The secure authentication of user data is crucial in various sectors, including digital banking, medical applications and e-governance, especially for images. Secure communication protects against data tampering and forgery, thereby bolstering the foundation for informed decision-making, whether managing traffic, enhancing public safety, or monitoring environmental conditions. Conventional visual cryptographic protocols offer solutions, particularly for color images, though they grapple with challenges such as high computational demands and reliance on multiple cover images. Additionally, they often require third-party authorization to verify the image integrity. On the other hand, visual cryptography offers a streamlined approach. It divides images into shares, where each pixel represented uniquely, thus allowing visual decryption without complex computations. The optimized multi-tiered authentication protocol (OMTAP), which is integrated with the visual sharing scheme (VSS), takes secure image sharing to the next level. It reduces share count, prioritizes image fidelity and transmission security, and introduces the self-verification of decrypted image integrity through asymmetric key matrix generators, thus eliminating external validation. Rigorous testing has confirmed OMTAP's robustness and broad applicability, thereby ensuring that decrypted images maintain their quality with a peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) of 40 dB and full integrity at the receiver's end. © 2024 American institute of Mathematical sciences. This paper focuses on graph metric learning. First, we present a class of maximum mean discrepancy (MMD) based graph kernels, called MMD-GK. These kernels are computed by applying MMD to the node representations of two graphs with message-passing propagation. Secondly, we provide a class of deep MMD-GKs that are able to learn graph kernels and implicit graph features adaptively in an unsupervised manner. Thirdly, we propose a class of supervised deep MMD-GKs that are able to utilize label information of graphs and hence yield more discriminative metrics. Besides the algorithms, we provide theoretical analysis for the proposed methods. The proposed methods are evaluated in comparison to many baselines such as graph kernels and graph neural networks in the tasks of graph clustering and graph classification. The numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our methods. Jointly Defending DeepFake Manipulation and Adversarial Attack Using Decoy Mechanism

Highly realistic imaging and video synthesis have become possible and relatively simple tasks with the rapid growth of generative adversarial networks (GANs). GAN-related applications, such as DeepFake image and video manipulation and adversarial attacks, have been used to disrupt and confound the truth in images and videos over social media. DeepFake technology aims to synthesize high visual quality image content that can mislead the human vision system, while the adversarial perturbation attempts to mislead the deep neural networks to a wrong prediction. Defense strategy becomes difficult when adversarial perturbation and DeepFake are combined. This study examined a novel deceptive mechanism based on statistical hypothesis testing against DeepFake manipulation and adversarial attacks. First, a deceptive model based on two isolated sub-networks was designed to generate two-dimensional random variables with a specific distribution for detecting the DeepFake image and video. This research proposes a maximum likelihood loss for training the deceptive model with two isolated sub-networks. Afterward, a novel hypothesis was proposed for a testing scheme to detect the DeepFake video and images with a well-trained deceptive model. The comprehensive experiments demonstrated that the proposed decoy mechanism could be generalized to compressed and unseen manipulation methods for both DeepFake and attack detection. © 1979-2012 IEEE.

Skin cancer is a predominant and possibly lethal condition that distresses people across the world. Primary detection and precise finding are crucial for leveraging efficacious treatment and enhanced patient consequences. This research study explores the application off Artificial Intelligence (AI) resolutions for the primary finding and analysis of skin cancer. The study leverages a dataset of dermatological images and employs various ML methods, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Support Vector Machines (SVMs), and decision trees, to analyse the existence of skin cancer with a higher degree of accuracy. By utilizing a combination of image processing and feature extraction, the AI model demonstrates higher performance in classifying skin lesions into malignant or benign categories. The proposed model has achieved an accuracy rate of 98.52%, making the AI-based system a promising tool for dermatologists and healthcare professionals. © 2024 IEEE.

Financial fraud presents substantial risks to individuals and financial institutions globally, necessitating efficient detection mechanisms to mitigate probable fatalities. In this study, the development and evaluation of machine learning (ML) models for detecting fraudulent activities in mobile money transactions are investigated. Using a synthetic dataset, realworld transaction scenarios involving a variety of transaction kinds and features are simulated. The effectiveness of many machine learning (ML) methods, such as LGBM, random forests, XGBoost, and logistic regression, in spotting fraudulent transactions is investigated through data preparation, feature engineering, and model-building procedures. Employing techniques such as SMOTE-Tomek resampling and hyperparameter tuning enhances the performance and robustness of our models. Our results reveal that the XGBoost classifier emerges as the top-performing model, exhibiting a remarkable accuracy of 99.95%. The findings underscore the potential of MLbased approaches to bolster security and trust in mobile financial services, contributing to the ongoing advancement of fraud detection methodologies in the financial sector. © 2024 IEEE.

This research introduces an innovative Sign Language to Speech Conversion Model using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to address communication barriers for the people who are deaf and unable to hear properly. The model employs deep learning for the automatic extraction of spatial patterns from sign language images. A diverse sign language dataset is carefully curated, undergoing Pre-processing for improved quality. The HVAC system, energy storage building, distributed power supply, and other equipment are integrated into the scheduling algorithm, which is aimed at reducing household electricity consumption. It is also assumed that users can provide energy to the grid according to their own conditions. Taking electricity cost and comfort level as optimization targets, a home energy optimization control model for the coordinated management of hybrid energy sources is built. A smart scheduling mechanism based on the improved adaptive particle swarm optimization approach is proposed in order to derive the best time intervals for electric appliances, necessary power for the control of the room temperature for every time frame, and power for charging and discharging of the storage battery at various moments. Simulation results show that through the incorporation of distributed photovoltaic power generation, backup storage by battery, and home energy optimization control, the system efficiently balances between user comfort and electricity consumption. This offers great technical support to the development of home energy management systems. By using time-of-use electricity price for energy acquisition and supply, the optimization control goal is minimizing both power use and cost as well as preserving comfort levels. The hybrid energy management's proposed home energy optimization control model uses an adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm to find the optimal operation schedules of the electrical appliances, the required power for temperature control in a room, and the charge/discharge power level of the storage battery at each time interval. As per the optimization principle, the proposed dynamic programming algorithm converts the multi-stage problem into a sequence of single-stage problems and solves them separately. India's air quality deteriorated significantly in 2023, ranking third worst globally, highlighting the urgency for effective monitoring and mitigation measures. To comprehend past trends and predict future patterns, historical air pollution data from seven urban areas in Chennai was analyzed using the XGBoost Algorithm. This study aims to gain insights into Chennai's air quality, identify abnormalities, and issue timely warnings to the public and governing authorities. XGBoost was employed to forecast AQI, NO2, PM2.5, NOx, PM10, CO, SO2, NH3, and Ozone levels, outperforming traditional LSTM, Prophet, and ARIMA models. Evaluation using RMSE and MAE scores revealed XGBoost's efficacy, with scores of 20.65 and 14.35, respectively. The research highlights regions like Alandur, Arumbakkam, and Manali with notable concentrations of contaminants, emphasizing the need for immediate action. These findings highlight the significance of utilizing advanced algorithms for accurate air quality forecasting and proactive pollution management. © 2024 IEEE.

The number of cases of violence and fights has been increasing around the world. With the use of CCTV, such incidents can be recorded but the detection of Violence is a major issue around the globe, and it plays a vital role in the safety and security of the area. It helps in effective surveillance and law enforcement. The effectiveness of any violence detection system depends on the speed and accuracy with which it detects the events and how it performs over different types of videos of varied sizes and formats. In the proposed algorithm, the dataset used contains videos of different types and scenarios to help the model understand and train better. To improve the overall effectiveness of the model, Lightweight CNN MobileNetV2 has been used along with that Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM) has been used. Wentworth institute of Technology is a baccalaureate degree granting institution and in recent years we have also developed several Master's programs. Our department offers several degrees leading to a Bachelor of science in Computer science, Computer Networking, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and data science. All our programs are designed to be hands-on and expose students to a wide skill set. All our majors need to take several security-related courses. One of the latest security related courses we developed is in Quantum computing with a focus on security. Quantum computing is a groundbreaking technology that exploits the laws and properties of quantum mechanics. It can dramatically speed up computations of certain problems and surpass the computation power of modern supercomputers. One notable quantum algorithm we cover in our newly developed course is Grover's algorithm. It is used to search an unstructured database while providing quadratic speedup, compared to its classical counterpart. While demonstrating Grover's algorithm in the classroom, the students raise many questions and explaining all the details of the algorithm is challenging. In this paper, we explain and illustrate the theoretical and implementational challenges and provide examples and solutions. © 2023 IEEE.
