This paper considers the design of univer- sal delayed Kalman filter for the networked tracking sys- tem with arbitrary random delay. Firstly, an equivalent Weighted summation form of the conventional Kalman fil- ter (WSFKF) is given to provide a novel frame to more effectively solve the delayed filtering or Out-of-sequence measurements (OOSMs) estimate. In nature, this form makes perfectly use of the properties of offline parameters computation for Kalman filter and weighted summation of initial state estimate and the ordered measurements, which are respectively from Linear time invariant (LTI) system and Linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) estima- tor. Secondly, by combing a replacement with global mea- surement prediction and a compensation operation based on the innovation of delayed measurement and adaptive on- line weighted coefficient matrix, a novel universal delayed Kalman filter which is applicable to the arbitrary random delay is designed under the WSFKF frame. Compared with the current delayed filters or OOSMs update meth- ods, the proposed delayed estimator has not only more con- cise algorithm structure and better estimate accuracy but also stronger application range. The example is demon- strated to validate the proposed delayed estimator in this paper.

The effects on the ground distributions of fragments respectively from the explosion of cylindrical and spherical vessels were investigated using Monte-Carlo simulations, to explore the characteristics of the fragment trajectory term. The results showed that wind shear and turbulence sent the fragments impacting in shorter distances than with no wind, and the ground distributions of fragments with wind shear were almost the same as those with turbulence; the probabilistic confidence intervals became narrower with increasing number of simulations, and the accuracy of the results increased due to the larger number of samples corresponding to the larger number of simulations.

The robust stability for neutral systems with time-varying delay and uncertainties is investigated in this paper. Two kinds of uncertainties including nonlinear perturbation and norm-bounded uncertainty are considered here. A novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii function that splits the whole delay interval into two subintervals and defines a different energy function on each subinterval is constructed. Using the Jensen inequality, some new delay-dependent robustly absolute stability criteria are presented in terms of strict linear matrix inequalities (LMI). Neither model transformation nor bounding technique for cross terms is required in obtaining the stability conditions. The neutral-delay and discrete-delay are taken into account. The numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness.

In order to enhance the glutathione peroxidase(GPX) catalytic activity of the selenium-containing single-chain variable fragments(Se-scFv), a novel human scFv was designed on the basis of the structure of human antibody and optimized via bioinformatics methods such as homologous sequence analysis, three-dimensional(3D) model building, binding-site analysis and docking. The DNA sequence of the new human scFv was synthesized and cloned into the expression vector pET22b(+), then the scFv protein was expressed in soluble form in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) and purified by Ni2+-immobilized metal affinity chromatography(IMAC). The serine residue of scFv in the active site was converted into selenocysteine(Sec) with the chemical modification method, thus, the human Se-scFv with GPX activity was obtained. The GPX activity of the Se-scFv protein was characterized. Compared with other Se-scFv, the new human Se-scFv showed similar efficiency for catalyzing the reduction of hydrogen peroxide by glutathione. It exhibited pH and temperature dependent catalytic activity and a typical ping-pong kinetic mechanism.

Calibration of a functional structural plant model is a challenging task because of the complexity of model structure. Parameter estimation through gradient-based optimization technique was highly dependent on initial parameter values. This motivated the use of global sensitivity analysis technique to choose parameter subset in fitting the data sequence. Global sensitivity indices were computed using the source sink ratio as the output of interest, which regulates all organ growth. By fitting on chrysanthemum data from nine sampling dates, it is shown that sensitivity analysts method helps to identify the influential parameters for a given sampling date. As a result, fitting process is less dependent on the initial parameter values. Current work provides a new method of calibrating a plant growth model with multiple outputs.
