In the field of machine vision, algorithms for estimating optical flow in sequential images have been proposed for many years. However, due to the advancements in image resolution and video frame rates of sensor, the optical flow algorithm running on a CPU or a GPU may struggle to meet real-time processing and low power consumption requirements. This paper presents an FPGA-based accelerated method for high-speed LK optical flow estimation. We implemented a serial input and multi-window output buffer structure to enhance the algorithm's parallel processing capability and improve processing speed. Additionally, we designed a multi-clock convolution structure to reduce resource consumption. Tested on the Middlebury dataset, the FPGA-based LK optical flow algorithm developed in this paper can achieve a processing speed of 330 frames per second for image sequences with a resolution of 640x480. It also maintains a relatively high level of accuracy and has low power consumption. © 2024 SPIE.

Computer-aided diagnosis has emerged as a crucial trend in modern medicine. Recently, CT-based automatic detection algorithms for lung infectious diseases suffer from issues of low accuracy and complex architecture. In this paper, three MoB-NetV2 models (MoB-NetV2-SNN, MoB-NetV2-ELM, and MoB-NetV2-RVFL) for the detection of COVID-19 in CTs are proposed. the MoB-NetV2 model is proposed by inserting batch normalization layers between bottlenecks in MobileNetV2 and substituting the fully connected layer with the Net-1 model (SNN, ELM, RVFL), i.e. MoB-NetV2-SNN, MoB-NetV2-ELM, and MoB-NetV2-RVFL. After comparison, it is found that the proposed MoB-NetV2-RVFL achieves an average accuracy of 93.42% on a private dataset comprising of 2392 images, while the precision is reached at 97.33%. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that our MoB-NetV2-RVFL outperforms other existing algorithms in the literature. High classification accuracy and precision and low computing amount are achieved, thereby enhancing the potential application of the model in the field of medical image-aided diagnosis of COVID-19 virus. © The Institution of engineering & technology 2024.

Considering that serious hand function damage will greatly affect the daily life of patients, its recovery mainly depends on the regular inspection and manual training of medical staff, and medical monitoring based on bioelectric signals can largely replace manual re-examination as autonomous rehabilitation technology. So, for the rationality of feature selection and the diversity of classifier design in the gesture recognition process based on electromyography (EMG) signals, this paper proposes a hand medical monitoring system based on feature selection method of feature subset average recognition rate and optimal machine learning algorithm selection, which mainly depends on the prediction of hand movement. At the same time, since most experiments are conducted in different non-public proprietary databases, the comparison between various gesture recognition methods can only be analyzed to a certain extent. Therefore, this paper uses the DB1 dataset in the large publicly available NinaPro database and combines with presently well-known 11 time-domain (TD) features and 5 frequency domain (FD) features, then uses the support vector machine (SVM) classifier to comparative analysis total 136 feature combinations under various feature numbers. Under the premise of ensuring the overall recognition rate of electromyography gesture, this method will be able to reduce the number of features in feature set, according to the change of the average remove redundant features, and construct an optimal reduced EMG feature set. Finally, through the four common hand motion classifiers based on machine learning: SVM, back propagation neural network, linear discriminant analysis, and K-nearest neighbor, this paper tests and verifies the separability of the optimal reduced EMG feature set, and based on this, selects the optimal hand motion classifier to build the optimal hand motion recognition system, improve the hand medical monitoring system, and provide technical reference for the c

Background: Today, living standards and medical technology are improving, and the aging global population is increasing. However, more and more older adults are suffering from knee diseases. This will seriously affect patients’ daily life and their mental state. In many studies, repeti-tive physical exercises and motor activities in real-world environments have been shown to help im-prove knee muscle strength and restore damaged nerves. Therefore, physical knee therapy is very nec-essary. The use of rehabilitation training devices for movement therapy has shown great potential. Objective: This study aimed at exploring the structural features, functions, and development status of the knee rehabilitation training device. Methods: This review explores the structure and function of various current knee rehabilitation devices based on structural and kinematic properties of the knee joint in relation to requirements of physical knee rehabilitation. This paper aims to present a systematic guideline and outline a refer-ence for future designers of rehabilitation devices. Results: By analyzing the structure and movement of the knee joint and combining the strategies of physical knee rehabilitation, movement requirements during knee rehabilitation training are con-cluded. According to the structure, drive form, transmission mode, and rehabilitation environment of knee rehabilitation devices, the devices are classified and compared;some typical features are summarized;some current problems are analyzed, and the future trends and development directions of rehabilitation devices are discussed. Conclusion: Current rehabilitation equipment has a variety of structures and functions, but a good balance between weight and volume is hardly maintained. The protection of the body needs to be further improved. Many knee rehabilitation devices are only concepts, not physical objects, and lack clinical trial data. With the popularity of inverter-based renewable energy, the stability of low inertia and natural intermittent power generation microgrid has become an important issue, and this paper adopts a hybrid energy storage system of supercapacitors and batteries. The proposed microgrid consists of photovoltaic, tidal power unit, supercapacitor, storage battery and load. The system uses virtual synchronous generator (VSG) technology to simulate the performance of traditional synchronous generator (SG). Because of the fixed moment of inertia and damping coefficient of traditional synchronous generator, the dynamic adjustment ability of grid-connected system is not good. By discussing the mathematical model of the converter, an adaptive inertia control strategy is proposed. This strategy can adjust the inertia in real time when VSG angular velocity deviation is large, optimize the moment of inertia of VSG, and reduce the overshoot of the system. Finally, the whole system is modeled and simulated by MATLABTM platform. The simulation results show that the dynamic response of the adaptive VSG control strategy is good, which demonstrates the effectiveness and superiority of the improved strategy. © 2023 IEEE.

A machine learning algorithm has been proposed to address the issues of low image resolution, long sampling times, and high costs in MRI. It processes under-sampled MRI K-space data, enabling the reconstruction of high-quality images while significantly reducing sampling time and costs. This paper utilizes a Unet fully convolutional neural network for feature extraction and fusion of K-space data, incorporating an attention module to highlight important image features and suppress irrelevant information. The total variation minimization algorithm is used for the preliminary reconstruction of under-sampled data. High-quality images are then input into a Unet network with a gated attention module for training, achieving high-quality reconstruction of under-sampled data. Experimental results prove that the proposed image reconstruction algorithm outperforms the conventional convolutional neural network Unet, significantly enhancing image reconstruction performance. It improves the PSNR metric by over 4dB and the SSIM metric by approximately 5% compared to the conventional convolutional neural network Unet. © 2024 IEEE.

Throughput-oriented associated transaction assignment in sharding blockchains for IoT social data storage

Blockchain is a viable solution to provide data integrity for the enormous volume of 5G IoT social data, while we need to break through the throughput bottleneck of blockchain. Sharding is a promising technology to solve the problem of low throughput in blockchains. However, cross-shard communication hinders the effective improvement of blockchain throughput. Therefore, it is critical to reasonably allocate transactions to different shards to improve blockchain throughput. Existing research on blockchain sharding mainly focuses on shards formation, configuration, and consensus, while ignoring the negative impact of cross-shard communication on blockchain throughput. Aiming to maximize the throughput of transaction processing, we study how to allocate blockchain transactions to shards in this paper. We propose an Associated Transaction assignment algorithm based on Closest Fit (ATCF). ATCF classifies associated transactions into transaction groups which are then assigned to different shards in the non-ascending order of transaction group sizes periodically. Within each epoch, ATCF tries to select a shard that can handle all the transactions for each transaction group. If there are multiple such shards, ATCF selects the shard with the remaining processing capacity closest to the number of transactions in the transaction group. When no such shard exists, ATCF chooses the shard with the largest remaining processing capacity for the transaction group. The transaction groups that cannot be completely processed within the current epoch will be allocated in the subsequent epochs. We prove that ATCF is a 2-approximation algorithm for the associated transaction assignment problem. Simulation results show that ATCF can effectively improve the blockchain throughput and reduce the number of cross-shard transactions.

Background: After a smooth development of life expectancy per capita and fertility in the nineteenth century, the global population increased in size. Along with the demographic shift in the late nineteenth century, the phenomenon of population aging began to appear in developed countries. A survey from UN reports that by 2050, one in six people worldwide will be over 65 years old (16%), compared to 11 (9%) in 2019. According to another survey, 55% of people over the age of 60 suffer from joint diseases, and the number of people suffering from stroke, arthritis and other knee diseases will also increase accordingly. Objective: An overview of the classification and characteristics of today's knee rehabilitation devices and future developments. Methods: This review discusses the existing knee rehabilitation devices, including various prod-ucts on the market, patents and some conceptual devices, in the context of the structural characteristics of the knee joint and the rehabilitation requirements of different knee conditions or after knee arthroplasty, and systematically introduces their structural features, differences and the rehabilitation effects achieved. Results: A comparative analysis of three types of passive knee rehabilitation devices according to their use was conducted to summarize the typical characteristics. The problems that exist in today's rehabilitation devices are also analyzed, and their development trends are looked forward to. Conclusion: Knee rehabilitation equipment has a high degree of structural richness, but it does not achieve a good balance of convenience, comfort and functionality, and there should be some room for improvement in the materials, volume of the power source and transmission form of the power system. There will be a good development in the future of knee joint recovery. © 2022 Bentham Science Publishers.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), an emerging computing paradigm, shifts computing and storage capabilities from the cloud to the network edge, aiming to meet the delay requirements of emerging applications and save backhaul network bandwidth. However, compared to cloud servers, MEC servers have limited computing and storage capabilities, which cannot meet the massive offloading demands of users during high-load periods. In this context, this paper proposes a multi-ENs collaborative task processing model. The model aims to formulate optimal offloading decisions and allocate computing resources for tasks to minimize system delay and cost. To solve this problem, we propose an online algorithm based on Lyapunov optimization called OKMTA, which can work online without the need for predicting future information. Specifically, the problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem and decomposed into two subproblems for solution. By using the Lagrange multiplier method to solve the computing resource allocation problem of tasks, and by using matching theory to solve the offloading decision problem of tasks. The simulation results show that our algorithm can achieve near-optimal delay performance while satisfying the long-term system average cost constraint. © ICST institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering 2024.
