Extremum Seeking control of Carbon Monoxide Concentration in Underground Coal Gasification

Coal gasification is a promising option for the future use of coal. Similarly to gasification in industrial reactors, underground coal gasification (UCG) produces syngas, which can be used for power generation or for the production of liquid hydrocarbon fuels and other valuable chemical products. As compared with conventional mining and surface gasification, UCG promises lower capital operating costs and also has other advantages, such as no human labour underground. The main goal of the study presented in the paper was to experimentally demonstrate the structure of optimal control system of lignite underground gasification which consists from stabilization and optimization level. This paper proposes an alternative extremum seeking control design technique for the solution of real-time optimization control problems in UCG by aim to maximize a content CO in syngas. © 2017

For the purposes of at the same time functioning web service supporting particular thermodynamic calculations as well as actions related to acquisition, check, repair eventually updating of web service's data bases we have designed conception of administration and structure of two collaborative databases - preparatory and operating. The paper deals with principles this administration and specifies structure of both databases. The data structure of substance and related entities is the same in the both databases. The task of operation database is direct support of web service operation. The task of preparatory database is creation, charging, check, correction, updating (if needed) and copying of correct data into operating database. In introductory part contribution deals with specification web service data model, in next part it analyzes resources and manners of data acquisition into preparatory database. Further it more detailed describes check and copy processes of particular data from preparatory to operating database. For this objective was designed special control substance's database table that contents list of error states for each substance. Till now there were 20 error types over preparatory database defined. Finally it is attention devoted to specification of substance's data copying from preparatory to operation database. © SGEM2011 All Rights Reserved by the International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference SGEM.

This contribution works out the problem for rock disintegration process operation by rotary drilling, where the objective function is to minimize the specific energy of rock disintegration. The proposed operational algorithm is based on continuous evaluation of associated vibrations on the grounds of current disintegrated rock as classified to relevant class from classes which are defined in advance. For each of the classes are specified the parameters for effective drilling. Individual rocks are interpreted by associated vibrating signals from the drilling process as a vector in infinitely complex Hilbert space. The solution is based on the knowledge of the functional analyses and on the methods of artificial intelligence. © 2011 IEEE.

Pulse-width modulation (PWM), or pulse-duration modulation (PDM), is a modulation technique used to encode a message into a pulsing signal. Although this modulation technique can be used to encode information for transmission, its main use is to allow the control of the power supplied to electrical devices. This paper proposes the PWM control of the laboratory bell furnace with utilization of PI controller. The paper presents the PI control algorithm modified in order to regulate the power of furnace. The control is focused on temperature stabilization in furnace or in batch. The main problem is that the proposed furnace does not enable continual control the power. There is possible just On-Off control with a digital signal. Paper present how to transform the PI controller output into the PWM control actuating. There was utilized PLC as a main controller of furnace. The control algorithms were proposed in B&R Automation Basic language as a cyclic tasks implemented on PLC. The proposed experimental furnace was used in order to simulate the annealing of steel coils and verification of indirect measurement of temperature. © SGEM2018.

The priority of the manufacturers and production companies is to improve product quality and reduce the cost of manufacturing. The resulting quality is often strongly influenced by the heat treatment of the product. The creation and implementation of mathematical and simulation models is an effective tool for studying of the thermal processes. We can use the simulation models at the construction of new but also in the reconstruction of existing thermal aggregates. In addition, from simulation studies, we can choose a variant that meets a defined optimality criterion. The article describes a simulating model for modeling of the heating process in a bell furnace. The batch heating process precedes the mechanical processing of the metal and constitutes an essential part of the so-heat treatment of the metal. The inner temperature of the massive batch and the quality of the heating process often determine the efficiency of the process and the quality of the final product. The modeling of the heating process and its visualization are important tools at loading the technology into practice. The task of the simulation model described in this article is to calculate the inner and surface temperatures of the annealed steel coil. The input into the simulation model is the temperature measured directly on the lower surface of the coil and the temperature of the atmosphere measured between the annealed coil and the protective cover obtained from the real measurement. To describe the heat transfer process, the Fourier heat conduction equation is used. The solution of this equation is based on the finite difference method in the two-dimensional coordinate system under marginal conditions I and III. kind. The simulation model was verified on the control measurements realized in the real operation of the bell furnace. © SGEM2018.

The customer expects the quality and reliability of purchased devices. Every defect on the device causes loss of brand confidence and customer dissatisfaction. Customer satisfaction is, however, the best indicator of how likely customers will continue to buy in the future. If an organization wants to maintain a customer, it must be customer-oriented. The company has decided to improve the quality and reliability of its products. This can also help to increase the number of satisfied customers and gain competitive advantage. The question is: How can I do this? How to improve air conditioning quality? The company has decided that the defect analysis will be a prerequisite for improvement. Data obtained from authorized service and authorized technicians. Subsequently, the data is processed as described in this article. The recorded number of defects was grouped by several ways. For analyze of problem were used various methods of quality management, such as Histogram, Pareto Chart and Lorenz Curve. Analysis has shown that the most problematic component is compressor. By designing and implementing corrective actions, the company has been able to improve the quality and reliability of air conditioning. © SGEM2018.

Underground coal gasification (UCG) is an industrial process that provides an alternative to conventional underground mining at coal seams that are located especially deep underground. This process converts coal into product gas (syngas). In this contribution, a proposal of the monitoring system of the underground coal gasification process is presented. The task of the monitoring system is shown indirect measured values from UCG process as two-dimensional temperature field of gasified coal seam. The two-dimensional temperature field is results from the Fourier partial differential equation of the heat conduction that was used for the calculation of the temperature field in the gasified coal seam with using algorithm of queue burning movement for modelling boundary condition in gasification channel. This Fourier partial differential equation was solved by implicit algorithm of the elementary balances method. The monitoring system is based on programming means MATLAB with using its visualization components (GUIDE). This system was verified on data obtained from laboratory measurement realized on the laboratory gasified. © SGEM2017. All Rights Reserved.

The coal processing industry uses a various technology for the process control. Various devices and control systems there can be implemented. With the support of automation, the production of final product can be more effective. Modern control system requires an advanced control algorithm on a several control levels (i.e. stabilization, optimization). The paper focuses to the process of coal combustion and coal gasification. Primarily two processes are examined i.e. underground coal gasification (UCG) and coking. In both, a various gases are produced on output. By stabilization of exhausted gassed we can control the transformation coal to the final product (i.e. syngas in UCG or coke in coking). Paper presents stabilization of oxygen in syngas during UCG and stabilization of CO as a combustion product during coking. The nature of both processes requires the adaptation of discrete controller. In the first case, the method of repeated identification was used in order to adaptation of system model and controller parameters. In the second case, the heuristic principle based on optimization method was used in order to find optimal controller parameters. Paper presents the principle of adaptation and also some results from the controller application. © SGEM2017. All Rights Reserved.

The application for GPS devices expand the use of GPS devices. It is very simply designed and has intuitive operation and environment. The big advantage is an on-line access to the application. The basic characteristic of similar applications is planning and rendering the route which was taken. Therefore, this application provides both of these functions. Route from point A to point B might be planned. It is also possible to add other via points. It can also render the route already traveled. Rendering has been designed to allow a different number of ways. Either from own Web source, or uploaded by a waypoint file. In order to upload waypoints files into the application, user was allowed to create his own account and to manage his files. The most valuable feature is support for multiple formats. This feature is only available in few applications. It is possible to use five basic formats of GPS devices. Combining all of these features is currently the most popular choice. Since the application is available online, most of it is programmed in the programming language PHP and JavaScript. The features of Ajax were also used and Cake PHP framework should facilitate the work. MySQL database is used as a data warehouse. © 2011 IEEE.

Technical diagnostics is a science discipline that provides sufficient scope for different scientific methods and approaches. Objects of technical diagnostics are simpler or more complex technical devices. The purpose of technical diagnostics is to provide a sufficiently accurate estimate of the state of the technical equipment, which is of importance in their maintenance. In this regard, some modern sophisticated methods, based on artificial intelligence, are offered. A system approach is of major importance in technical diagnostics. This paper discusses the possibilities and uses of the vector quantization method. For this method, there is an important state space of the system or vector metric space. In literature, it is ranked among neural network methods. This method allows, based on the measurement of an appropriate set of status variables of the device to recognize the state closest to it from the previously defined possible states. In this way, the recognized status of the device can be linked to the corresponding maintenance operation and effective control. The proposed method is based on the continuous evaluation of the measured variables classified into the appropriate class. © SGEM2018.
