High-dimensional and incomplete (HDI) matrix contains many complex interactions between numerous nodes. A stochastic gradient descent (SGD)-based latent factor analysis (LFA) model is remarkably effective in extracting valuable information from an HDI matrix. However, such a model commonly encounters the problem of slow convergence because a standard SGD algorithm only considers the current learning error to compute the stochastic gradient without considering the historical and future state of the learning error. To address this critical issue, this paper innovatively proposes an ADRC-incorporated SGD (ADS) algorithm by refining the instance learning error by considering the historical and future state by following the principle of an ADRC controller. With it, an ADS-based LFA model is further achieved for fast and accurate latent factor analysis on an HDI matrix. Empirical studies on two HDI datasets demonstrate that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art LFA models in terms of computational efficiency and accuracy for predicting the missing data of an HDI matrix. Traffic congestion has become an inevitable situation faced by all countries and the prediction accuracy of traffic flow, as one of the means to solve this problem, still needs to be improved. Most studies lack the consideration of the influence of multiple factors such as spatial factors, time series factors and other external factors, which makes the prediction effect of traffic flow unsatisfactory. In this paper a method is proposed based on deep learning that can capture the geographic spatial relationship among toll stations, the dynamic temporal relationship of historical traffic flow, extreme weather and calendar types. On the three metrics of MAPE, MAE, and RMSE, the prediction effect of our model has increased by 30% compared with KNN, GBRT and LSTM models. © 2021, ICST institute for Computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

This paper presents the design and implementation of an automated assignment management system utilizing a bot interface. The system’ s primary objective is to streamline the process of collecting and tracking student assignments, ensuring timely updates to a central database, and facilitating communication between students and teachers. The bot employs email inbox parsing techniques to identify incoming assignment submissions, extracting relevant data such as student names, assignment details, and submission timestamps. Upon receiving a submission, the bot updates an Excel database with the pertinent information, maintaining an organized record of completed ***, the system incorporates a notification feature to promptly alert students who have not yet submitted their assignments by the deadline. Leveraging email integration, the bot sends personalized notifications reminding students of impending deadlines and urging them to submit their work promptly. Additionally, the bot generates a list of incomplete assignments and forwards it to the respective teacher, providing a consolidated overview of students who require *** automating the assignment management process, this system reduces manual intervention, minimizes administrative burden, and enhances efficiency in monitoring student progress. Dynamic graphs (DG) describe dynamic interactions between entities in many practical scenarios. Most existing DG representation learning models combine graph convolutional network and sequence neural network, which model spatial-temporal dependencies through two different types of neural networks. However, this hybrid design cannot well capture the spatial-temporal continuity of a DG. In this paper, we propose a tensor graph convolutional network to learn DG representations in one convolution framework based on the tensor product with the following two-fold ideas: a) representing the information of DG by tensor form;b) adopting tensor product to design a tensor graph convolutional network modeling spatial-temporal feature simultaneously. Rethink Video Retrieval Representation for Video Captioning

Video captioning, a challenging task targeting the automatic generation of accurate and comprehensive descriptions based on video content, has witnessed substantial success recently driven by bridging video representations and textual semantics. Inspired by the nature of the video retrieval task, which learns visual features strongly related to text queries, we propose to take advantage of visual representation learning from the video retrieval framework to tackle video captioning tasks. However, a simple direct application of video retrieval models performs poorly due to the weak ability to capture sufficient video details and temporal information required for video captioning. To increase the attention on details, we propose a learnable token shift module, which flexibly captures subtle movements in local regions across the temporal sequence. Furthermore, we devise a Refineformer, which learns to integrate local video tokens strongly related to desired captions via a cross-attention mechanism. Extensive experiments on MSVD, MSR-VTT and VATEX demonstrate the favorable performance of our method. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Digital twins are a relatively new concept that have lately garnered interest in the industrial sector. Digital twins are virtual models that mirror actual products. In this research, we suggest using the technology of digital twins to the field of healthcare in order to enhance clinical decision support and to provide more individualized treatment for patients. When artificial intelligence (AI) is combined with digital twins, healthcare professionals are able to more effectively analyze large volumes of varied data and increase their ability to make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions. In this research, we provide a conceptual framework for leveraging digital twins and AI to solve existing limits in cancer care, notably endometrial cancer therapy. This research study mainly focuses on cancer care, and more specifically on endometrial cancer treatment. In addition, we analyze the possible challenges and opportunities that may arise throughout the process of integrating this technology in healthcare settings. Our overarching objective is to improve the standard of treatment as well as the clinical results for people who have cancer.

This paper explores a novel multi-modal alternating learning paradigm pursuing a reconciliation between the exploitation of uni-modal features and the exploration of cross-modal interactions. This is motivated by the fact that current paradigms of multi-modal learning tend to explore multi-modal features simultaneously. The resulting gradient prohibits further exploitation of the features in the weak modality, leading to modality competition, where the dominant modality overpowers the learning process. To address this issue, we study the modality-alternating learning paradigm to achieve reconcilement. Specifically, we propose a new method called ReconBoost to update a fixed modality each time. Herein, the learning objective is dynamically adjusted with a reconcilement regularization against competition with the historical models. By choosing a KL-based reconcilement, we show that the proposed method resembles Friedman's Gradient-Boosting (GB) algorithm, where the updated learner can correct errors made by others and help enhance the overall performance. The major difference with the classic GB is that we only preserve the newest model for each modality to avoid overfitting caused by ensembling strong learners. Furthermore, we propose a memory consolidation scheme and a global rectification scheme to make this strategy more effective. Experiments over six multi-modal benchmarks speak to the efficacy of the method. We release the code at https://***/huacong/ReconBoost.

In this paper, the use of channel state information (CSI) for indoor positioning is investigated. In the considered model, a base station (BS) equipped with several antennas sends pilot signals to a user that transmits the received pilot signals back to the BS. The BS will use the received CSI data to estimate the position of the user. To this end, we formulate this positioning problem as an optimization problem aiming to minimize the mean square error between the estimated position and the actual position of the user. To solve this problem, we design a complex-valued neural network (CVNN) based positioning algorithm. Compared to real-valued neural networks (RVNNs) that need to convert complex-valued CSI data into real-valued data, the proposed method uses original CSI data to train the CVNN model for user positioning. Since the output of our proposed algorithm is complex-valued and it consists of the real and imaginary parts, we can use it to implement two learning tasks. Based on this property, two use cases of the proposed algorithm are proposed: 1) the algorithm directly outputs the estimated position of the user. Here, the real and imaginary parts of an output neuron represent the 2D coordinates of the user, 2) the algorithm outputs two CSI features (i.e., line-of-sight/non-line-of-sight transmission link classification and time of arrival (TOA) prediction) which can be used in traditional positioning algorithms. Simulation results demonstrate that our designed CVNN based algorithm can reduce the mean positioning error between the estimated position and the actual position by up to 11.1%, compared to a RVNN based method which has to transform CSI data into real-valued data.

Bidirectional Logits Tree: Pursuing Granularity Reconcilement in Fine-Grained Classification

This paper addresses the challenge of Granularity Competition in fine-grained classification tasks, which arises due to the semantic gap between multi-granularity labels. Existing approaches typically develop independent hierarchy-aware models based on shared features extracted from a common base encoder. However, because coarse-grained levels are inherently easier to learn than finer ones, the base encoder tends to prioritize coarse feature abstractions, which impedes the learning of fine-grained features. To overcome this challenge, we propose a novel framework called the Bidirectional Logits Tree (BiLT) for Granularity Reconcilement. The key idea is to develop classifiers sequentially from the finest to the coarsest granularities, rather than parallelly constructing a set of classifiers based on the same input features. In this setup, the outputs of finer-grained classifiers serve as inputs for coarser-grained ones, facilitating the flow of hierarchical semantic information across different granularities. On top of this, we further introduce an Adaptive Intra-Granularity Difference Learning (AIGDL) approach to uncover subtle semantic differences between classes within the same granularity. HairDiffusion: Vivid Multi-Colored Hair Editing via Latent Diffusion

Hair editing is a critical image synthesis task that aims to edit hair color and hairstyle using text descriptions or reference images, while preserving irrelevant attributes (e.g., identity, background, cloth). Many existing methods are based on StyleGAN to address this task. However, due to the limited spatial distribution of StyleGAN, it struggles with multiple hair color editing and facial preservation. Considering the advancements in diffusion models, we utilize Latent Diffusion Models (LDMs) for hairstyle editing. Our approach introduces Multi-stage Hairstyle Blend (MHB), effectively separating control of hair color and hairstyle in diffusion latent space. Additionally, we train a warping module to align the hair color with the target region. To further enhance multi-color hairstyle editing, we fine-tuned a CLIP model using a multi-color hairstyle dataset. Our method not only tackles the complexity of multi-color hairstyles but also addresses the challenge of preserving original colors during diffusion editing. Extensive experiments showcase the superiority of our method in editing multi-color hairstyles while preserving facial attributes given textual descriptions and reference images. © 2024, CC BY.
