Connected automated vehicles (CAV), which incorporate vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication into their motion planning, are expected to provide a wide range of benefits for individual and overall traffic flow. A frequent constraint or required precondition is that compatible CAVs must already be available in traffic at high penetration rates. Achieving such penetration rates incrementally before providing ample benefits for users presents a chicken-and-egg problem that is common in connected driving development. Based on the example of a cooperative driving function for bottleneck traffic flows (e.g. at a roadblock), we illustrate how such an evolutionary, incremental introduction can be achieved under transparent assumptions and objectives. To this end, we analyze the challenge from the perspectives of automation technology, traffic flow, human factors and market, and present a principle that 1) accounts for individual requirements from each domain; 2) provides benefits for any penetration rate of compatible CAVs between 0 % and 100 % as well as upward-compatibility for expected future developments in traffic; 3) can strictly limit the negative effects of cooperation for any participant and 4) can be implemented with close-to-market technology. We discuss the technical implementation as well as the effect on traffic flow over a wide parameter spectrum for human and technical aspects.

A machine learning algorithm has been proposed to address the issues of low image resolution, long sampling times, and high costs in MRI. It processes under-sampled MRI K-space data, enabling the reconstruction of high-quality images while significantly reducing sampling time and costs. This paper utilizes a Unet fully convolutional neural network for feature extraction and fusion of K-space data, incorporating an attention module to highlight important image features and suppress irrelevant information. The total variation minimization algorithm is used for the preliminary reconstruction of under-sampled data. High-quality images are then input into a Unet network with a gated attention module for training, achieving high-quality reconstruction of under-sampled data. Experimental results prove that the proposed image reconstruction algorithm outperforms the conventional convolutional neural network Unet, significantly enhancing image reconstruction performance. It improves the PSNR metric by over 4dB and the SSIM metric by approximately 5% compared to the conventional convolutional neural network Unet.

This paper proposes a new method to determine the number of shorted turns for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). At first, the equivalent circuit model of PMSM under both normal condition and inter-turn short-circuit (ITSC) fault are presented. Then, the procedure to estimate the severity of ITSC in PMSM is introduced. In detailed, the stator winding of PMSM at standstill is excited by a low AC voltage, the corresponding current can be measured including its amplitude and phase, finally, the severity estimation indicator is established based on the electromagnetic parameters, including amplitude and phase of voltage and current, phase inductance and resistance. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by some simulations, which illustrates that the proposed method have good accuracy in the number of shorted turns detection in the range from the fault-free state to the full-winding fault state. The method proposed in this paper can be directly implemented without installing complex equipment and additional sensors on the motor, and it has utility value in the maintenance of PMSM. © 2022 IEEE.

The Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Conductor (OPPC) cable is a special type of power optical cable that combines overhead conductor and communication capabilities. It has advantages such as strong wind resistance, good corrosion resistance, high bandwidth transmission, low loss transmission, and high reliability. However, as the OPPC cable operates for a long time power transmission, its long-term working temperature has a significant impact on transmission performance and lifespan. Therefore, monitoring the temperature of the OPPC cable and internal fibers can improve the transmission capacity of the line, ensure good thermal stability, and provide important references for fault warning and maintenance. This study aims to explore the temperature characteristics of the OPPC cable through actual monitoring and analysis, providing guidance and decision-making basis for practical applications.

In this paper, a data-driven security detection approach is proposed in a simple manner. The detector is designed to deal with false data injection attacks suffered by industrial cyber-physical systems with unknown model information. First, the attacks are modeled from the perspective of the generalized plant mismatch, rather than the operating data being tampered. Second, some subsystems are selected to reduce the design complexity of the detector, and based on them, an output estimator with iterative form is presented in a theoretical way. Then, a security detector is constructed based on the proposed estimator and its cost function. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed approach is verified by simulations of a Western States Coordinated Council 9-bus power system.

In order to improve the uniform light ability of optical integrator, a design method of variable diameter and off-axis optical integrator was proposed. Firstly, based on the theory of scalar diffraction, the factors affecting the ability of optical integrator to homogenize light were analyzed, and the structure of variable diameter and off-axis optical integrator was designed;Then, the relationship between the aperture and the arrangement of sub-eye lenses is explored by combining semi-definite programming theory and Lagrange-Helmholtz invariant. Finally, the optimal off-axis quantity of different ring strap eye lenses is determined from the perspective of geometric optics by using the aberration theory and following the principle of edge light, so as to achieve the improvement of the optical integrator's uniform light ability. The simulation results show that: On the effective irradiation surface ф26mm of the variable diameter off-axial integrator the irradiation non-uniformity is 2.0%, which decreases by 60% compared with the traditional integrator and reduces the system energy by 45%, which meets the energy utilization requirement of the optical integrator in the solar simulator. The homogenizing ability of optical integrator of solar simulator is improved on the premise that irradiation is not greatly affected and aspheric surface is not introduced. © 2023, The Authors. This paper presents a comparative study between the commonly used switches (IGBT, MOSFET, SiC and GaN) for power inverters of electric vehicles. A 400 V, three-phase inverter system simulation test is implemented using LTspice and the conducted emissions are compared to variant CISPR standards and switching frequencies in order to show the possible interferences with the other car equipment.

Karma alloy thin film strain gauges were fabricated on alumina substrates by magnetron sputtering. The electrical properties of strain gauges annealed at different temperatures were then tested. The surface morphology and phase structure of the Karma alloy thin films were analyzed using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The effect of the annealing temperature on the performance of the Karma alloy thin film strain gauge was also investigated. As the annealing temperature increased, it was found that the resistivity of the thin films decreased, whereas the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of the thin films increased. A Karma alloy thin film strain gauge was annealed at 200 °C, thereby obtaining a gauge factor of 1.7 and a corresponding TCR of 64.8 × 10−6 K−1. The prepared Karma alloy thin film strain gauge had a lower TCR than other strain gauges at room temperature. This result can provide a reference for the preparation and application of Karma alloy thin film strain gauges in specific scenarios.

Most buildings in modern cities contain many glass facades to show the modern flavor of architectural design and street view, gradually increase the intensity of the lighting, which is also the first choice for most green and energy-saving buildings. However, the strong reflectivity of the glass facade allows street view or sky to be reflected on the surface of the building, while the transparency allows the visualization of internal objects and interferes with the monitoring of the glass building itself. Such features increase the difficulty of urban building monitoring. In this paper, a multi-layer-separation algorithm based on semantic segmentation method is proposed to realize non-contact monitoring of glass buildings, which separate the reflection and the real object from the monitoring images. © 2020 IEEE.

Induction heating is widely used in industrial furnaces because of its rapid response time and high energy efficiency. To design and optimize these furnaces, computer-aided simulations are essential. This study aims to develop an accurate temperature field model for a square cross-section steel billet in an induction furnace by leveraging various parameters in COMSOL Multiphysics software. The simulation analysis incorporated temperature dynamics, considering skin depth, temperaturedependent, and constant parameters of the steel billet. The datadriven model was converted into a state-space representation utilizing MATLAB's System Identification Toolbox. This conversion facilitated the design of a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) with integral gain and pole placement. Further, these controllers' performance was analyzed, and controllers were successfully implemented to regulate the temperature field of the billet from initial temperature to reference temperature, utilizing the distributed parameter system control circuit.
