This paper presents three relatively effective numerical algorithms,i.e.,94 LVI algorithms of OIpU(one-iteration-perupdate) type,to handle time-dependent QP(quadratic programming) problems subject to two constraints respectively(i.e.,equality and inequality constraints,equality and bound constraints,or inequality and bound constraints).Specifically,two "bridges" play essential parts of the methods(i.e.,the first "bridge" makes a QP problem convert to an LVI [linear variational inequality],and the second "bridge" makes the LVI convert to a PLPE [piecewise-linear projection equation]).On the basis of the standard94 LVI algorithm,the methods only update once through the solution of the previous sampling time ***,we conduct a number of experiments to substantiate the three algorithms respectively,which use exponential functions,log functions,and trigonometric functions in corresponding coefficients of the experimental examples.

The book introduces novel algorithms for designing fault-tolerant control (FTC) systems using the behavioral system theoretic approach, and presents a demonstration of successful novel FTC mechanisms on several benchmark examples. The authors also discuss a new transient management scheme, which is an essential requirement for the implementation of active FTC systems, and two data-driven methodologies that are broadly classified as active FTC systems: the projection-based approach and the online-redesign approach. These algorithms do not require much a priori information about the plant in real-time, and in addition this novel implementation of active FTC systems circumvents various weaknesses induced by using a diagnostic module in real-time. The book provides graduate students taking masters and doctoral courses in mathematics, control, and electrical engineering an excellent stepping-stone for their research. It also appeals to practitioners interested to apply innovative fail-safecontrol techniques.

A dynamical mathematical model of a water supply plant based on lumped parameters is described. A concept of its control system is proposed that ensures output pressure stabilisation under conditions of variable water consumption and variable water recourses. The control system consists of inner control loops which control the flow of each pump station and of a superimposed control loop that controls the output pressure of the water supply plant. The pressure controller calculates the cumulative reference value of the water flow for all controlled pumps and from this value an algorithm for the flow distribution calculates the reference flow for each inner loop, taking into account the level of water accumulation in each water well. control performances of output pressure obtained by a conventional PI controller and a fuzzy logic based controller are compared.

Implementing a Battery Management System (BMS) in Electric Vehicles (EVs) offers several benefits that enhance the efficiency, security, and durability of the vehicle's battery system. The BMS oversees and controls the performance of each cell in the battery pack, guaranteeing that they function within predetermined voltage and temperature thresholds to maintain safety. In this paper, an intelligent BMS for an EV model powered by a solar PV array was proposed using a fuzzy logic (FL) controller. The proposed method was applied to EVs consisting of four Lithium-ion batteries. The simulation results are achieved using MATLAB/Simulink software. The estimation of the state of charge (SOC) for each battery was used as input to the FL which controls the discharging/ charging mode for each battery via power semiconductor switches. Three different scenarios are used to verify the suggested method. A full control FL operation was obtained, and the batteries were protected successfully against overcharging and over-discharging. © 2024 IEEE.

Treatment of real stabilized landfill leachate (RSLL) is extremely challenging due to its complex mixture containing high levels of organic pollutants, that pose severe environmental problems. Biological treatment is often ineffective due to low biodegradability and high toxicity which limits its application. Effective pre-treatment is the ultimate choice to make the RSLL biodegradable for secondary anaerobic treatment. A combined physicochemical and advanced treatment process was employed to make RSLL treatment effective and economically viable. To the best of our knowledge, in this study, we for the first time utilized multi-metal coated Z5Å-Fe-Zn in catalytic ozonation to study the improvements in the biodegradability (BOD₅/COD ratios) of RSLL. To use RSLL for recycling, this study may be beneficial to achieve United Nations' sustainable development goals. Coagulation-flocculation (CF) with two coagulants [alum and ferrous sulfate (FS)] followed by catalytic ozonation with novel catalyst Z5Å-Fe-Zn were studied in two combinations. Combined treatment processes CF(Alum)–Z5Å-Fe-Zn/O₃ and CF(FS)–Z5Å-Fe-Zn/O₃ demonstrated higher performance achieving COD removal of 91 % and 88 %, and BOD₅ removal of 72 % and 68 %, respectively at optimized working parameters (pH = 8.3 ± 0.3;coagulant = 3 g/L;O₃ = 11 g/h;Z5Å-Fe-Zn = 6 g/L;mixing time-CF = 25 min;treatment time-CF(Alum)–Z5Å-Fe-Zn/O₃ = 55 min). Notably, biodegradability (BOD₅/COD ratios) increased significantly from 0.14 to 0.58. Therefore, treated RSLL could be easily biodegradable and recycled for energy generation in anaerobic processes and could achieve recycling standards, facilitating the practical applications of the studied process. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Trustworthiness of a hardware design has caused great concerns, including the malicious modifications on the design made by Electrical Design Automation (EDA) tools of third-party. In this paper, a novel hardware Trojan (HT) detection method based on the property coverage analysis is proposed to verify the synthesized netlist. The proposed method is motivated by the observation that the malicious modification on the design would threaten the predesigned properties, either by invalidating the properties or by lowering their state coverage, which can be verified by model checking in principle. The proposed method has generality and can be applied to a variety of hardware Trojans. With HTs inserted in the netlists, the experimental results show the proposed method can detect the malicious Trojans effectively.

Proto-OOD: Enhancing OOD Object Detection with Prototype Feature Similarity

Neural networks that are trained on limited category samples often mispredict out-of-distribution (OOD) objects. We observe that features of the same category are more tightly clustered in feature space, while those of different categories are more dispersed. Based on this, we propose using prototype similarity for OOD detection. Drawing on widely used prototype features in few-shot learning, we introduce a novel OOD detection network structure (Proto-OOD). Proto-OOD enhances the representativeness of category prototypes using contrastive loss and detects OOD data by evaluating the similarity between input features and category prototypes. During training, Proto-OOD generates OOD samples for training the similarity module with a negative embedding generator. When Pascal VOC are used as the in-distribution dataset and MS-COCO as the OOD dataset, Proto-OOD significantly reduces the FPR (false positive rate). Moreover, considering the limitations of existing evaluation metrics, we propose a more reasonable evaluation protocol. The code will be released. © 2024, CC BY.

Federated scheduling is a promising approach to schedule parallel real-time tasks, where each task exclusively executes on a set of dedicated processors. However, federated scheduling suffers significant resource wasting since a task typically only uses part of the processing capacity allocated to it, while the unused part cannot be shared with other tasks. To solve this problem, we present a virtually-federated scheduling approach, which both enjoys the good analyzability of federated scheduling and allows tasks to efficiently share processors with others. The main idea is to construct virtual processors on physical processors, and let a task exclusively execute on a set of virtual processors. As a physical processor is shared by virtual processors, tasks effectively share processors with each other. On the other hand, as each task exclusively executes on its own virtual processor set, the good analyzability of federated scheduling can be carried into to our virtually-federated scheduling approach. We conduct comprehensive performance evaluation to compare our proposed approach with existing methods of different types. Experiment results show that our approach consistently outperforms existing methods to a considerable extent under a wide range of parameter settings. ©2021 IEEE

This paper is concerned with the collaborative fault tolerant controller design problem for m non-Gaussian collaborative stochastic distribution systems which connect in series. The main idea for this paper is that when fault occurs in one of the subsystems, a collaborative fault tolerant controller will be designed for one of the rest healthy subsystems based on the non-fault controller and fault diagnosis value. This controller can accommodate the fault and guarantee that the whole systems still have a good tracking performance. © 2011 Intl Journal of Adv Mechatr.
