Pushing AI to wireless network edge: an overview on integrated sensing, communication, and computation towards 6G

Pushing artificial intelligence(AI) from central cloud to network edge has reached board consensus in both industry and academia for materializing the vision of artificial intelligence of things(AIoT) in the sixth-generation(6G) era. This gives rise to an emerging research area known as edge intelligence, which concerns the distillation of human-like intelligence from the vast amount of data scattered at the wireless network edge. Typically, realizing edge intelligence corresponds to the processes of sensing, communication,and computation, which are coupled ingredients for data generation, exchanging, and processing, ***, conventional wireless networks design the three mentioned ingredients separately in a task-agnostic manner, which leads to difficulties in accommodating the stringent demands of ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability, and high capacity in emerging AI applications like auto-driving and metaverse. This thus prompts a new design paradigm of seamlessly integrated sensing, communication, and computation(ISCC) in a taskoriented manner, which comprehensively accounts for the use of the data in downstream AI tasks. In view of its growing interest, this study provides a timely overview of ISCC for edge intelligence by introducing its basic concept, design challenges, and enabling techniques, surveying the state-of-the-art advancements, and shedding light on the road ahead.

This paper aims to address the difficulties faced by novice programmers in grasping code structure and execution flow, improving programming thinking, and pinpointing code errors with accuracy. It proposes providing students with program behavior diagrams based on large language models (LLMs) and visualization techniques to achieve personalized guidance. Specifically, these program behavior diagrams include programming thinking visualization diagrams and code vulnerability visualization diagrams. A programming thinking visualization diagram employs static code analysis to gather code structure information, combined with the structured chain-of-thought method to collectively optimize the LLM. This enables the LLM to explain each interpretable part of the code from top to bottom, detailing the programming concepts, and displaying them on a modularized code structure diagram. The code vulnerability visualization diagram primarily utilizes the fine-tuned LLM, optimizing it based on program analysis and clustering analysis methods to accurately identify vulnerabilities in student code and display them on a code flow diagram. Its feature is to visually display to students the error location, error information, and the impact of errors on program flow, rather than providing the programming answers. Lastly, through experiments and statistical analysis of actual teaching data, this paper serves a demonstration that the enhanced models used in the visualization diagram generation process have a noticeable effect on mainstream LLMs, and that visualization diagrams hold significant value for students at different stages of learning. © 2024 IEEE.

India, whose population growth is its greatest asset cannot afford to let its people eat confectionery that is either tainted or somehow polluted, since this would lead to extensive malnutrition. Traditional food supply chains are characterized by centralization and the problems associated with it such as having a single point of failure and producing inconsistent products while compromising the quality, along with data loss. With the need for daily reports in all regions of India regarding food fraud, contamination, and adulteration, a clearly advanced decentralized model is sought after for the creation of a supply chain. This paper introduces the supply chain network for the Indian confectionery market based on blockchain to better address quality claims, contamination, and transparency. This enables real-time traceability within the ecosystem, by using IoT strategies along with the Ethereum blockchain leading to better product authentication and resulting in higher consumer confidence. Blockchain creates a secure data tracking function, while smart contracts can be used to define the process - such as IoT monitoring of temperature. The united method enables verified data to be available to the consumer, energy efficiency, and trust across the supply chain. © 2024 IEEE.

Resistive random access memory(RRAM)enables the functionality of operating massively parallel dot prod-ucts and ***-based accelerator is such an effective approach to bridging the gap between Internet of Things devices'constrained resources and deep neural networks'tremendous *** to the huge overhead of Analog to Digital(A/D)and digital accumulations,analog RRAM buffer is introduced to extend the processing in analog and in *** analog RRAM buffer offers potential solutions to A/D conversion issues,the energy consumption is still challenging in resource-constrained environments,especially with enormous intermediate data ***,criti-cal concerns over endurance must also be resolved before the RRAM buffer could be frequently used in reality for DNN in-ference *** we propose LayCO,a layer-centric co-optimizing scheme to address the energy and endurance con-cerns altogether while strictly providing an inference accuracy *** relies on two key ideas:1)co-optimizing with reduced supply voltage and reduced bit-width of accelerator architectures to increase the DNN's error tolerance and achieve the accelerator's energy efficiency,and 2)efficiently mapping and swapping individual DNN data to a correspond-ing RRAM partition in a way that meets the endurance *** evaluation with representative DNN models demonstrates that LayCO outperforms the baseline RRAM buffer based accelerator by 27x improvement in energy effi-ciency(over TIMELY-like configuration),308x in lifetime prolongation and 6x in area reduction(over RAQ)while main-taining the DNN accuracy loss less than 1％.

The interpretability of stroke risk prediction is still lagging and it can be solved by using deep analysisofdata with the application of the Bayes rule. The prediction model has to be produced with accuracy, clarity, and comprehensibility without ambiguity, especially in machine learning and data analytics. The class imbalance problem is a common issue affecting the raw data, which means the imbalanced categorization of outcome feature value. In many fields, such as fraud detection, network intrusion detection, and medical diagnostics, this class imbalance issue is present where negative class samples outnumber positive class samples. If some datasets have class imbalance and imperfect issues, there will be no proper classification pattern. There are many resampling methods to address this class imbalance problem. However, these resampling methods can make an even distribution of classes by generating or omitting some samples, but theycannot handle imperfect data. The probabilistic analysis can lead to the identification of issues that exist in the dataset and provide direction to medical experts on dealing with the condition to avoid *** strength of applying the Bayes rule will provide a meaningful interpretation of stroke data. This paper investigates the Baye rule's significance in stroke data analysis. © 2023 IEEE.

With the recent advent of technology, social networks are accessible 24/7 using mobile devices. During covid-19 pandemic the propagation of misinformation are mostly related to the disease, its cures and prevention. With Twitter as the medium this information was spreaded to millions of people who lack domain specific knowledge. This can lead to bloster fear and direct damage to the people. This research focuses on identifying the veracity of the Twitter posts behind pandemic situation. The authors have proposed a Transformer Model using Bat Algorithm for identifying the fake news. This model is trained and evaluated using infodemic metadata. Our experimental results shows by which proposed model accurately detected the fake news and achieved 96.5% of f1-score. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently,object detection based on convolutional neural networks(CNNs)has developed *** backbone networks for basic feature extraction are an important component of the whole detection ***,we present a new feature extraction strategy in this paper,which name is *** this strategy,we design:1)a sandwich attention feature fusion module(SAFF module).Its purpose is to enhance the semantic information of shallow features and resolution of deep features,which is beneficial to small object detection after feature fusion.2)to add a new stage called D-block to alleviate the disadvantages of decreasing spatial resolution when the pooling layer increases the receptive *** method proposed in the new stage replaces the original method of obtaining the P6 feature map and uses the result as the input of the regional proposal network(RPN).In the experimental phase,we use the new strategy to extract *** experiment takes the public dataset of Microsoft Common Objects in Context(MS COCO)object detection and the dataset of Corona Virus Disease 2019(COVID-19)image classification as the experimental object *** results show that the average recognition accuracy of COVID-19 in the classification dataset is improved to 98.163%,and small object detection in object detection tasks is improved by 4.0%.

Vehicle-to-vehicle communication is one of the new paradigms of networking, which should be secure, fast, and efficient. In this paper, we propose a framework that implements the pseudonym-based authentication scheme in which communication among vehicles is encrypted by using a matrix array symmetric key (MASK), digital signature algorithm (DSA), and intelligent water drop (IWD). The proposed security scheme also ensures the handling of many security attacks like key-guessing, non-repudiation, replay, and modification. In the proposed scheme, to preserve the identity of the vehicle, we have provided the different pseudonyms for each vehicle in the network that ensure secure communication among vehicles. Furthermore, the proposed delay minimisation cover tree algorithm ensures the issue of timed delay during vehicle-to-vehicle communication. In this algorithm, we have used Dijkstra’s algorithm for finding the optimal shortest path during vehicular communication. The results obtained show that the proposed scheme is effective and efficient, as it reduces the time delay by 4% for 140 vehicle nodes and 28.4% for 1000 vehicle nodes. FVCap: An Approach to Understand Scanned Floor Plan Images Using Deep Learning and its Applications

Understanding the layouts and features of indoor scenes necessitates graphic recognition in scanned floor plan images. Scanning floor plans usually results in obvious and unanticipated interruptions. Accurately identifying symbols in such a scenario has long been a contentious issue in the document image analysis field. The task was performed with respectable efficiency using classic machine learning approaches such as hand-crafted features and deep neural networks. The strengths of the previously proposed Capsule network and VGG19 are combined in this research to create a hybrid network. The proposed network FVCap employs the VGG19 network for feature encoding and the Capsule network for classification and decoding from floor plan region images. The proposed approach can recognise and identify region elements in scanned floor plan images, as well as perform end-to-end room labeling with significantly more accuracy than other hybrid networks and conventional machine learning models. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2024.

In response to the limitations of existing unmanned surface vehicles in complex marine environments, where they often fail to meet the requirements for extended endurance, broad operational range, offshore missions, and prolonged operational durations, an autonomous Unmanned Surface Vehicle (NUSV) has been designed and developed. The NUSV is propelled by wind, solar, and wave energy sources. Concerning wind energy, a micro wind energy storage mechanism based on a spiral spring has been designed to enable power generation in low-wind conditions. A wave energy transmission device, complete with a dynamic model, has been devised for wave energy. This device converts torque generated from wave action in different directions into a unified torque, providing continuous power to drive the generator. Solar energy is harnessed using Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms to ensure optimal operation of the solar panels. The electrical energy generated from these three natural sources is stored using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and DC-DC Boost converters. A programmable logic controller manages and allocates this stored electrical energy for the NUSV's equipment, including underwater propulsion systems, surface cameras, laser radar, GPS, and other electronic devices. This integration of wind, solar, and wave energy sources enables the NUSV to meet power demands, allowing for long-duration operations at sea, extended offshore missions, wide operational ranges, and prolonged mission durations. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
