The evolution of healthcare systems worldwide necessitates continual improvement in hospital management practices, particularly pharmaceutical management. This paper explores transforming traditional pharmaceutical management systems in large and medium-sized hospitals in Thailand into smart systems using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) as a guiding tool. Traditional systems often face challenges such as inefficiencies and medication errors. VSM, rooted in lean management principles, offers a structured approach to visualize and optimize processes. Additionally, smart technologies like automated inventory systems and electronic health records enhance pharmaceutical management effectiveness. Through a comprehensive research methodology encompassing case studies, data collection, and VSM analysis, this study identifies inefficiencies and proposes evidence-based strategies for improvement. Results from a case study highlight the benefits of VSM implementation in enhancing pharmacy operations, emphasizing improved patient care and operational efficiency. The implementation of a smart medication dispensing system shows promising results in reducing workload and accommodating increased patient arrivals. Continued evaluation and refinement are crucial for maximizing benefits and addressing emerging challenges effectively. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Localization problems are occurred in various applications, indoor and outdoor. The location data of objects is one of the primary information that can be further used in many applications, especially in logistic management in hospitals. Beacon technology based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is one of the technologies used for indoor localization. With multiple BLE locators used as reference points, the receiver can sense the signal with various receive signal strength indicators (RSSI). The distance between each locator and the receiver can be estimated, so that the receiver can be located. However, a number of factors affect the accuracy of localization, e.g., poses of the receiver and the quantity of locator. In an aging society, dementia is a notable issue that occurs as individuals grow older, impacting cognitive ability and emotional well-being. This has led to the development of cognitive assessment tools to facilitate early detection of cognitive impairment. Limited utilization of computerized tests across different countries is due to the mismatch of existing computerized tests between the educational and cultural backgrounds of the elderly;this study sought to address this issue by developing the Integrated Cognitive Test (ICT). ICT is designed as a computerized tool for assessing the risk of cognitive impairment in Thai older adults with an easy-to-use interface. Thirty-six elderly participants with diverse education levels and without prior cognitive impairment diagnoses participated in the study. They completed MoCA, MMSE, and ICT in a single-day experiment. The scores, reaction time, and overall completion time were recorded for analysis. Falls are one of the most dangerous problems for the elderly. A reliable fall detection system can aid in reducing the harmful repercussions of an unintentional fall. The focus of this paper is on a dataset that includes signals from portable devices. We propose a simple feature selection approach to reduce the number of effective input attributes based on a voting strategy. The dataset is classified into three categories, i.e., pre-fall, fall and post-fall using various machine learning approaches. The computational time is significantly reduced for most of the classification algorithms, and the relative reduction reaches to 66.67% with decision tree algorithm. Classification accuracy can reach as high as 95.17% when using neural network, while the relative reductions on the classification accuracy due to the feature selection do not exceed 1.50%. © 2022 IEEE.

For acute stroke patients, time to recognize the stroke symptom onset is crucial for the lifesaving treatment. The automatic detection of stroke signs has been increasingly developed for practical use. The better timely classification results could allow better detection of the symptoms and avoid morbidity and mortality. In this study, we proposed using cosine similarity between the left and right sides of the face as a part of features for classifying the stroke elderly patients from healthy elderly participants. We employed our method on images from the Toronto NeuroFace dataset. The results showed high classification accuracy (the average accuracy of 97.8998% from 6 classification methods). These results indicate that the cosine similarity features can be useful to detect facial asymmetry and pose very promising potential for elderly stroke detection. © 2022 IEEE.

Ground segmentation is critical for a mobile robot to successfully accomplish its tasks in challenging environments. In this paper, we propose a self-supervised radar-vision classification system that allows an autonomous vehicle, operating in natural terrains, to automatically construct online a visual model of the ground and perform accurate ground segmentation. The system features two main phases: the training phase and the classification phase. The training stage relies on radar measurements to drive the selection of ground patches in the camera images, and learn online the visual appearance of the ground. In the classification stage, the visual model of the ground can be used to perform high level tasks such as image segmentation and terrain classification, as well as to solve radar ambiguities. The proposed method leads to the following main advantages: (a) a self-supervised training of the visual classifier, where the radar allows the vehicle to automatically acquire a set of ground samples, eliminating the need for time-consuming manual labeling; (b) the ground model can be continuously updated during the operation of the vehicle, thus making it feasible the use of the system in long range and long duration navigation applications. This paper details the proposed system and presents the results of experimental tests conducted in the field by using an unmanned vehicle.

The President's Vision for Space Exploration, laid out in 2004, relies heavily upon robotic exploration of the lunar surface in early phases of the program. Prior to the arrival of astronauts on the lunar surface, these robots will be required to be controlled across space and time, posing a considerable challenge for traditional telepresence techniques. Because time delays will be measured in seconds, not minutes as is the case for Mars Exploration, uploading the plan for a day seems excessive. An approach for controlling humanoids under intermediate time delay is presented. This approach uses software running within a ground control cockpit to predict an immersed robot supervisor's motions which the remote humanoid autonomously executes. Initial results are presented

We consider distributed online convex optimization problems, where the distributed system consists of various computing units connected through a time-varying communication graph. In each time step, each computing unit selects a constrained vector, experiences a loss equal to an arbitrary convex function evaluated at this vector, and may communicate to its neighbors in the graph. The objective is to minimize the system-wide loss accumulated over time. We propose a decentralized algorithm with regret and cumulative constraint violation in O(Tmax{c,1-c}) and O(T1-c/2), respectively, for any c ∈ (0, 1), where T is the time horizon. When the loss functions are strongly convex, we establish improved regret and constraint violation upper bounds in O(log(T)) and O(√T log(T)). These regret scalings match those obtained by state-of-the-art algorithms and fundamental limits in the corresponding centralized online optimization problem (for both convex and strongly convex loss functions). In the case of bandit feedback, the proposed algorithms achieve a regret and constraint violation in O(Tmax{c,1-c/3}) and O(T1-c/2) for any c ∈ (0, 1). We numerically illustrate the performance of our algorithms for the particular case of distributed online regularized linear regression problems. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.
