Mechanism of iron on the intestinal epithelium development in suckling piglets

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of iron on intestinal epithelium development of suckling piglets. Compared with newborn piglets, 7-day-old and 21-day-old piglets showed changes in the morphology of the jejunum, increased proliferation,differentiated epithelial cells, and expanded enteroids. Intestinal epithelium maturation markers and iron metabolism genes were significantly changed. These results suggest that lactation is a critical stage in intestinal epithelial development, accompanied by changes in iron metabolism. In addition, deferoxamine(DFO) treatment inhibited the activity of intestinal organoids at passage 4(P4) of 0-day-old piglets, but no significant difference was observed in epithelial maturation markers at passage 1(P1) and P4,and only argininosuccinate synthetase 1(Ass1) and β-galactosidase(Gleb) were up-regulated at passage 7(P7). These results in vitro show that iron deficiency may not directly affect intestinal epithelium development through intestinal stem cells(ISCs). The iron supplementation significantly down-regulated the m RNA expression of interleukin-22 receptor subunit alpha-2(IL-22RA2)in the jejunum of piglets. Furthermore, the m RNA expression of IL-22 in 7-day-old piglets was significantly higher than that in0-day-old piglets. Adult epithelial markers were significantly up-regulated in organoids treated with recombinant murine cytokine IL-22. Thus, IL-22 may play a key role in iron-affecting intestinal epithelium development.

Motion-based Lidar-camera Calibration via Cross-modality Structure Consistency

Lidar and cameras serve as essential sensors for automated vehicles and intelligent robots, and they are frequently fused in complicated tasks. Precise extrinsic calibration is the prerequisite of Lidar-camera fusion. Hand-eye calibration is almost the most commonly used targetless calibration approach. This paper presents a particular degeneration problem of hand-eye calibration when sensor motions lack rotation. This context is common for ground vehicles, especially those traveling on urban roads, leading to a significant deterioration in translational calibration performance. To address this problem, we propose a novel motion-based Lidar-camera calibration framework based on cross-modality structure consistency. It is globally convergent within the specified search range and can achieve satisfactory translation calibration accuracy in degenerate scenarios. To verify the effectiveness of our framework, we compare its performance to one motion-based method and two appearance-based methods using six Lidar-camera data sequences from the KITTI dataset. Additionally, an ablation study is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of each module within our framework. © 2023, CC BY.

This paper is concerned with the controller design and the theoretical analysis for time-delay systems,a two degree of freedom(feedforward and feedback) control method is proposed,which combines advantages of the Smith predictor and the active disturbance rejection control(ADRC).The feedforward part of controller is used to track the set point,the feedback part of controller(ADRC) is used to suppress interferences and the Smith predictor is used to correct time *** proposed control design is easy to tune parameters and has been proved to effectively control systems with large time *** bounded input bounded output(BIBO) stability of closed-loop system is ***,numerical simulations show the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed design.

With the increasing complexity of power systems and the widespread penetration of renewable energy sources(RES),real-time situational awareness for power systems is of great significance for operational *** the impact of RES on power system operations,a situational awareness key performance index(KPI)system for power systems with a high proportion of RES is proposed in this paper,which consists of reserve capacity abundance,ramp resource abundance,center of inertia(COI)frequency deviation,interface power flow margin,synthesized voltage stability,and angle stability ***,the KPIs are synthesized and visualized by the decision tree method and radar chart method,respectively,for monitoring the operation states(i.e,normal,alert,and emergency states)of power systems with a high proportion of *** simulations are conducted in a revised New England 16-machine 68-bus power system and an actual CEPRI-RE power system in the northwest region of China with a high proportion of *** results show that the proposed KPI-based situational awareness method is able to accurately monitor the real-time state of power systems with a high proportion of RES,and can assist power dispatchers to make effective decisions.

Multi-scale feature fused stacked autoencoder and its application for soft sensor modeling

Deep Learning has been widely used to model soft sensors in modern industrial processes with nonlinear variables and uncertainty. Due to the outstanding ability for high-level feature extraction, stacked autoencoder (SAE) has been widely used to improve the model accuracy of soft sensors. However, with the increase of network layers, SAE may encounter serious information loss issues, which affect the modeling performance of soft sensors. Besides, there are typically very few labeled samples in the data set, which brings challenges to traditional neural networks to solve. In this paper, a multi-scale feature fused stacked autoencoder (MFF-SAE) is suggested for feature representation related to hierarchical output, where stacked autoencoder, mutual information (MI) and multi-scale feature fusion (MFF) strategies are integrated. Based on correlation analysis between output and input variables, critical hidden variables are extracted from the original variables in each autoencoder's input layer, which are correspondingly given varying weights. Besides, an integration strategy based on multi-scale feature fusion is adopted to mitigate the impact of information loss with the deepening of the network layers. Then, the MFF-SAE method is designed and stacked to form deep networks. Two practical industrial processes are utilized to evaluate the performance of MFF-SAE. Results from simulations indicate that in comparison to other cutting-edge techniques, the proposed method may considerably enhance the accuracy of soft sensor modeling, where the suggested method reduces the root mean square error (RMSE) by 71.8%, 17.1% and 64.7%, 15.1%, respectively. © 2025 Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, and Chemical Industry Press Co., Ltd.

Zero-shot learning (ZSL) is an important but challenging task in computer vision that aims to identify unseen classes without matching training samples. Current cutting-edge ZSL methods based on locality focus on acquiring the explicit locality of distinguishing characteristics, which could face a lack of adequate supervision at the class attribute level. This paper introduces a novel approach called IAC, which aims to learn Implicit Attribute Composition for ZSL. This method is more comprehensive compared to attribute localization that solely focuses on class-level attribute supervision. IAC utilizes subspace representations that efficiently capture the inherent structure of high-dimensional image features. Then, we learn implicit attribute composition through subspace representation learning. The superiority of the proposed IAC compared to the state-of-the-art is demonstrated through sufficient experiments conducted on three commonly used ZSL datasets, CUB, SUN, and AwA2. © 2023 IEEE.

Defect inspection,also known as defect detection,is significant in mobile screen quality *** are some challenging issues brought by the characteristics of screen defects,including the following:(1)the problem of interclass similarity and intraclass variation,(2)the difficulty in distinguishing low contrast,tiny-sized,or incomplete defects,and(3)the modeling of category dependencies for multi-label *** solve these problems,a graph reasoning module,stacked on a classification module,is proposed to expand the feature dimension and improve low-quality image features by exploiting category-wise dependency,image-wise relations,and interactions between *** further improve the classification performance,the classifier of the classification module is redesigned as a cosine similarity *** the help of contrastive learning,the classification module can better initialize the category-wise graph of the reasoning *** on the mobile screen defect dataset show that our two-stage network achieves the following best performances:97.7%accuracy and 97.3%*** proves that the proposed approach is effective in industrial applications.

Model-Based Planning and control for Terrestrial-Aerial Bimodal Vehicles with Passive Wheels

Terrestrial and aerial bimodal vehicles have gained widespread attention due to their cross-domain maneuverability. Nevertheless, their bimodal dynamics significantly increase the complexity of motion planning and control, thus hindering robust and efficient autonomous navigation in unknown environments. To resolve this issue, we develop a model-based planning and control framework for terrestrial aerial bimodal vehicles. This work begins by deriving a unified dynamic model and the corresponding differential flatness. Leveraging differential flatness, an optimization-based trajectory planner is proposed, which takes into account both solution quality and computational efficiency. Moreover, we design a tracking controller using nonlinear model predictive control based on the proposed unified dynamic model to achieve accurate trajectory tracking and smooth mode transition. We validate our framework through extensive benchmark comparisons and experiments, demonstrating its effectiveness in terms of planning quality and control performance. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. The project manager's role and influence on the project's overall outcome have fascinated many academicians, researchers, and practitioners. The project manager's leadership and human skills play a vital role in the project's outcome;therefore, it is imperative for these competencies to be identified, learned, and leadership styles to be adopted. This study aims to define the most relevant competencies to multidimensional project success and their interrelationship. The quantitative method was used by applying a survey to project managers and team members working in the public sector of Pakistan. The results suggest that a combination of emotional, managerial intelligence, and transformational leadership are stronger predictors of multidimensional public project success. This study has shown that management and leadership need to be integrated to achieve better results. Project managers need to combine soft and hard skills, leadership competencies, and management to engage with people and be effective in terms of processes, tasks, and objectives. © 1973-2011 IEEE.
