Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) can reconfigure the channel conditions, while the passive beamforming gain is limited by the severe double path-loss effect. Fortunately, active IRS (AIRS) is emerging to tackle obstacles by simultaneously adjusting the phases and amplitudes. In this paper, we propose an AIRS-assisted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-relaying scheme, where the AIRS is equipped on the UAV to reflect the signal from the ground base station (GBS) to users via non-orthogonal multiple access. We jointly adjust transmit beamforming, reflection matrix and UAV trajectory to maximize the average sum rate, which is non-convex. Thus, the problem is decomposed into three subproblems via block coordinate descent. The beamforming optimization is solved through semidefinite relaxation. Then, the reflection matrix of AIRS and UAV trajectory are jointly optimized via successive convex approximation. Finally, we design an iterative algorithm to effectively tackle the original problem. Simulation results are shown to verify the performance of the designed scheme.

Neural Vector Search (NVS) has exhibited superior search quality over traditional key-based strategies for information retrieval tasks. An effective NVS architecture requires high recall, low latency, and high throughput to enhance user experience and cost-efficiency. However, implementing NVS on existing neural network accelerators and vector search accelerators is sub-optimal due to the separation between the embedding stage and vector search stage at both algorithm and architecture levels. Fortunately, we unveil that Product Quantization (PQ) opens up an opportunity to break separation. However, existing PQ algorithms and accelerators still focus on either the embedding stage or the vector search stage, rather than both simultaneously. Simply combining existing solutions still follows the beaten track of separation and suffers from insufficient parallelization, frequent data access conflicts, and the absence of scheduling, thus failing to reach optimal recall, latency, and throughput. To this end, we propose a unified and efficient NVS accelerator dubbed NeuVSA based on algorithm and architecture co-design philosophy. Specifically, on the algorithm level, we propose a learned PQ-based unified NVS algorithm that consolidates two separate stages into the same computing and memory access paradigm. It integrates an end-to-end joint training strategy to learn the optimal codebook and index for enhanced recall and reduced PQ complexity, thus achieving smoother acceleration. On the architecture level, we customize a homogeneous NVS accelerator based on the unified NVS algorithm. Each sub-accelerator is optimized to exploit all parallelism exposed by unified NVS, incorporating a structured index assignment strategy and an elastic on-chip buffer to alleviate buffer conflicts for reduced latency. Simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) can be assembled in the air-ground integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) to further enhance the performance. However, the near-field effect should be further considered with higher carrier frequency and increasing number of STAR-RIS elements. In this paper, we propose a STAR-RIS enabled air-ground near-field ISAC scheme, where the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is deployed as a mobile base station and the semi-passive architecture is adopted to alleviate the severe path loss. We maximize the weighted sum rate to guarantee both the communication and sensing by modifying the beamforming vectors, the reflection/transmission matrices and the hovering location of UAV to match the near-field effect. To address this challenge, we first divide it into three subproblems, which are recast into convex ones by the semidefinite relaxation and successive convex approximation. Finally, we develop an alternate algorithm to iteratively solve them. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate the superiority and validity of the proposed scheme.

With the development and popularization of Internet technology, network security has become the focus of attention. Vulnerabilities and back doors are regarded as two of the main reasons of network security problems. Dynamic heterogeneous redundant (DHR) architecture is a typical framework of cyberspace mimic defense. It can make use of untrusted hardware and software components to construct a high reliable and high security information system. In this article, a mathematical model is set up for the DHR architecture, and the system security is characterized by vulnerability consistency rate and success rate of system attack. The antiattack ability of the DHR system is analyzed using the mathematical model. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

In this study, a multi-degree-of-freedom (Multi-DOF) robot (MDR) system based on a LightGBM-driven electroencephalogram (EEG) decoding model is designed and developed to assist subjects with hand motor dysfunction in their daily activities and neurorehabilitation. The system mainly consists of a motor imagery electroencephalogram (MI-EEG) evoking layer, an intention decoding layer, and an interaction executive layer. The MI-EEG evoking layer initially displays a virtual reality (VR) motion imagination scenario, instructing the subjects to imagine a real hand gripping movement, simultaneously collecting the electrical EEG signals and preprocessing the EEG signals. Secondly, in the intention decoding layer, a network combining temporal-spectral feature fusion and LightGBM (TSFF-LightGBM) for MI-BCI classification is used to more effectively boost brain decoding accuracy and decrease decoding time. Finally, in the interaction executive layer, the Multi-DOF wearable robot is developed to offer hand grasp motion kinesthetic feedback and visual feedback synced with MI. The following are the key benefits of the proposed MDR system: (1) We propose a new lightweight network structure more suitable for brain computer interface (BCI) interaction systems, achieving more accurate decoding and shorter identification time in different data sets, which helps to improve the practicability of the system and promote the practical clinical application of BCI rehabilitation technology. (2) We integrate BCI, VR, a wearable Multi-DOF robot, motion kinesthetic feedback, and visual feedback to improve human-machine interaction. Compared to the most recent investigations, the average accuracy of the MDR system on the publicly accessible datasets BCI IV 2a and HGD reached 75.89% and 93.53%, respectively. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

In this paper, the problem of resource allocation for non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) enabled secure federated learning (FL) is investigated. In the considered model, a set of users participate in the FL training through transmitting their trained FL model parameters to the base stations (BSs) via NOMA techniques. To prevent data leakage, each user uses the differential privacy (DP) technique through adding Gaussian noise to its FL model parameters. The problem of minimizing overall privacy leakage of all FL participaring users is formulated as an optimization problem through jointly optimizing the connections between users and BSs, transmit power of the users, and the DP noise power. To solve the formulated non-convex optimization problem, a genetic algorithm is proposed to search for feasible solutions in which user connection matrix is taken as gene and the objective function value is taken as the fitness of solution. Simulation results show that the proposed genetic algorithm reduces privacy leakage by up to 73% compared to the conventional alternating optimization algorithm.

Distance metric learning (DML) aims to find an appropriate way to reveal the underlying data relationship. It is critical in many machine learning, pattern recognition and data mining algorithms, and usually require large amount of label information (such as class labels or pair/triplet constraints) to achieve satisfactory performance. However, the label information may be insufficient in real-world applications due to the high-labeling cost, and DML may fail in this case. Transfer metric learning (TML) is able to mitigate this issue for DML in the domain of interest (target domain) by leveraging knowledge/information from other related domains (source domains). Although achieved a certain level of development, TML has limited success in various aspects such as selective transfer, theoretical understanding, handling complex data, big data and extreme cases. In this survey, we present a systematic review of the TML literature. In particular, we group TML into different categories according to different settings and metric transfer strategies, such as direct metric approximation, subspace approximation, distance approximation, and distribution approximation. A summarization and insightful discussion of the various TML approaches and their applications will be presented. Finally, we indicate some challenges and provide possible future directions.

Adaptive Contextual Caching for Mobile Edge Large Language Model Service

Mobile edge Large Language Model (LLM) deployments face inherent constraints, such as limited computational resources and network bandwidth. Although Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) mitigates some challenges by integrating external knowledge bases, inefficient cache management can still result in high retrieval latency and frequent cache updates. To address these issues, we propose an Adaptive Contextual Caching (ACC) framework that anticipates user needs by proactively caching semantically relevant data for mobile-edge LLMs. ACC utilizes a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) module to refine cache replacement policies, balancing user context, document similarity, and the overhead associated with cache misses. Experimental results demonstrate that ACC increases cache hit rates to over 80% after only 11 training episodes, outperforming FIFO, LRU, and semantic-only caching while reducing retrieval latency by up to 40%. In particular, ACC also reduces local caching overhead (i.e., the cost of updating the cache when a miss occurs) by as much as 55%, enabling scalable, low-latency LLM services in resource-constrained edge environments. © 2025, CC BY.

High-resolution point clouds (HRPCD) anomaly detection (AD) plays a critical role in precision machining and high-end equipment manufacturing. Despite considerable 3D-AD methods that have been proposed recently, they still cannot meet the requirements of the HRPCD-AD task. There are several challenges: i) It is difficult to directly capture HRPCD information due to large amounts of points at the sample level;ii) The advanced transformer-based methods usually obtain anisotropic features, leading to degradation of the representation;iii) The proportion of abnormal areas is very small, which makes it difficult to characterize. To address these challenges, we propose a novel group-level feature-based network, called Group3AD, which has a significantly efficient representation ability. First, we design an Intercluster Uniformity Network (IUN) to present the mapping of different groups in the feature space as several clusters, and obtain a more uniform distribution between clusters representing different parts of the point clouds in the feature space. Then, an Intracluster Alignment Network (IAN) is designed to encourage groups within the cluster to be distributed tightly in the feature space. In addition, we propose an Adaptive Group-Center Selection (AGCS) based on geometric information to improve the pixel density of potential anomalous regions during inference. The experimental results verify the effectiveness of our proposed Group3AD, which surpasses Reg3D-AD by the margin of 5% in terms of object-level AUROC on Real3D-AD. The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has driven the intelligent transformation of various industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, and healthcare, etc., significantly enhancing their management capabilities and decision-making efficiency. data analysis is crucial, serving as both the core technology of this transformation and a major driving force for advancing industry intelligence. However, the increasing volume of data has led to high energy consumption during data analysis, posing significant challenges to environmental and economic sustainability. Integrating renewable energy sources (RESs) is an effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions due to their low-carbon and renewable nature. Additionally, the spatiotemporal variability and complementarity of RES generation and grid electricity prices provide favorable conditions for distributed data processing. Therefore, a two-stage demand response scheme is proposed to reduce carbon emissions and electricity costs by prioritizing data processing in data centers (DCs) where RES is abundant or electricity prices are low, based on RES generation and electricity price signals. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme reduces 36.37% carbon emissions and 20.49% electricity costs compared to the benchmark algorithm, indicating its potential for both environmental and economic optimization. © 2024 IEEE.
