Data Augmentation (DA) is an effective strategy to increase model generalisation. In Natural Language Processing (NLP), DA remains in its early stages, primarily due to the inherent sensitivity of textual data, which complicates the augmentation process. These complexities are further increased in multilingual contexts, as DA techniques effective in one language may not yield comparable results in others. As a result, manually identifying optimal DA techniques that preserve semantic integrity and are language agnostic remains a significant challenge. It emphasises the necessity for automating the text DA process with Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), which offers a promising approach by calculating word importance scores to effectively guide the augmentation. In this paper, a comprehensive review of existing approaches in auto-text DA is presented, beginning with an exploration of the concept of auto-text DA, followed by a discussion on its cross-lingual applications, and concluding with the integration of XAI for semantic preservation. The paper highlights the critical need for further research to enhance the effectiveness and applicability of XAI in auto-text DA, enabling its use across diverse languages.

Automated incidence reporting requires accurate and timely anomaly detection. This paper considers this in the context of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). BGP is crucial for Internet routing but is vulnerable to attacks due to a lack of widespread authentication. While rare, BGP disruptions can be highly detrimental to Internet performance and security. Detecting BGP anomalies helps network operators protect their networks and improve Internet reliability. In this work, we investigate and develop anomaly detection for BGP using Machine-Learning. We extract relevant features of BGP control plane messages from RIPE RIS and RouteViews public datasets. After extracting features, we employ various feature selection algorithms to extract the most relevant features and explore balancing the datasets. Finally, we explore detection latency, an important operating parameter for automated anomaly detection. The results show that BGP anomalies can be detected in the order of seven minutes when using real attack data and that the observation point for the BGP data has a significant effect on anomaly detection.

Cloud services are experiencing a remarkable increase in the number of users and the resource required over the past few years. Thus, it has become a great challenge for the internet vendors to make a robust framework to serve the customers with low cost and delay. Congestion control is one of the essential topics of routing algorithms in cloud data center networks. In this paper, we propose a weighted optimal scheduling scheme WSPR for congestion control in cloud data center networks which prevents the congestion in advance with the global view so that it can make good use of vacant network resources. We choose BCube as our network model and modify the network topology to fit software-defined networks so as to have a full view of the topology. First, we design the SP graph which contains all shortest paths between a source server and a destination server. Second, we propose WSPR to allocate the most appropriate path to each flow for congestion control. We implement a system to simulate a data center, and evaluate our proposed scheme WSPR by comparing WSPR with other classical methods. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed scheme WSPR has the best performance in terms of the maximum delay, average delay, and throughput among all compared methods. © 2008-2012 IEEE.

Sri Lanka (SL) is a nation fighting with corruption and fraud, suffering from no viable solution to eliminate land fraud. It has been a longstanding barrier for land utilization, especially after the 30-year post-war situation. There have been continuous delays and access difficulties for lengthy searches regarding the land folios from the land registry. There are acres of lands that are unutilized and under-utilized, which could otherwise generate capital income for the country. The increasing land fraud has impacted not only the country's revenue but also the lives of victims who have been unable to prove the ownership of their lands which in return, has become a serious global concern. Although the United Nations (UN) has funded in projects across multiple countries, among which Sri Lanka was also one of them, according to the reports submitted to the UN, the performance has been *** Chain of Ownership is a solution to reduce land forgery prevailing within the country by presenting a transparent land ownership portal;taking the citizen's privacy in concern and designing a solution for the outstanding problem. The proposed solution will ensure seamless and convenient access to land information to expedite and efficiently help proceed with land transfers and registrations involving the necessary stakeholders during the process. Further, all documents are guaranteed to be maintained as softcopies regardless of being obsolete and will secure against each land parcel, as a historical record. The solution also has the potential to elevate Sri Lanka's position in the 'Doing Business' indicator measured by the UN, upon improving access and transparency over the land registration information and the trust of the general public through this portal. © 2021 IEEE.

Let V be a set of n vertices, M a set of m labels, and let R be an m × n matrix of independent Bernoulli random variables with probability of success p;columns of R are incidence vectors of label sets assigned to vertices. A random instance G(V, E, RT R) of the weighted random intersection graph model is constructed by drawing an edge with weight equal to the number of common labels (namely [RT R]v,u) between any two vertices u, v for which this weight is strictly larger than 0. In this paper we study the average case analysis of Weighted Max Cut, assuming the input is a weighted random intersection graph, i.e. given G(V, E, RT R) we wish to find a partition of V into two sets so that the total weight of the edges having exactly one endpoint in each set is maximized. In particular, we initially prove that the weight of a maximum cut of G(V, E, RT R) is concentrated around its expected value, and then show that, when the number of labels is much smaller than the number of vertices (in particular, m = nα, α Θ(1)n), we show that with high probability, a majority type randomized algorithm outputs a cut with weight that is larger than the weight of a random cut by a multiplicative constant strictly larger than 1. Then, we formally prove a connection between the computational problem of finding a (weighted) maximum cut in G(V, E, RT R) and the problem of finding a 2-coloring that achieves minimum discrepancy for a set system Σ with incidence matrix R (i.e. minimum imbalance over all sets in Σ). We exploit this connection by proposing a (weak) bipartization algorithm for the case m = n, p = Θ(1)n that, when it terminates, its output can be used to find a 2-coloring with minimum discrepancy in a set system with incidence matrix R. In fact, with high probability, the latter 2-coloring corresponds to a bipartition with maximum cut-weight in G(V, E, RT R). Emotion recognition is a topic of vital importance in the world of Big Data. The accurate classification, analysis and interpretation of emotional content is highly desired in a wide spectrum of applications. In this work we examine the performance of Deep Learning models for an emotion recognition task. These models can also be applied to any classification task as well as text-related tasks in general. We examine the performance of deep learning methods in textual emotion recognition under different feature selection parameters such as one-hot-enconding, custom word2vec and more. An experimental study was designed and various deep learning methods were evaluated in publicly available datasets. The results are quite interesting and indicate the advantages of each method and each examined training approach. © 2021 IEEE.

Natural Language Processing nowadays provides scientists with many research areas and opportunities, but as with most applied sciences, our goal in Natural Language Processing is to refine the underlying science and technology until it can be used reliably for business purposes. Transformer models, such as GPT or BERT, are currently showing outstanding results in the field of natural-language processing, but they require huge computational power and data to teach, but these conditions can only be met by larger research centers and large companies, and their inaccuracy makes them unsuitable for use as a 'business as usual' (BAU) solution. In this paper, we present a solution that is able to overcome these problems by focusing on accuracy and usability, and that can also bring a new perspective to the process of teaching deep learning models. © 2023 IEEE.

OBJECTIVES: This review presents research papers highlighting notable developments and trends in sensors, signals, and imaging informatics (SSII) in 2022. METHOD: We performed a bibliographic search in PubMed combining Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms and keywords to create particular queries for sensors, signals, and imaging informatics. Only papers published in journals containing greater than three articles in the search query were considered. Using a three-point Likert scale (1 = not include, 2 = perhaps include, 3 = include), we reviewed the titles and abstracts of all database results. Only articles that scored three times Likert scale 3, or two times Likert scale 3, and one time Likert scale 2 were considered for full paper review. On this pre-selection, only papers with a total of at least eight points of the three section co-editors were considered for external review. Based on the external reviewers, we selected the top two papers representing significant research in SSII. RESULTS: Among the 469 returned papers published in 2022 in the various areas of SSII, 90, 31, and 348 papers for sensors, signals, and imaging informatics, and then, the full review process selected the two best papers. From the 469 papers, the section co-editors identified 29 candidate papers with at least 8 Likert points in total, of which 9 were nominated as the best contributions after a full paper assessment. Five external reviewers evaluated the nominated papers, and the two highest-scoring papers were selected based on the overall scores of all external reviewers. A consensus of the International Medical informatics Association (IMIA) Yearbook editorial board finally approved the nominated papers. Machine and deep learning-based techniques continue to be the dominant theme in this field. Cloud computing proved itself a powerful and popular platform for providing computing services. It offers on-demand services to users with highly efficient resources over the internet. With the exponential increase in the number of internet users and due to the high acceptance rate to use the cloud services in everything, the demand for cloud platforms has also increased significantly. This leads to heavy workloads on the servers, which is a difficult task to manage due to the heterogeneity and uncertainty of the resources. However, several traditional, heuristic, and evolutionary-based approaches have been proposed to solve the problem of scheduling. Existing state-of-art techniques and frameworks have solved the problem up to a limited level. Still, these solutions have not given any effective and concrete solution for the overall resource scheduling problem. Therefore, this paper tries to overcome the bottleneck of existing solutions by presenting a new framework named Genetic Algorithm Water Pressure Change (GAWPC) to solve task scheduling problems efficiently. The GAWPC framework exploited the feature of the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Water Pressure Change optimization (WPCO) techniques to form a new hybrid mechanism. In the proposed framework, GA has been deployed to find the optimal solution for a particular population. WPCO has been used to optimize fitness function for a fast convergence rate. The computer-based simulation has demonstrated promising benefits like improved computation cost, make-span time, and load balancing when compared with the most recent existing baseline techniques using CloudSim. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
