Depth estimation from a monocular 360 image is important to the perception of the entire 3D environment. However, the inherent distortion and large field of view (FoV) in 360 images pose great challenges for this task. To this end, existing mainstream solutions typically introduce additional perspective-based 360 representations (e.g., Cubemap) to achieve effective feature extraction. Nevertheless, regardless of the introduced representations, they eventually need to be unified into the equirectangular projection (ERP) format for the subsequent depth estimation, which inevitably reintroduces additional distortions. In this work, we propose an oriented-distortion-aware Gabor Fusion framework (PGFuse) to address the above challenges. First, we introduce Gabor filters that analyze texture in the frequency domain, extending the receptive fields and enhancing depth cues. To address the reintroduced distortions, we design a latitude-aware distortion representation to generate customized, distortion-aware Gabor filters (PanoGabor filters). Furthermore, we design a channel-wise and spatial-wise unidirectional fusion module (CS-UFM) that integrates the proposed PanoGabor filters to unify other representations into the ERP format, delivering effective and distortion-aware features. Considering the orientation sensitivity of the Gabor transform, we further introduce a spherical gradient constraint to stabilize this sensitivity. Experimental results on three popular indoor 360 benchmarks demonstrate the superiority of the proposed PGFuse to existing state-of-the-art solutions. The quick convergence in the industrial infrastructure with computing and networking has proliferated the attacks of industry-based Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). Protecting such massive, sophisticated, and varied industrial CPSs from cyber-attacks is difficult. This research proposed a novel Clustered Federated Learning (CFL) technique that identifies cyber-attacks against industrial CPSs. A CFL architecture enables many industrial CPS to create an extensive model for maintaining privacy. The contribution of the research is to identify the intrusion in the CPS using CFL that is highly effective in terms of accuracy, error rate, and MCC. CFL is a Federated Multi-Task Learning (FMTL) paradigm that groups the attacks into clusters with simultaneously trainable data distributions by taking advantage of geometric features of the Federated Learning (FL) loss surface. Extensive tests on an industrial CPS dataset show their proposed CFL technique's high efficacy in identifying cyber-attacks on industrial CPSs and its advantages over cutting-edge solutions. Experiments are conducted on gas pipelining system-based datasets. In this research study, the data resource is split into two main categories: training is 80%, and testing is 20%. The proposed CFL method is effective by attaining the highest accuracy of 99.3%, the minimal error rate of 86%, and the highest Mathews Coefficient Correlation (MCC) of 0.7994 for communication round 10. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Entity alignment (EA) identifies equivalent entities that locate in different knowledge graphs (KGs), and has attracted growing research interests over the last few years with the advancement of KG embedding techniques. Although a pile of embedding-based EA frameworks have been developed, they mainly focus on improving the performance of entity representation learning, while largely overlook the subsequent stage that matches $KGs$ in entity embedding spaces. Nevertheless, accurately matching entities based on learned entity representations is crucial to the overall alignment performance, as it coordinates individual alignment decisions and determines the global matching result. Hence, it is essential to understand how well existing solutions for matching KGs in entity embedding spaces perform on present benchmarks, as well as their strengths and weaknesses. To this end, in this article we provide a comprehensive survey and evaluation of matching algorithms for KGs in entity embedding spaces in terms of effectiveness and efficiency on both classic settings and new scenarios that better mirror real-life challenges. Based on in-depth analysis, we provide useful insights into the design trade-offs and good paradigms of existing works, and suggest promising directions for future development.

In this paper, a semantic communication framework for a scenario where the transmitter and the receiver have different knowledge is proposed. In the proposed framework, the transmitter extracts semantic information from the data according to its knowledge and sends it to the receiver. The receiver requires to process the received semantic information based on its knowledge. Here, the knowledge implies a method which the transmitter or the receiver can use to process the semantic information. Since the transmitter or the receiver have different knowledge, they may have different understandings for the same information. To ensure the receiver can understand the semantic information, the transmitter requires to estimate the receiver's knowledge by asking a series of questions about the transmitted data. By evaluating the difference between the answers of the receiver and the answers of the transmitter, the transmitter can adjust the method of semantic information extraction. Since the size of the extracted semantic information and the number of the questions that the transmitter can ask are limited, the transmitter must adjust the method of semantic information extraction and select appropriate questions to transmit. This problem is formulated as an optimization problem whose goal is to maximize the similarity of answers of the transmitter and the receiver by determining semantic information while minimizing the semantic similarity of answers by determining the questions to be transmitted. To solve this problem, an adversarial reinforcement learning (ARL) algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm, which consists of a semantic information RL and a question RL, can find the optimal semantic information generation scheme and question selection scheme by a competitive game between two agents. Satellite high aerial platform terrestrial integrated networks have become the hot topic these years, which have been regarded as the major part of the intelligence of things for future networks. During this work, we investigate the secrecy performance for rate-splitting multiple access-assisted satellite high aerial platform terrestrial integrated networks. Besides, imperfect hardware and channel estimation errors are considered in the secrecy networks. Moreover, to enhance the energy utilization efficiency, rate-splitting multiple access scheme is utilized into the considered network, which is prior to that of the non-orthogonal multiple access scheme. What's more, to enhance the satellite transmission, multiple high aerial platforms are used to forward the transmission along with multiple eavesdroppers. In addition, the direct transmission link is not considered in the secrecy networks due to the heavy fading and obstacles. Relied on the former considerations, the exact and asymptotic analysis for the secrecy performance is further obtained to confirm the rightness of the analysis. Neurite Orientation Dispersion and Density Imaging (NODDI) is an important imaging technology used to evaluate the microstructure of brain tissue, which is of great significance for the discovery and treatment of various neurological diseases. Current deep learning-based methods perform parameter estimation through diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) with a small number of diffusion gradients. These methods speed up parameter estimation and improve accuracy. However, the diffusion directions used by most existing deep learning models during testing needs to be strictly consistent with the diffusion directions during training. This results in poor generalization and robustness of deep learning models in dMRI parameter estimation. In this work, we first verify that the parameter estimation performance of current mainstream methods will significantly decrease when the testing diffusion directions and the training diffusion directions are inconsistent. A robust NODDI parameter estimation method with adaptive sampling under continuous representation (RobNODDI) is proposed. Furthermore, long short-term memory (LSTM) units and fully connected layers are selected to learn continuous representation signals. To this end, we use a total of 100 subjects to conduct experiments based on the Human Connectome Project (HCP) dataset, of which 60 are used for training, 20 are used for validation, and 20 are used for testing. The test results indicate that RobNODDI improves the generalization performance and robustness of the deep learning model, enhancing the stability and flexibility of deep learning NODDI parameter estimatimation applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

GS-OCTREE: OCTREE-BASED 3D GAUSSIAN SPLATTING FOR ROBUST OBJECT-LEVEL 3D RECONSTRUCTION UNDER STRONG LIGHTING

The 3D Gaussian Splatting technique has significantly advanced the construction of radiance fields from multi-view images, enabling real-time rendering. While point-based rasterization effectively reduces computational demands for rendering, it often struggles to accurately reconstruct the geometry of the target object, especially under strong lighting. To address this challenge, we introduce a novel approach that combines octree-based implicit surface representations with Gaussian splatting. Our method consists of four stages. Initially, it reconstructs a signed distance field (SDF) and a radiance field through volume rendering, encoding them in a low-resolution octree. The initial SDF represents the coarse geometry of the target object. Subsequently, it introduces 3D Gaussians as additional degrees of freedom, which are guided by the SDF. In the third stage, the optimized Gaussians further improve the accuracy of the SDF, allowing it to recover finer geometric details compared to the initial SDF obtained in the first stage. Finally, it adopts the refined SDF to further optimize the 3D Gaussians via splatting, eliminating those that contribute little to visual appearance. Experimental results show that our method, which leverages the distribution of 3D Gaussians with SDFs, reconstructs more accurate geometry, particularly in images with specular highlights caused by strong lighting. Heart Disease or cardiovascular disease refers to the range of heart conditions like cardiac arrest, coronary artery disease. Heart disease can be very well hindered through certain lifestyle changes. There is a significant increase in the mortality rate recently due to the distinctive heart diseases. Machine learning uses mathematical models to work efficiently with the enormous amount of data. It plays a crucial role in medical science in the prediction of distinctive diseases. Cardiologists inspects the heart functionality using electrocardiography, computed tomography. These tests are quite expensive for a common man. Recent times, the life span of a human is guaranteed only with the support of medications. As prevention is better than the cure, machine learning helps to predict the vulnerability of a heart disease with few elemental symptoms and health factors. It is been fed by the basic data of the patients like age, sex. Machine learning helps to predict the vulnerability in advance which provides the cardiologists with great acumen for the adaption of the treatment. Machine learning algorithms have proven to produce reliable and accurate output with the help of the inputs. The algorithms used in the article include KNN and decision tree classifier which is compared to yield the desired and efficient output. © 2022 IEEE.

Towards Event Extraction with Massive Types: LLM-based Collaborative Annotation and Partitioning Extraction

Developing a general-purpose extraction system that can extract events with massive types is a long-standing target in Event Extraction (EE). In doing so, the challenge comes from two aspects: 1) The absence of an efficient and effective annotation method. 2) The absence of a powerful extraction method can handle massive types. For the first challenge, we propose a collaborative annotation method based on Large Language Models (LLMs). Through collaboration among multiple LLMs, it first refines annotations of trigger words from distant supervision and then carries out argument annotation. Next, a voting phase consolidates the annotation preferences across different LLMs. Finally, we create the EEMT dataset, the largest EE dataset to date, featuring over 200,000 samples, 3,465 event types, and 6,297 role types. For the second challenge, we propose an LLM-based Partitioning EE method called LLM-PEE. To overcome the limited context length of LLMs, LLM-PEE first recalls candidate event types and then splits them into multiple partitions for LLMs to extract events. The results in the supervised setting show that LLM-PEE outperforms the state-of-the-art methods by 5.4% in event detection and 6.1% in argument extraction. In the zero-shot setting, LLM-PEE achieves up to 12.9% improvement compared to mainstream LLMs, demonstrating its strong generalization capabilities. Copyright © 2025, The Authors.
