Tailored energy absorption for a novel auxetic honeycomb structure under large deformation

In comparison to conventional hexagonal honeycomb structures,auxetic metamaterials with re-entrant configurations have exhibited superior mechanical properties in terms of energy *** further enhance the energy absorption capacity of these materials,a novel re-entrant honeycomb configuration,named novel auxetic re-entrant honeycomb(NARH),is developed by incorporating“<>”-shaped cell walls into the conventional auxetic re-entrant honeycomb(ARH).Two analytical models for the plateau stress are formulated to consider the plastic deformation of NARH during quasi-static compression and the dynamic impact using the linear momentum ***-static compression tests on 3D printed NARH honeycomb specimens and finite element simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical *** exhibits higher plateau stresses compared with ARH during compression,which can be attributed to the presence of more plastic hinges formed in *** hinges,the embedded parts with inclined cell walls,not only improve stability by forming stable triangles during compression but also enhance the energy absorption capacity.A parametric study is conducted to analyze the effect of impact velocity,thickness,and incline angle of cell walls on *** simulations demonstrate higher sensitivity of the mechanical properties to impact velocity and cell wall *** ribs to the“<>”-shaped cell walls in NARH further reduces the initial peak force during dynamic crushing while maintaining high energy *** research provides valuable guidelines for the design of energy absorption metamaterials.

Auxetic metamaterials,which exhibit the negative Poisson’s ratio(NPR)effect,have found wide applications in many engineering ***,their high porosity inevitably weakens their bearing capacity and impact *** improve the energy absorption efficiency of auxetic honeycombs,a novel vertex-based hierarchical star-shaped honeycomb(VSH)is designed by replacing each vertex in the classical star-shaped honeycomb(SSH)with a newly added self-similar *** analytical model is built to investigate the Young’s modulus of VSH,which shows good agreement with experimental results and numerical *** in-plane dynamic crushing behaviors of VSH at three different crushing velocities are investigated,and empirical formulas for the densification strain and plateau stress are *** results reveal more stable deformation modes for VSH,attributed to the addition of self-similar star-shaped ***,compared with SSH under the same relative densities,VSH exhibits better specific energy absorption and higher plateau ***,VSH is verified to be a better candidate for energy absorption while maintaining the auxetic *** study is expected to provide a new design strategy for auxetic honeycombs.

With the development of modern logistics industry, automated warehouses are becoming more and more widely used. An automated guided vehicle (AGV) is often used to carry goods in warehouse. Under specific limitations of the road layout, AGVs are prone to conflict when moving. According to the layout characteristics of automated warehouses, this paper proposes a conflict-reducing path planning algorithm, which is an improvement of A-star algorithm. The conflict cost and turn cost are introduced to the algorithm to reduce the conflict probability and the number of turns of paths. Through simulation comparison, it is verified that the algorithm can reduce the probability of conflicts among AGVs and improve the overall efficiency of multi-AGV systems. © 2021 IEEE.

With the rapid development of global container business, there are higher requirements for the operation efficiency of container terminals. The vehicle dispatching system is an important link in the operation of container terminal. The yard environment of container terminal is very complex, and the traditional global optimization model based on time estimation is no longer suitable to deal with the vehicle dispatching problem in the scene of dock. This paper proposes a real-time vehicle scheduling strategy for container terminals. Firstly, a buffer vehicle pool is designed to balance the efficiency of each quay crane (QC). Secondly, the wider neighborhood simulated annealing algorithm (WNSA) is presented to find the optimal matching result of each round of calculation. The experimental results show that the proposed strategy in this paper is able to improve the operation efficiency of the QCs and reduce the vehicle cost in the container terminal. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper studies a flexible flow-shop scheduling problem with limited resources (FFSP-LR) which is based on an actual air-conditioning production line in an intelligent manufacturing system. It extends the classical flexible flow-shop scheduling problem by considering practical constraints of the number of the AGVs (automated guided vehicles) on the transportation resources. The problem aims to determine the optimal scheduling results that minimizes the idle waiting time and pick-up waiting time of the workstations. To solve this problem, a pre-waiting scheduling model (PWSM) is proposed by taking into account the advance waiting time of AGVs. The experimental results show that the proposed PWSM is able to reduce idle waiting time and pick-up waiting time up to 425.01 and 414.25 comparing to traditional FCFS (First Come First Serve) strategy respectively. Correspondingly, these two types of time could be saved up to 87.01% and 98.57%. Finally, the overall efficiency of the intelligent manufacturing system is improved since the PWSM is able to effectively reduce the idle waiting time and pick-up waiting time of the workstations under the condition of limited transportation resources. © 2021 IEEE.

With the continuous growth of port container throughput, it is difficult to meet the port production demand by simply configuring automation equipments to improve the operation efficiency of machinery. The container truck scheduling and yard crane scheduling are the two important scheduling links in container terminals. At the same time, there is a tight coupling between them. Thus, the joint scheduling of container trucks and yard cranes is necessary to improve the operation efficiency of container terminals. In this paper, the joint real-time scheduling of trucks and yard cranes is mathematically modeled, and is solved by the elite genetic algorithm. Finally, a variety of scheduling strategies are compared to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. © 2021 IEEE.

With the development of international trade, container transportation increases rapidly. Loading large quantities of containers requires efficient port operations and an efficient container stowage plan (CSP). A CSP is the placement of containers onto the shipping plan slots, which should decrease loading cost and keep the ship stability. The yard operational efficiency, ship stability, and operational safety are the major factors that should be considered in port loading and unloading. Since, factors are related to others, to generate a CSP is proven to be NP-complete. This paper proposes a decision-support framework for determining a shipment plan, which is to achieve the optimal shipment objects by a planning model. The experimental results show that the proposed framework can improve the operating efficiency of the storage yard while keeping the ship's stability and reducing the dangerous loading scenes. © 2021 IEEE.

Many tasks have demand on precise predictions of agents or moving objects. Previous prediction methods usually only focus on the kinematic model of moving objects or the environment. However, the target tasks of agents may influence the prediction of agents in great sense, especially in tasks of confrontation. Therefore traditional methods cannot work well in such scenes. In this paper, we propose a heterogeneous graph neural network method to deal with the multi-agent trajectory prediction problem. Our method can aggregate and pass messages representing environment and also agents' tasks due to the elaborate design of graph neural network structure. We validate our method on the Robocup Small Size League simulation platform which focuses on multi-agent coordination and confrontation in the form of soccer games. After making our own ZJUNlictSSL dataset, we predict the position of all robots on the pitch of certain time gaps based on the limited information we get from vision. The results prove that our method is of high prediction accuracy and low prediction error compared with conventional kinematic motion methods. Code is available here. © 2021 IEEE.

Two-dimensional Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) exhibits outstanding rate property and cycle performance in lithium-ion capacitors(LICs)due to its unique layered structure,excellent electronic conductivity,and high specific surface ***,like graphene,Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) restacks during electrochemical cycling due to hydrogen bonding or van der Waals forces,leading to a decrease in the specific surface area and an increase in the diffusion distance of electrolyte ions between the interlayer of the ***,a transition metal selenide MoSe_(2) with a special three-stacked atomic layered structure,derived from metal-organic framework(MOF),is introduced into the Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) structure through a solvo-thermal *** synergic effects of rapid Li+diffusion and pillaring effect from the MoSe_(2) and excellent conductivity from the Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) sheets endow the material with excellent electrochemical reaction kinetics and *** composite Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@MoSe_(2) material exhibits a high capacity over 300 mAh·g^(-1) at 150 mA·g^(-1) and excellent rate property with a specific capacity of 150 mAh·g^(-1) at 1500 mA·g^(-1).Addition-ally,the material shows a superior capacitive contribution of 86.0%at 2.0 mV·s^(-1) due to the fast electrochemical reactions.A Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@MoSe_(2)//AC LIC device is also fabricated and exhibits stable cycle performance.

With the increasing development of automated logistics systems, automated guided vehicles (AGVs) have been gradually deployed in various logistics systems. AGVs are mainly used to transport materials and products, which promote the efficiency greatly and provide profound flexibility and safety. The strategy to prevent AGVs from forming deadlocks is one of the fundamental and vital issues in applications. In this paper, a common type of deadlock that usually occurs in warehouses and a typical attribute of map called fringe blocks are studied thoroughly. To solve the deadlock, it's crucial to identify fringe blocks. We first use traditional depth first search algorithm (DFS) to find out all the fringe blocks in the map. Then, confronted with the huge time complexity, we combine the DFS procedure with a high-efficiency trimming method. Finally, we run a simulation and make a comparison of both methods. The simulation results have shown that the proposed strategy will reduce computational time significantly without making false judgements. © 2021 IEEE.
