The work presented in this paper mainly focuses on designing a monolithic current-mode boost DC-DC converter with integrated 22V DMOS FET power switch and control circuits. The boost converter operating at fixed frequency of 1.6MHz has been fabricated with a 1.5μm Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) process. The chip with features of wide input voltage range (2.7V to 14V), high efficiency over large load range (1mA to 500mA), low shutdown current, fast transient response and low power, was designed for mobile power management applications. Besides issues such as technology choice, power switch optimization and ramp compensation, the paper also copes with the monolithic switching noise in switching power IC circuits.

In recent years, iris recognition has become a pro-active topic in both research and practical applications. In general, a typical iris recognition system includes iris preprocessing, feature extraction, and recognition. In this paper, an efficient iris recognition system is illustrated. The major procedure includes three steps: 1) the geometrical method is used to localize the pupil;2) in order to reduce computational cost, the outer (or limbus) boundary is localized using the shrunk image with the Hough transform and modified Canny edge detector;3) Log-Gabor filter is adopted to capture local and global characteristics of the iris. The phase of the filtered iris is recorded as features. The proposed method is implemented and tested on two iris database sets, i. e CASIA and SJTU-IDB, with different contrast quality. The experimental results show that the performance of the proposed method is encouraging.

A statistical algorithm for the reconstruction from time sequence echocardiographic images is proposed in this paper. The ability to jointly restore the images and reconstruct the 3D images without blurring the boundary is the main innovation of this algorithm. First, a Bayesian model based on MAP-MRF is used to reconstruct 3D volume, and extended to deal with the images acquired by rotation scanning method. Then, the spatiotemporal nature of ultrasound images is taken into account for the parameter of energy function, which makes this statistical model anisotropic. Hence not only can this method reconstruct 3D ultrasound images, but also remove the speckle noise anisotropically. Finally, we illustrate the experiments of our method on the synthetic and medical images and compare it with the isotropic reconstruction method.

By introducing relative velocities of arbitrary number of cars ahead into the full velocity difference models (FVDM), we present a forward looking relative velocity model (FLRVM) of cooperative driving control system. To our knowledge, the model is an improvement over the similar extension in the forward looking optimal velocity models (FLOVM), because it is more reasonable and realistic in implement of incorporating intelligent transportation system in traffic. Then the stability criterion is investigated by the linear stability analysis with finding that new consideration theoretically lead to the improvement of the stability of traffic flow, and the validity of our theoretical analysis is confirmed by direct simulations. In addition, nonlinear analysis of the model shows that the three waves: triangular shock wave, soliton wave and kink-antikink wave appear respectively in stable, metastable and unstable regions. These correspond to the solutions of the Burgers equation, Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation and modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation.

Precise pupil features detection is an important factor for face recognition. This paper presents a robust and accurate algorithm to precisely estimate pupil features: pupil center and pupil radius. First, a pupil parameters estimation step is taken and a weight ring mask is created. Then, a weighted Hough transform is used to precisely extract pupil features. Because of the estimation step, the influence of eyelid and eyelash is largely eliminated. The experimental results show very good robustness and accuracy
