Dual-view display based on spatial psychovisual modulation (SPVM) aims to present two different views on a single screen. Users with special glasses see a personal view. Users without special glasses see a shared view which can be completely irrelevant to the personal view. This dual-view display technology can be used for information security, QR hiding, education, etc. In this paper, we propose an improved algorithm called pseudo-inv algorithm, using the pseudo-inverse method to solve the optimization problem. Moreover, a new Gaussian integration window and a new method to adjust the luminance range, are implemented for a better personal view. The experiments prove that the new algorithm results in a better image quality of both the shared view and the personal view. The time cost of the new algorithm is much less than that of the previous algorithms.

image quality assessment (IQA) is very important for both end-users and service providers since a high-quality image can significantly improve the user’s quality of experience (QoE) and also benefit lots of computer vision algorithms. Most existing blind image quality assessment (BIQA) models were developed for synthetically distorted images, however, they perform poorly on in-the-wild images, which are widely existed in various practical applications. In this paper, we propose a novel BIQA model for in-the-wild images by addressing two critical problems in this field: how to learn better quality-aware feature representation, and how to solve the problem of insufficient training samples in terms of their content and distortion diversity. Considering that perceptual visual quality is affected by both low-level visual features (e.g. distortions) and high-level semantic information (e.g. content), we first propose a staircase structure to hierarchically integrate the features from intermediate layers into the final feature representation, which enables the model to make full use of visual information from low-level to high-level. Then an iterative mixed database training (IMDT) strategy is proposed to train the BIQA model on multiple databases simultaneously, so the model can benefit from the increase in both training samples and image content and distortion diversity and can learn a more general feature representation. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms other state-of-the-art BIQA models on six in-the-wild IQA databases by a large margin. Moreover, the proposed model shows an excellent performance in the cross-database evaluation experiments, which further demonstrates that the learned feature representation is robust to images with diverse distortions and content. Massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) enables ultra-high throughput and low latency for tile-based adaptive virtual reality (VR) 360◦ video transmission in wireless network. In this paper, we consider a massive MIMO system where multiple users in a single-cell theater watch an identical VR 360◦ video. Based on tile prediction, base station (BS) deliveries the tiles in predicted field of view (FoV) to users. By introducing practical supplementary transmission for missing tiles and unacceptable VR sickness, we propose the first stable transmission scheme for VR video. we formulate an integer non-linear programming (INLP) problem to maximize users' average quality of experience (QoE) score. Moreover, we derive the achievable spectral efficiency (SE) expression of predictive tile groups and the approximately achievable SE expression of missing tile groups, respectively. Analytically, the overall throughput is related to the number of tile groups and the length of pilot sequences. By exploiting the relationship between the structure of viewport tiles and SE expression, we propose a multi-lattice multi-stream grouping method aimed at improving the overall throughput for VR video transmission. Moreover, we analyze the relationship between QoE objective and number of predictive tile. We transform the original INLP problem into an integer linear programming problem by setting the predictive tiles groups as some constants. With variable relaxation and recovery, we obtain the optimal average QoE. Extensive simulation results validate that the proposed algorithm effectively improves QoE. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Smartphone is the superstar product in digital device market and the quality of smartphone camera photos (SCPs) is becoming one of the dominant considerations when consumers purchase smartphones. How to evaluate the quality of smartphone cameras and the taken photos is urgent issue to be solved. To bridge the gap between academic research accomplishment and industrial needs, in this paper, we establish a new Smartphone Camera Photo Quality Database (SCPQD2020) including 1800 images with 120 scenes taken by 15 smartphones. Exposure, color, noise and texture which are four dominant factors influencing the quality of SCP are evaluated in the subjective study, respectively. Ten popular no-reference (NR) image quality assessment (IQA) algorithms are tested and analyzed on our database. Experimental results demonstrate that the current objective models are not suitable for SCPs, and quality metrics having high correlation with human visual perception are highly needed.

The COVID-19 epidemic was listed as a public health emergency of international concern by the WHO on January 30, 2020. To curb the secondary spread of the epidemic, many public places were equipped with thermal imagers to check the body temperature. However, the COVID-19 pneumonia has concealed symptoms: the first symptom may not be fever, and can be shortness of breath. During epidemic prevention, many people tend to wear masks. Therefore, in this demo paper, we proposed a portable non-contact healthy screening system for people wearing masks, which can simultaneously obtain body temperature and respiration state. This system consists of three modules viz. thermal image collection module, health indicator calculation module and health assessment module. In this system, the thermal video of human faces is first captured through a portable thermal imaging camera. Then, body temperature and respiration state are extracted from the video and are imported into the following health assessment module. Finally, the screening result can be obtained. The results of preliminary experiments show that this syetem can give an accurate screening result within 15 seconds. The pixel variation signal extracted from the nasal region of RGB-thermal images can be used to achieve breathing rate (BR) measurement. However, this method fails when the nasal region is not detected in complicated motion scenarios. In this paper, we develop an RGB-thermal imaging system collaborated with marker sticker to achieve unobtrusive and accurate BR measurement. Pixel variation signal of Regions of interest (ROI) is extracted from the thermal video and chest movement signal is extracted from the RGB video with the assistance of marker stickers. Subsequently, a custom-made time-domain signal processing approach is developed for determining BR. We further propose a method of splicing computation to measure the BR after separate processing of signal segments. We construct an RGB-thermal video dataset with different head and body movements to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. After linear regression analysis, the determination coefficient (R~2) of 0.905 has been observed for the estimated and reference BRs, indicating the feasibility of our proposed method in complex motion scenarios.

Millimeter-wave(MMW) radar sensing is one of the most promising technologies to provide safe navigation for autonomous vehicles due to its expected high-resolution imaging capability However, driverless cars have higher request for different environment and light conditions. Therefore, millimetre-wave imaging is of paramount importance for complex load scenario. In this paper, we have built models of pavement pits and bulges and analysed their with differences ways of antennas. A comparison of the imaging performance of experimental systems operating at a MMW radar and a Lidar is presented with the analysis of features for initial image interpretation Experimental images of the complex road surface are made by a 94GHz frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar technique with 3mm wavelength. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
