Transmission torque tubes are widely used devices to transmit the mechanical power for wing high lift systems on civil aircraft. It connects the power drive unit to the actuator. The torque tube transmits torque from the power drive unit to the actuator, which in turn drives the flap surfaces. Therefore, if the torque tube is not properly installed, there is a potential risk of loss of transmission. In severe cases, this hazard results in the torque tube no longer being restrained and can be disconnected. It will trigger the asymmetric detection protection of the control surface during the operation of the flap system, resulting in the closure of the flap system with the EICAS message FLAP FAULT. The flap system will be locked in its position until the aircraft landing. This article describes an incident of a flap torque tube disconnection on a type of civil aircraft. It also demonstrates the function, design architecture, and installation method of the torque tube and analyzes for durability and reliability of the torque tube. In addition, it illustrates the protection system of the aircraft caused by the torque tube disconnection. Then, it analyzes the torque tube installation procedure, inspection method, and related precautions. Besides, it analyzes other potential failure modes. Finally, the future research directions drive further technological development implementing torque tube status monitors for the whole life cycle. © 2025 institute of Physics Publishing. Impulsive Consensus of MASs With Input Saturation and DoS Attacks

This paper investigates the secure impulsive consensus of Lipschitz-type nonlinear multi-agent systems(MASs) with input saturation. According to the coupling of input saturation and denial of service(DoS) attacks, impulsive control for MASs becomes extremely challenging. Considering general DoS attacks,this paper provides the sufficient conditions for the almost sure consensus of the MASs with input saturation, where the error system can achieve almost sure local exponential *** linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), the relation between the trajectory boundary and DoS attacks is characterized, and the trajectory boundary is estimated. Furthermore, an optimization method of the domain of attraction is proposed to maximize the size. And a non-conservative and practical boundary is proposed to characterize the effect of DoS attacks on MASs. Finally, considering a multi-agent system with typical Chua's circuit dynamic model, an example is provided to illustrate the theorems' correctness.

A Hierarchical Multi-task and Multi-agent Assignment Approach: Learning DQN Strategy from Execution

This article investigates the problem of real-time task assignment with heterogeneous agents while considering resource constraints. A hierarchical reinforcement learning-based(HRL) method to address the problem has been proposed. Unlike most existing studies, the method is to assign the tasks to agents such that the resource consumption is minimized while respecting the resource constraints and realizing task distribution balance among agents. At the high level, the real-time task assignment problem within a heterogeneous multi-agent system is formulated as a sequence optimization model which considers multiple constraints. At the low level, a novel reinforcement learning-based hierarchical framework that decomposes the large-scale task assignment problem into the target assignment layer and resource assignment layer is developed. In the first layer, a task assignment strategy closer to the optimal one in real-time by reducing the dimension of the DQN state-action space and learning from execution is produced. In the second layer, a novel resource assignment method is designed to minimize resource consumption and reserve as many agents as possible to handle new tasks by optimizing the resource distribution among agents. Simulation experiments in multi-UAV collaborative emergency material delivery demonstrate that the proposed method can generate high-quality solutions for various problem scales and greatly improve resource balance and real-time performance. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

An aileron is a crucial control surface for *** jitter or shaking caused by the aileron mechatronics could have catastrophic consequences for the aircraft’s stability,maneuverability,safety,and *** paper presents a robust solution in the form of a fast flutter suppression digital control logic of edge computing aileron mechatronics(ECAM).We have effectively eliminated passive and active oscillating response biases by integrating nonlinear functional parameters and an antiphase hysteresis Schmitt *** findings demonstrate that self-tuning nonlinear parameters can optimize stability,robustness,and *** the same time,the antiphase hysteresis Schmitt trigger effectively rejects flutters without the need for collaborative navigation and *** hardware-in-the-loop simulation results confirm that this approach can eliminate aircraft jitter and shaking while ensuring expected stability and *** conclusion,this nonlinear aileron mechatronics with a Schmitt positive feedback mechanism is a highly effective solution for distributed flight control and active flutter rejection.

Partial Solution Operator Discretization-Based Methods for Efficiently Computing Least-Damped Eigenvalues of Large Time Delayed Power systems

To investigate impact of time delays on the small signal stability of power systems, the least-damped eigenvalues with the smallest damping ratios have been calculated by eigen-analysis methods based on Solution Operator Discretization (SOD) with Pseudo-Spectral collocation (PS) and Implicit Runge-Kutta (IRK) methods. This paper evolves SOD-PSIIRK into their partial counterparts, i.e., PSOD-PSIIRK, with greatly enhanced efficiency and reliability in analyzing large-scale time delayed power systems. Compared with SOD-PSIIRK, PSOD-PSIIRK are characterized in constructing low order discretization matrices of solution operator as well as efficiently and directly solving the embedded Matrix-Inverse-Vector Products (MIVPs). The dimensions of the discretization matrices of solution operator are largely reduced as only the retarded state variables are discretized, rather than all state variables as in SOD-PSIIRK. Meanwhile, the proposed PSOD-PSIIRK optimize the most computationally expensive operations in SOD-PSIIRK by avoiding the iterative solutions to the two embedded MIVPs. PSOD-PS/IRK directly and efficiently compute the MIVPs via factorizing the Kronecker product-like discretization matrices of the solution operator into Schur complements. The Central China-North China ultra-high-voltage power grid with 80577 state variables serves to validate the proposed PSOD-PSIIRK and shows that compared with SOD-PSIIRK, the computational time consumed by PSOD-PSIIRK is cut down by 49.96 times without loss of any accuracy.

Effects of Corona Discharge from the Grounding Tip on Charge Evolution of Wall Bushing

Manufacturers consider that the grounding tip near the wall bushing flange is a potentially important factor in several sheath perforation accidents. Taking a ±100 kV true type SF6 gas-insulated bushing as a typical wall bushing, this paper tests the impact of the nearby grounding tip on the charge accumulation. Based on the experiment results, we propose the three-dimensional nonlinear conduction model to unravel the charge accumulation process and the three-dimensional corona ion migration model to clarify the corona process. It is concluded that the consumption of gas ions leads to the nonlinear charge relaxation process. When the corona of grounding tip incepts, numerous ions are generated, forming an "overcharge" phenomenon. The electric field at the insulator-sheds interface and the SF6-insulator interface increases compared to the normal condition, with non-uniform distribution along the circumferential direction. Material inhomogeneity amplifies electric field distortion and creates insulation weaknesses, making insulation aging more likely and potentially leading to a slowly developing electrical tree breakdown process. The length of the needle tip affects the duration of the corona effect;an excessively long needle tip can cause a sustained corona discharge. This research provides a foundation for bushing accidents analysis and operation reliability improvement. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Two-Stage Scheduling Model for Flexible Resources in Active Distribution Networks Based on Probabilistic Risk Perception

Aiming at the problems of increasing uncertainty of low-carbon generation energy in active distribution network(ADN)and the difficulty of security assessment of distribution network,this paper proposes a two-phase scheduling model for flexible resources in ADN based on probabilistic risk ***,a full-cycle probabilistic trend sequence is constructed based on the source-load historical data,and in the day-ahead scheduling phase,the response interval of the flexibility resources on the load and storage side is optimized based on the probabilistic trend,with the probability of the security boundary as the security constraint,and with the economy as the *** in the intraday phase,the core security and economic operation boundary of theADNis screened in real ***,it quantitatively senses the degree of threat to the core security and economic operation boundary under the current source-load prediction information,and identifies the strictly secure and low/high-risk time *** resources within the response interval are dynamically adjusted in real-time by focusing on high-risk periods to cope with future core risks of the distribution ***,the improved IEEE 33-node distribution system is simulated to obtain the flexibility resource scheduling scheme on the load and storage *** results are evaluated from the perspectives of risk probability and flexible resource utilization efficiency,and the analysis shows that the scheduling model in this paper can promote the consumption of low-carbon energy from wind and photovoltaic sourceswhile reducing the operational risk of the distribution network.

Optical fiber hydrogen sensors have recently received great attention because of the advantages of essential safety, anti-electromagnetic interference, corrosion resistance, suitable for long distance detection and so on. A new type of optical fiber hydrogen sensors based on stimulated Raman scattering spectroscopy and nanofiber was proposed several yeas ago which can realize ultra-fast, ultra-sensitive hydrogen detection with ultra-wide dynamic range. However, the Raman gain depends on the polarization states of the pump and Stokes beams and the Raman signal will drift when the fiber status or the environment temperature are changed. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an optical fiber passive depolarizer to suppress the polarization dependence of stimulated Raman scattering gain in the aforementioned hydrogen sensor system. The depolarizer mainly consists of two fiber polarization beam splitters(PBSs) and a piece of delay fiber. The angle of incidence for any PBS is 45° and the delay fiber length is much longer than the coherent length of the input beam. The input beam is split into two beams by PBS1 one of which transfers through the delay fiber. Then these two beams are combined by PBS2 to obtain the output beam composed of two orthogonal beams with equal power, and their phase relationship changes randomly. By inserting the depolarizer into the pump beam path, the Raman signal will not be influenced by the changes of the fiber status or the environment temperature. This achievement would be very useful for real application of the hydrogen sensor in long distance detection and multi-channel sensing system. © 2025 SPIE.

The electromagnetic transient simulation acceleration algorithm based on delay mitigation of dynamic critical paths

The task scheduling problem based on directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) has been proven to be NP-complete in general cases or under certain restrictions. In this paper, building upon existing scheduling algorithms, we introduce a static task scheduling algorithm based on directed acyclic graphs. By incorporating the proportion of task transmission delay as a guiding metric in the optimization process, processors can be prioritized for tasks with high latency, thereby improving computational efficiency. We first validate the theoretical feasibility of the algorithm using a theoretical case study and illustrate the algorithmic effectiveness using two real case studies, direct current (DC) model and alternating current (AC) model respectively. The research indicates that the scheduling algorithm proposed in this paper achieves an average scheduling length improvement of over 1.2% compared to the Heterogeneous Earliest-Finish-Time algorithm (HEFT) in topologies with high latency tasks. Additionally, the experiments show that the HEFT algorithm consumes 39.85us and the EMT-DM algorithm consumes 38.29us during simulation using DC, and the HEFT algorithm consumes 31.23us and the EMT-DM algorithm consumes 26.51us during simulation using AC, both of which are improved compared to the HEFT algorithm. © The Author(s) 2025.

An equivalent modeling method for integrated water-wind-solar systems based on sparrow search algorithm

In the context of extensive integration of renewable energy sources into the electrical grid, the grid's fault transient behaviors have undergone significant changes. However, conventional single-unit equivalent models fail to accurately capture the fault transient responses of combined wind-solar-hydro power stations and often require substantial computational resources, leading to reduced simulation efficiency. This study proposes a cluster-based equivalent modeling approach for hybrid wind-solar-hydro power plants using the Sparrow Search Algorithm. Key factors influencing fault characteristics, including the distance to the Point of Common Coupling, DC-side current-limiting measures, irradiance levels, water flow rates, wind speeds, and reactive power at the outlet, are identified and used to construct a transient model. Euclidean distances are computed for these factors, and initial clustering centers for wind turbines are determined using an improved max–min distance technique. These factors and clustering centers serve as the training dataset to establish the clustering equivalent model. Simulation results, conducted on the MATLAB2022 platform, demonstrate that the SSA-based model outperforms the single-unit equivalent model by over 150 times in terms of accuracy. Additionally, the SSA-based model achieves a delay time, defined as the time required to compute the system's transient response after a fault, of less than 5 ms, which is less than one-twentieth of the delay time of the single-unit equivalent model. These improvements highlight the model's ability to accurately capture dynamic power responses under various disturbances, making it highly suitable for real-time applications in hybrid renewable energy systems. © The Author(s) 2025.
