LucIE: Language-guided local image editing for fashion images

Robust tube-based MPC with smooth computation for dexterous robot manipulation

Dexterous robot manipulation has shone in complex industrial scenarios, where multiple manipulators, or fingers, cooperate to grasp and manipulate objects. When encountering multi-objective optimization with system constraints in such scenarios, model predictive control(MPC) has demonstrated exceptional performance in complex multi-robot manipulation tasks involving multi-objective optimization with system constraints. However, in such scenarios, the substantial computational load required to solve the optimal control problem(OCP) at each triggering instant can lead to significant delays between state sampling and control application, hindering real-time performance. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a novel robust tube-based smooth MPC approach for two fundamental manipulation tasks: reaching a given target and tracking a reference trajectory. By predicting the successor state as the initial condition for imminent OCP solving, we can solve the forthcoming OCP ahead of time, alleviating delay effects. Additionally,we establish an upper bound for linearizing the original nonlinear system, reducing OCP complexity and enhancing response speed. Grounded in tube-based MPC theory, the recursive feasibility and closed-loop stability amidst constraints and disturbances are ensured. Empirical validation is provided through two numerical simulations and two real-world dexterous robot manipulation tasks, which shows that the seamless control input by our methods can effectively enhance the solving efficiency and control performance when compared to conventional time-triggered MPC strategies.

COMPrompter: reconceptualized segment anything model with multiprompt network for camouflaged object detection

We rethink the segment anything model(SAM) and propose a novel multiprompt network called COMPrompter for camouflaged object detection(COD). SAM has zero-shot generalization ability beyond other models and can provide an ideal framework for COD. Our network aims to enhance the single prompt strategy in SAM to a multiprompt strategy. To achieve this, we propose an edge gradient extraction module, which generates a mask containing gradient information regarding the boundaries of camouflaged objects. This gradient mask is then used as a novel boundary prompt, enhancing the segmentation process. Thereafter, we design a box-boundary mutual guidance module, which fosters more precise and comprehensive feature extraction via mutual guidance between a boundary prompt and a box prompt. This collaboration enhances the model's ability to accurately detect camouflaged objects. Moreover, we employ the discrete wavelet transform to extract high-frequency features from image embeddings. The high-frequency features serve as a supplementary component to the multiprompt ***, our COMPrompter guides the network to achieve enhanced segmentation results, thereby advancing the development of SAM in terms of COD. Experimental results across COD benchmarks demonstrate that COMPrompter achieves a cutting-edge performance, surpassing the current leading model by an average positive metric of 2.2% in COD10K. In the specific application of COD, the experimental results in polyp segmentation show that our model is superior to top-tier methods as well. The use of digital and social media is growing every day as technology advances. People in the twenty-first century are growing up in a social media and internet-enabled society. Digital media offers a lot of opportunities, but people frequently tend to misuse them. On social networking sites, people spread anger toward a person. People are affected by cyberbullying in various ways. It has an impact on more than just health;numerous other factors put life in danger. Cyberbullying is a widespread modern phenomenon that people cannot completely avoid but can prevent. The author proposes a system for automatic cyberbullying detection and prevention using supervised machine learning. The system considers key characteristics of cyberbullying, such as the intention to harm, repeated behavior, and the use of abusive language. Support vector machines and logistic regression are employed to identify cyberbullying and related themes/categories such as race, physical, sexuality, and politics. This proposed method offers a novel theory for the detection of cyberbullying: texting has evolved over time due to changes in context usage, and language. In the dataset that includes tweets, Support Vector Machine (SVM), Naive Bayes, and Logistic Regression (LR) models were tested along with different Natural Language Processing methods. The accuracy of the system is improved by sentiment analysis, N-gram analysis, and other non-traditional feature extraction methods like Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) and profanity detection. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. Enhanced Cancer Subclassification Using Multi-Omics Clustering and Quantum Cat Swarm Optimization

Integrating multiple omics data can significantly improve the accuracy of cancer subclassification, a challenging task due to the high dimensionality and limited sample sizes. The integration of these data sets can enhance model performance. This study addresses these challenges by employing Quantum Cat Swarm Optimization (QCSO) for feature selection, along with K-means clustering and Support Vector Machine (SVM) for classification. Using QCSO, the most significant features were identified, resulting in an increase in accuracy from 81% to 100%. Performance was evaluated using accuracy, F1-score, precision, recall, ROC, and the silhouette metric, all of which confirmed the effectiveness of the feature selection approach. Additionally, this method enhances the classification of samples while making the models more interpretable, providing better insights into the molecular mechanisms of cancer. This work contributes to advancing knowledge in the field of cancer research and biology in general. © 2024 College of Education, Al-Iraqia University. All rights reserved.

Fulfilling increasing performance demands of space and automotive applications can be problematic as high dependability is required. Memory is one of the most radiationsensitive parts, so it is often protected with information redundancy. This paper describes an integration of error correction and detection techniques into the interface of RISC-V processor to protect the data stored in the memory. We also provide a hardware-software interface for reporting errors and software routines for correcting data in memory. Our solution has a negligible impact (-3.9%) on the overall performance of the core with a small area and power consumption overhead. © 2024 IEEE.

The Vehicle Routing Problem with pickups, deliveries and spatiotemporal service constraints (VRPPDSTC) is a quite challenging algorithmic problem that can be dealt with in either an offline or an online fashion. In this work, we focus on a generalization, called VRPPDSTCtd, in which the travel-time metric is time-dependent: the traversal-time per road segment (represented as a directed arc) is determined by some function of the departure-time from its tail towards its head. Time-dependence makes things much more complicated, even for the simpler problem of computing earliest-arrival-time paths which is a crucial subroutine to be solved (numerous times) by VRPPDSTCtd schedulers. We propose two online schedulers of requests to workers, one which is a time-dependent variant of the classical Plain-Insertion heuristic, and an extension of it trying to digest some sort of forecasts for future demands for service. We enrich these two online schedulers with two additional heuristics, one targeting for distance-balanced assignments of work loads to the workers and another that makes local-search-improvements to the produced solutions. We conduct a careful experimental evaluation of the proposed algorithms on a real-world instance, with or without these heuristics, and compare their quality with human-curated assignments provided by professional experts (human operators at actual pickup-and-delivery control centers), and also with feasible solutions constructed from a relaxed MILP formulation of VRPPDSTCtd, which is also introduced in this paper. Our findings are quite encouraging, demonstrating that the proposed algorithms produce solutions which (i) are significant improvements over the human-curated assignments, and (ii) have overall quality pretty close to that of the (extremely time-consuming) solutions provided by an exact solver for the MILP formulation. © Spyros Kontogiannis, Andreas Paraskevopoulos, and Christos Zaroliagis.

Emotion recognition in text has become an essential research area within artificial intelligence and natural language processing due to its applications in sentiment analysis, human-computer interaction, and social media analysis. This paper introduces an approach for emotion recognition in social networks using transformer models enhanced with explainability techniques. By leveraging the advanced capabilities of transformers to analyze and classify emotions in written content, our finetuned models achieves high accuracy in identifying emotions according to the Ekman emotional model. The integration of LIME and SHAP provides transparency and interpretability to our model, making it more trustworthy for practical applications. Our findings indicate that models like XLNET report an exceptional performance in emotion recognition tasks. The explainability techniques illustrate the transformer model decision-making processes and the way that they utilize words and their continual information in sentences. © 2024 IEEE.

As the demand for reliable and accurate electricity metering escalates in the digital era, traditional systems increasingly need to improve due to their centralized nature, prone to inaccuracies, privacy breaches, and cybersecurity threats. This paper proposes a novel solution that harnesses the transformative power of Blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to address these critical challenges. By integrating the immutable ledger capabilities of blockchain with the real-time data acquisition prowess of IoT, we introduce a decentralized system that ensures the secure and transparent measurement and billing of electricity for domestic consumers. Adopting Hyperledger Fabric within our framework offers a robust, scalable architecture that supports secure transactions and enhances trust through digital identities for all participants. This system mitigates the vulnerabilities associated with centralized authorities and efficiently monitors and manages energy consumption with unprecedented precision. Through this approach, we aim to revolutionize the electricity metering infrastructure, providing a blueprint for future advancements in the energy sector. © 2024 IEEE.

Developing a method to detect driver drowsiness based on a single EEG channel and discriminated features

Driver drowsiness is one of the leading causes of road deaths and transportation industry dangers. Due to its direct evaluation of neurophysiological brain activity, electroencephalography (EEG) has been regarded as one of the most reliable physiological indicators for identifying driver drowsiness. This study proposes a straightforward, cost-effective method for detecting driver drowsiness using a single channel. The contribution of this research is the discovery of drowsiness using discriminated features [moments features (M1, M2, M3, M4), roughness features (R1, R2, R3, R4), zero crossing rate (ZCR), sample entropy (SE) and median absolute deviation (MAD)] from publicly available datasets. A novel model was introduced in this study, which involved the fusion of wavelet transform Daubechies order 4 (WTDB4) and residue decomposition (RD) techniques for feature extraction. Various classification algorithms, including the least-square support vector machine (LSSVM) and ensemble models were compared in terms of their performance metrics. The algorithm that exhibited superior accuracy with reduced computational time was chosen to classify the driver's status into two groups: awake and drowsy.
