Adoption of cognitive computing decision support system in the assessment of health-care policymaking

Purpose: Despite technological advancements to enhance patient health, the risks of not discovering the correct interactions and trends in digital health are high. Hence, a careful policy is required for health coverage tailored to needs and capacity. Therefore, this study aims to explore the adoption of a cognitive computing decision support system (CCDSS) in the assessment of health-care policymaking and validates it by extending the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology model. Design/methodology/approach: A survey was conducted to collect data from different stakeholders, referred to as the 4Ps, namely, patients, providers, payors and policymakers. Structural equation modelling and one-way ANOVA were used to analyse the data. Findings: The result reveals that the behavioural insight of policymakers towards the assessment of health-care policymaking is based on automatic and reflective systems. Investments in CCDSS for policymaking assessment have the potential to produce rational outcomes. CCDSS, built with quality procedures, can validate whether breastfeeding-supporting policies are mother-friendly. Research limitations/implications: Health-care policies are used by lawmakers to safeguard and improve public health, but it has always been a challenge. With the adoption of CCDSS, the overall goal of health-care policymaking can achieve better quality standards and improve the design of policymaking. Originality/value: This study drew attention to how CCDSS as a technology enabler can drive health-care policymaking assessment for each stage and how the technology enabler can help the 4Ps of health-care gain insight into the benefits and potential value of CCDSS by demonstrating the breastfeeding supporting policy. © 2023, Emerald Publishing Limited.

Enhancing stencil printing in PCB production using deep learning based approach for residue classification and optimization

Surface-mount technology (SMT) is the technology used in the production of printed circuit boards (PCB) plays a vital role in PCB manufacturing for applications ranging from communication devices to medical systems. A significant challenge in the stencil printing process, a critical step in PCB production, is solder paste buildup in stencil apertures, contributing to 57%–71% of soldering defects. To address this issue, this study presents a convolutional neural network (CNN)-based framework for categorizing solder paste residue levels into three classes: low, moderate, and high. The methodology involves cropping and pre-processing images of stencil apertures, which are then fed into the CNN model for classification. To enhance model robustness and prevent overfitting, data augmentation techniques, including aperture rotation, are applied, effectively increasing the dataset size and promoting generalization. The model achieves a classification accuracy of 87% during testing, with precision and recall values provided for each residue class. This approach aims to optimize the stencil printing process by enabling accurate residue categorization and facilitating targeted cleaning cycles, ultimately reducing soldering defects and improving PCB production efficiency. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) are essential for safeguarding IoT networks against various attacks. Our previously developed ensemble-based IDS model, which combines stacked Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks with ANOVA feature selection, achieved a remarkable accuracy of 97.46% and an overfitting value of 0.22% in classifying network attacks. However, deploying this powerful model on resource-constrained devices like Raspberry Pi poses challenges due to limited computational resources. In this paper, we tackle these challenges by converting the original model to TensorFlow Lite (TFLite) and applying quantization techniques to optimize the model size for deployment on a Raspberry Pi 3b+. Our approach significantly reduces the model size by 90.9% while maintaining an impressive accuracy of 96.96%, only a 0.5% reduction from the original model. The optimized model demonstrates efficient performance on the Raspberry Pi, with a loading time of 100.2ms and an inference time of 1.2ms. © 2024 IEEE.

A new parallel file system and multi-core processor-based dynamic multimedia encryption method is presented in this study. Multimedia encryption efficiency and security were the main goals, addressing massive data sets and high-speed processing. We created a dynamic encryption algorithm for multimedia content, supported by a strong parallel file system and tuned for multi-core processing. Multiple tests showed significant improvements in encryption and decryption times, retaining short durations for real-time applications. After encryption, the system maintained multimedia content quality and accuracy with data integrity rates nearing 100%. Balanced CPU utilization showed efficient resource use and processor load management. The system's excellent throughput efficiency showed its capacity to process enormous amounts of data. These results indicate that parallel file systems and multi-core CPUs may solve multimedia encryption problems. Adaptable and scalable, the system supports many multimedia formats and sizes. This paper proposes a multimedia encryption system that improves performance data security and integrity, paving the way for safe multimedia processing advances. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the growing role of steganography in cybersecurity and presents a hybrid implementation called Multi-level Discrete Cosine Convolution (MDCC) that applies a Multi-level Discrete Cosine Transform (MDCT) and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). Steganography provides some advantages compared to cryptography, mainly its invisibility, but there are weaknesses in information capacity and resistance to attacks in traditional techniques. The paper suggests solving these difficulties with a new steganography method using deep learning. The proposed MDCC method provides an opportunity to encrypt large amounts of data in realistic images that are beyond human visual perception. The system is trained on the ImageNet dataset by using a loss function to balance the quality of the cover image and the information it conceals within it. The MDCC model proposed yields accurate results for all metrics since PSNR, SSIM, and bits per pixel come out to be 80.13dB, 0.9918, and 12.5 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

Color perception has long remained an in-triguing topic spanning vision and cognitive science, signal processing, and computer graphics. People are often classified as either 'color-normal' or 'color-blind', and it is widely accepted there are a few types of colorblindness that are the most prevalent. At the same time, empirical evidence, such as in optometry and vision science, has repeatedly suggested that categories for colorblindness only serve as approximations to real manifestations of it. With the motivation of better understanding individual-level color perception, we propose a model for color vision that unifies existing theories for color-normal and color-blind populations. This model posits a certain type of low-dimensional structure in color space according to which any given person distinguishes colors. We design an algorithm to learn this low-dimensional structure from user queries, and prove statistical guarantees on its per-formance. To collect user data, we adapt a user interface design, termed 'perceptual adjustment queries' (PAQs), to assess color perception. This user interface efficiently infers a user's color distinguishability profile from a few cognitively lightweight responses. A user study shows that our method captures individual-level differences in both color-normal and color-blind populations. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the performance trade-offs between accuracy and inference time in real-time object detection models, particularly for detecting landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). Using subsets from the COCO validation dataset, the models' performance is evaluated across various input resolutions. Object detection has seen substantial advancements over the past few decades, propelled by deep learning and enhanced computational resources. However, the balance between accuracy and inference time differs among models and configurations, requiring detailed evaluation to identify the optimal solution for specific applications like landmine and UXO detection. This balance is critical for autonomous robotic systems, where swift and accurate decision-making is imperative. ©2024 IEEE.

UN studies show Iraq is the fifth country most prone to desertification. The Nineveh Water Directorate, which distributes water to the populace, faces several challenges. However, the drying up of the Tigris River, which flows through the governorate of Nineveh, is the biggest. All of this harmed the pumping and processing of water in the clean water distribution networks that supply the residents of Mosul city. The technology under consideration keeps track of how much pure water is pumped by the water booster stations directly linked to the water supply system for residential areas. Connecting the measuring instruments to the Arduino UNO, GSM SIM900, and current-to-volt converter will allow the reading of measuring values from the devices. A Data SIM card was used, and a private network was devoted to the Nineveh Water Directorate using an access point name (APN) for data transfer. The communication network uses SIM cards fitted with Asiacell company for Cellular Communications. Data is transferred and stored on a computer using the Softwareserial Arduino library. All stations in the city will eventually be connected to this system since the results of the planned system's monitoring of the quantity of water pushed are regarded as positive and encouraging. So that monitoring in these stations will be automated, contemporary, and free from the outdated regular practices that interfere with the equitable water distribution to the populace. © 2023 IEEE.

In the last three years, a new partner has emerged for teachers and educators in the field of education. The mushrooming of applications based on large language models has greatly shaped the educational development fields of the present era. The use of various AI applications has become commonplace among students and teachers alike. Many questions are being raised by researchers in this field. What does the rapid development of AI applications bring to the field of pedagogy? Should the products of such applications be compared with human performance? The form presented in this thesis seeks to answer similar questions. What is the impact of frequent use of these applications on the literacy level of individuals? In which areas do students tend to use these applications? The results indicate that half of the students believe their literacy levels will decrease with the mass emergence of AI applications, while 36% feel it will not change. However, 88 % of students have already dealt with AI-based applications, with 64 % using them several times or more, suggesting a high level of integration into their educational processes. © 2024 IEEE.
