adjustments (the number of deep breathing) during the passive driving experiments.

Affiliation network is used in graph construction since CDR data are partially kept anonymous. A number of the resulting network properties are examined to prove the correctness of the graph construction algorithm. In this paper, a novel information design algorithm is proposed. It is based on the simulated annealing, which is regarded as one of the important meta-heuristic optimization methods. The idea behind our algorithm originates from the search for optimal solution, where selection avoids local minima. The simulated annealing model is used in the construction of diagrams depicting heating systems. The method offers an automated visual design tool, useful in CAD 1 construction of complex systems. The paper discusses the theoretical background, the properties of the proposed algorithm alongside with the sample application prototype outputs.
