In order to provide a qualitative support to the users during a web search, it is important to have access to a multitude of information sources simultaneously. Depending on the available domain expertise, the user can get an overview and insight to different information perspectives and compare the quality of resources. In this work, we present an exploratory search engine that simultaneously accesses internet resources and a local knowledge base given in the form of ontologies. The ontologies are used to define the search context and can be extended during exploration with new information, thus making the search process adaptive and iterative. We demonstrate our system on an example from the fitness domain, where the user searches for physical training exercises on the Web to complete a personal training plan.

In scenarios where multiple parties such as the Internet of Things and Supply Chains participate in data sharing and computing, when accessing data, users not only need to accept the forward access control of the data owner, but also needs to perform reverse access control on the data, so as to realize two-way access control. In the traditional blockchain, all users can participate in accounting and view transaction data, and only protect user privacy through 'pseudo-Anonymity'. The access rights of different users cannot be distinguished, which cannot meet the user's two-way access control needs. However, most of the existing blockchain-based access control schemes are one-way access control, which cannot meet the needs of users for two-way access control in scenarios such as the Internet of Things and Supply Chains. Therefore, it is particularly important to design a two-way access control mechanism suitable for application in the blockchain. On this basis, this paper proposes a dual strategy attribute-based encryption (ABE) scheme for distributed outsourcing. This scheme combines two existing schemes, ciphertext-policy ABE and key-policy ABE, and proposes two access structures and a structure of attribute sets. The primary access structure and the secondary attributes are stored in the ciphertext, and the secondary access structure and the primary attributes are stored in the user's private key. Only when the primary attribute set satisfies the primary access structure and the secondary attribute set satisfies the secondary access structure can the user unlock the ciphertext. This scheme has no single authorization center;instead, blockchain nodes jointly participate in authorization. In addition, the proposed scheme outsources the encryption and decryption of the ciphertext to blockchain nodes to reduce the computing pressure on users and can adapt to the decentralized environment of the blockchain and provide users with two-way access control services. In agile Cyber-physical Production System (CPPS) engineering, multi-disciplinary teams work concurrently and iteratively on various CPPS engineering artifacts, based on engineering models and Product-Process-Resource (PPR) knowledge, to design and build a production system. However, in such settings it is difficult to keep track of (i) the effects of changes across engineering disciplines, and (ii) their implications on risks to engineering quality, represented in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). To tackle these challenges and systematically co-evolve FMEA and PPR models, requires propagating and validating changes across engineering and FMEA artifacts. To this end, we design and evaluate a Multi-view FMEA+PPR (MvFMEA+PPR) meta-model to represent relationships between FMEA elements and CPPS engineering assets and trace their change states and dependencies in the design and validation lifecycle. We evaluate the MvFMEA+PPR meta-model in a feasibility study on the quality of a screwing process from automotive production. The study results indicate the MvFMEA+PPR meta-model to be more effective than alternative traditional approaches. © 2022 IEEE.

Chiql is a novel Chinese relational database query language for Chinese users. It supports procedural query style in which users can specify a complex database request in multiple simple statements. This facility renders Chiql simple-to-use and easy-to-remember. However, direct execution of multi-statement Chiql queries (i.e. statement by statement) is often inefficient as potential index-based operations (e.g. join) are by-passed. Furthermore, it often incurs additional database operations, such as scan and projection. To improve this situation, the SMA (Statement Merging Algorithm) is proposed. The goal of SMA is to merge as many dependent statements within a Chiql query as possible to form a more efficient Chiql query. The ability in achieving improved efficiency without sacrificing the simplicity of the language is the major advantage of this algorithm.

Due to the rapid growth of social net services (SNSs), research into SNSs continuance usage has recently emerged as an important issue in information systems adaption. This study develops an integrated model based on the expectation-confirmation model (ECM), the technology acceptance model (TAM), and the theory of planned behavior (TPB), and apply them into the context of older adults' continuance intention toward SNSs. The hypothesized model is validated empirically using a sample collected from 250 older adults who had prior experience with SNSs and was tested against the proposed research model using structure equation modeling. Analysis results demonstrate that satisfaction has the most significant effect on older adults' continuance intention, followed by perceived usefulness, attitude, subject norm and perceived behavioral control. The results of these findings for SNSs practitioners are discussed at the end of this work. © 2014 IEEE.

The presence of emergent semantics in social annotation systems has been reported in numerous studies. Two important problems in this context are the induction of semantic relations among tags and the discovery of different senses of a given tag. While a number of approaches for discovering tag senses exist, little is known about which factors influence the discovery process. In this paper, we analyze the influence of user pragmatic factors. We divide taggers into different pragmatic distinctions. Based on these distinctions, we identify subsets of users whose annotations allow for a more precise and complete discovery of tag senses. Our results provide evidence for a link between tagging pragmatics and semantics and provide another argument for including pragmatic factors in semantic extraction methods. Our work is relevant for improving search, retrieval and browsing in social annotation systems, as well as for optimizing ontology learning algorithms based on tagging data. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Enforcing a practical Mandatory Access Control (MAC) in a commercial operating system to tackle malware problem is a grand challenge but also a promising approach. The firmest barriers to apply MAC to defeat malware programs are the incompatible and unusable problems in existing MAC systems. To address these issues, we start our work by analyzing the technical details of 2,600 malware samples one by one and performing experiments over two types of MAC enforced operating systems. Based on the preliminary studies, we design a novel MAC model incorporating intrusion detection and tracing in a commercial operating system, named Tracer, in order to disable malware on hosts while offering good compatibility to existing software and good usability to common users who are not system experts. The model conceptually consists of three actions: detecting, tracing and restricting suspected intruders. One novelty is that it leverages light-weight intrusion detection and tracing techniques to automate security label configuration that is widely acknowledged as a tough issue when applying a MAC system in practice. The other is that, rather than restricting information flow as a traditional MAC does, it traces intruders and restricts only their critical malware behaviors, where intruders represent processes and executables that are potential agents of a remote attacker. Our prototyping and experiments on Windows show that Tracer can effectively defeat all malware samples tested via blocking malware behaviors while not causing a significant compatibility problem. Feature selection has been widely used in various application areas such as machine learning, bioinformatics, and natural language processing. Common drawbacks of most of the current feature selection methods are the lack of information about the dynamic change of selected features with the class, and the selection of redundant and irrelevant features. In this paper, we develop a novel feature selection method called Normalized Dynamic Change of Selected Feature with Class (NDCSF), which consider the normalized dynamic information changes between the selected features and the classes by using conditional mutual information and entropy. Moreover, a normalized feature redundancy by using mutual information and entropy is introduced into NDCSF. The experimental results on several benchmark datasets verify that the NDCSF can significantly improve the other several feature selection methods. © 2022 IEEE.

On-chip communication architectures can have a great influence on the speed and area of System-on-Chip (SOC) designs. A new chip design paradigm called Network-on-Chip (NOC) offers a promising architectural choice for future SOC. Focusing on decreasing node degree, reducing links and shortening diameter, a new NOC, named Triple-based Hierarchical Interconnection Network (THIN), is presented in this paper. The topology of THIN is very simple and it has obviously hierarchical, symmetric and scalable characteristic. The network properties and zero-load latency were studied and compared with 2-D mesh and Hypercube. The results show THIN is superior to 2-D mesh and Hypercube to construct interconnection network for SOC, when the network size is not very large. A new tree-based multicast routing algorithm in THIN is proposed. Thorough analyses and experiments based on different multicast implementation schemes are conducted. The results do confirm the advantage of our scheme over unicast-based and path-based multicast schemes. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

In this paper we present our approach to the 2010 ImageClef PhotoAnnotation task. Based on the well-known bag-of-words approach we suggest two extensions. First, we analyzed the impact of category specific features and classifiers. In order to classify quality-related image categories we implemented a sharpness measure and use this as additional feature in the classification process. Second, we propose a post- classification step, which is based on the observation that many of the categories should be considered as being related to each other: Some categories exclude or allow for inference to others. We incorporate inference and exclusion rules by refining the classification results. The results we obtain show that both extensions can provide a classification performance increase when compared the the standard BoW approach.
