Predicting the long-term success of endovascular interventions in the clinical management of cerebral aneurysms requires detailed insight into the patient-specific physiological conditions. In this work, we not only propose numerical representations of endovascular medical devices such as coils, flow diverters or Woven EndoBridge but also outline numerical models for the prediction of blood flow patterns in the aneurysm cavity right after a surgical intervention. Detailed knowledge about the post-surgical state then lays the basis to assess the chances of a stable occlusion of the aneurysm required for a long-term treatment success. To this end, we propose mathematical and mechanical models of endovascular medical devices made out of thin metal wires. These can then be used for fully resolved flow simulations of the post-surgical blood flow, which in this work will be performed by means of a Lattice Boltzmann method applied to the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and patient-specific geometries. To probe the suitability of homogenized models, we also investigate poro-elastic models to represent such medical devices. In particular, we examine the validity of this modeling approach for flow diverter placement across the opening of the aneurysm cavity. For both approaches, physiologically meaningful boundary conditions are provided from reduced-order models of the vascular system. The present study demonstrates our capabilities to predict the post-surgical state and lays a solid foundation to tackle the prediction of thrombus formation and, thus, the aneurysm occlusion in a next step. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

C-V2X, as an end-to-end wireless communication network for intelligent transportation system, may lead to degradation of its communication quality in the case of high vehicle density, and the large-scale field test provides a test environment for its possible situation. whether the communication performance of C-V2X system in the large-scale field test can meet the technical requirements is the premise of whether C-V2X system can be applied and promoted in China. At this stage, the data after the large-scale test is only analyzed in terms of time delay and packet error rate(PER), and only the analysis of these two indicators is not able to judge whether the equipment meets the technical indicators in the large-scale scenario. In this paper, we propose an analysis and evaluation scheme for the data after the communication performance of vehicle devices in large-scale tests, add the evaluation indexes of interval delay jitter and throughput, and propose some improvement schemes for the existing test data saving format.

Trajectory tracking of zebrafish is an important requirement in studying neurological disorders and developing new psychoactive drug. However, many challenges emerge for stable tracking, since zebrafish are similar in appearance, occlusion, agile, non-linear in moving and easy to swarm, all of which will lead to mistrack for multiple fish. And there is no precedent for tracking zebrafish through embedded edge artificial intelligence device. To overcome these difficulties, we present a tracking system for zebrafish based on RK3588-S. First, We construct an embedded edge AI hardware system consisting of two cameras driven by the RK3588-S, one for the front view and the other for top view of the fish. Then, we develop a 2D tracking algorithm based on YOLOv5 and the Observation-Centric Simple online and real-time tracking (OC-SORT) algorithm, which are transplanted to the RK3588-S for tracking the top and front views of the fish at the edge device. Compared with the previous methods, our method has fewer ID exchanges and highly real-time. Moreover, we apply the MQTT mechanism to establish communication links between the edge and the cloud to reliably transmit data to the cloud. The correspondence between cloud server and embedded AI is 1: N. Finally, we design a multi-view data fusion association algorithm to fuse the data of the two views in the cloud, which are further utilized to build the 3D tracklets of the zebrafish.

Efficient Low-Resolution Face Recognition via Bridge Distillation

Face recognition in the wild is now advancing towards light-weight models, fast inference speed and resolution-adapted capability. In this paper, we propose a bridge distillation approach to turn a complex face model pretrained on private high-resolution faces into a light-weight one for low-resolution face recognition. In our approach, such a cross-dataset resolution-adapted knowledge transfer problem is solved via two-step distillation. In the first step, we conduct cross-dataset distillation to transfer the prior knowledge from private high-resolution faces to public high-resolution faces and generate compact and discriminative features. In the second step, the resolution-adapted distillation is conducted to further transfer the prior knowledge to synthetic low-resolution faces via multi-task learning. By learning low-resolution face representations and mimicking the adapted high-resolution knowledge, a light-weight student model can be constructed with high efficiency and promising accuracy in recognizing low-resolution faces. Experimental results show that the student model performs impressively in recognizing low-resolution faces with only 0.21M parameters and 0.057MB memory. Meanwhile, its speed reaches up to 14,705, 934 and 763 faces per second on GPU, CPU and mobile phone, respectively. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Stochastic gradient descent (SGD) algorithm is an effective learning strategy to build a latent factor analysis (LFA) model on a high-dimensional and incomplete (HDI) matrix. A particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is commonly adopted to make an SGD-based LFA model's hyper-parameters, i.e., learning rate and regularization coefficient, self-adaptation. However, a standard PSO algorithm may suffer from accuracy loss caused by premature convergence. To address this issue, this paper incorporates more historical information into each particle's evolutionary process for avoiding premature convergence following the principle of a generalized-momentum (GM) method, thereby innovatively achieving a novel GM-incorporated PSO (GM-PSO). With it, a GM-PSO-based LFA (GMPL) model is further achieved to implement efficient self-adaptation of hyper-parameters. The experimental results on three HDI matrices demonstrate that the GMPL model achieves a higher prediction accuracy for missing data estimation in industrial applications.

In this paper, a novel paradigm of mobile edge-quantum computing (MEQC) is proposed, which brings quantum computing capacities to mobile edge networks that are closer to mobile users (i.e., edge devices). First, we propose an MEQC system model where mobile users can offload computational tasks to scalable quantum computers via edge servers with cryogenic components and fault-tolerant schemes. Second, we show that it is NP-hard to obtain a centralized solution to the partial offloading problem in MEQC in terms of the optimal latency and energy cost of classical and quantum computing. Third, we propose a multi-agent hybrid discrete-continuous deep reinforcement learning using proximal policy optimization to learn the long-term sustainable offloading strategy without prior knowledge. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can reduce at least 30% of the cost compared with the existing baseline solutions under different system settings. © 2022, CC BY.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) systems have shown notable improvements in efficiency, such as reduced latency, higher data rates, and better energy efficiency. However, the resource competition among users will lead to uneven allocation, increased latency, and lower throughput. Fortunately, the rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) technique has emerged as a promising solution for managing interference and optimizing resource allocation in MEC systems. This paper studies an IRS-assisted MEC system with RSMA, aiming to jointly optimize the passive beamforming of the IRS, the active beamforming of the base station, the task offloading allocation, the transmit power of users, the ratios of public and private information allocation, and the decoding order of the RSMA to minimize the average delay from a novel uplink transmission perspective. Since the formulated problem is non-convex and the optimization variables are highly coupled, we propose a hierarchical deep reinforcement learning-based algorithm to optimize both continuous and discrete variables of the problem. Additionally, to better extract channel features, we design a novel network architecture within the policy and evaluation networks of the proposed algorithm, combining convolutional neural networks and densely connected convolutional network for feature extraction. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm not only exhibits excellent convergence performance but also outperforms various benchmarks. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. ER: Equivariance Regularizer for Knowledge Graph Completion

Tensor factorization and distanced based models play important roles in knowledge graph completion (KGC). However, the relational matrices in KGC methods often induce a high model complexity, bearing a high risk of overfitting. As a remedy, researchers propose a variety of different regularizers such as the tensor nuclear norm regularizer. Our motivation is based on the observation that the previous work only focuses on the "size" of the parametric space, while leaving the implicit semantic information widely untouched. To address this issue, we propose a new regularizer, namely, Equivariance Regularizer (ER), which can suppress overfitting by leveraging the implicit semantic information. Specifically, ER can enhance the generalization ability of the model by employing the semantic equivariance between the head and tail entities. Moreover, it is a generic solution for both distance based models and tensor factorization based models. The experimental results indicate a clear and substantial improvement over the state-of-the-art relation prediction methods. © 2022, CC BY.

ATHENA: An In-vehicle CAN Intrusion Detection Framework Based on Physical Characteristics of Vehicle Systems

With the growing interconnection between In-Vehicle Networks (IVNs) and external environments, intelligent vehicles are increasingly vulnerable to sophisticated external network attacks. This paper proposes ATHENA, the first IVN intrusion detection framework that adopts a vehicle-cloud integrated architecture to achieve better security performance for the resource-constrained vehicular environment. Specifically, in the cloud with sufficient resources, ATHENA uses the clustering method of multi-distribution mixture model combined with deep data mining technology to generate the raw Payload Rule Bank of IVN CAN messages, and then improves the rule quality with the help of exploitation on the first-principled physical knowledge of the vehicle system, after which the payload rules are periodically sent to the vehicle terminal. At the vehicle terminal, a simple LSTM component is used to generate the Time Rule Bank representing the long-term time series dependencies and the periodic characteristics of CAN messages, but not for any detection tasks as in traditional usage scenarios, where only the generated time rules are the candidates for further IVN intrusion detection tasks. Based on both the payload and time rules generated from cloud and vehicle terminal, ATHENA can achieve efficient intrusion detection capability by simple rule-base matching operations, rather than using complex black-box reasoning of resource-intensive neural network models, which is in fact only used for rule logic generation phase instead of the actual intrusion detection phase in our framework. Comparative experimental results on the ROAD dataset, which is current the most outstanding real-world in-vehicle CAN dataset covering new instances of sophisticated and stealthy masquerade attacks, demonstrate ATHENA significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art IVN intrusion detection methods in detecting complex attacks. Covert Air-Ground Relaying With Blockages

Although deploying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can provide line-of-sight (LoS) links to extend the coverage, it also poses severe challenges for covert air-ground transmission. ln this paper, we investigate the covert air-ground finite-blocklength communication with ground blockages, where the UAV acts as an aerial relay to achieve the long-distance transmission. First, we analyze the warden detection performance with its optimal detection threshold derived, which is the worst case for the legitimate transmission. To maximize the covert transmission rate while satisfying the covertness constraint, the blocklength, the transmit power, and the position of UAV are jointly optimized. By analyzing the monotonicity of transmit power and blocklength with respect to the relative entropy, we derive their closed-form solutions. Then, we analyze the optimal hovering position of UAV from two perspectives of the distance and the elevation angle between UAV and transmitter. Specifically, we obtain an optimal elevation angle with fixed distance and the optimal distance with fixed elevation angle through analyzing the received signal-to-noise ratio and the feasible hovering regions of UAV. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed covert UAV relaying scheme with ground blockages. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
