One important feature of redundancy analysis (RA) algorithms is repair rate. To estimate repair rate of various RA algorithms, software simulations of the algorithms on a number of memory fault maps representing real faulty memories are needed. In order to obtain realistic estimations, the fault distribution in maps has to resemble distributions observed in real chips as much as possible. In this paper, it is shown how fault distributions affect repair rate of some RA algorithms. Also, a universal fault map generator based on random and cluster-oriented approaches suitable for repair rate estimations of RA algorithms is proposed.

Graphical password is an alternative method of authentication to alphanumerical passwords. From the perspective of research on human memory, it is yet another novel technology that introduces challenges on human memory components. In this study, we aim to investigate the previous findings in human visual memory in the domain of graphical passwords by analyzing the role of visual coherence in passwords. The results of an experimental study reveal that in terms of memorability, coherent images are better candidates as graphical password images than jumbled images. © CogSci *** rights reserved.

We show an O*(2k)-time polynomial space algorithm for the k-sized Graph Motif problem. We also introduce a new optimization variant of the problem, called Closest Graph Motif and solve it within the same time bound. The Closest Graph Motif problem encompasses several previously studied optimization variants, like Maximum Graph Motif, Min-Substitute, and Min-Add. Moreover, we provide a piece of evidence that our result might be essentially tight: the existence of an O*((2- ∈)k)-time algorithm for the Graph Motif problem implies an O((2- ∈0)n)- time algorithm for Set Cover.

The momentum-weighted sum of the charges of tracks associated to a jet is sensitive to the charge of the initiating quark or gluon. This paper presents a measurement of the distribution of momentum-weighted sums, called jet charge, in dijet events using 20.3 fb−1 of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at s=8 TeV in pp collisions at the LHC. The jet charge distribution is unfolded to remove distortions from detector effects and the resulting particle-level distribution is compared with several models. The pT dependence of the jet charge distribution average and standard deviation are compared to predictions obtained with several leading-order and next-to-leading-order parton distribution functions. The data are also compared to different Monte Carlo simulations of QCD dijet production using various settings of the free parameters within these models. The chosen value of the strong coupling constant used to calculate gluon radiation is found to have a significant impact on the predicted jet charge. There is evidence for a pT dependence of the jet charge distribution for a given jet flavor. In agreement with perturbative QCD predictions, the data show that the average jet charge of quark-initiated jets decreases in magnitude as the energy of the jet increases.

This paper presents a study of and triboson production using events from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb . The production cross-section is determined using a final state containing an electron, a muon, a photon, and neutrinos ( ). Upper limits on the production cross-section of the final state and the and final states containing an electron or a muon, two jets, a photon, and a neutrino ( or ) are also derived. The results are compared to the cross-sections predicted by the Standard Model at next-to-leading order in the strong-coupling constant. In addition, upper limits on the production cross-sections are derived in a fiducial region optimised for a search for new physics beyond the Standard Model. The results are interpreted in the context of anomalous quartic gauge couplings using an effective field theory. Confidence intervals at 95% confidence level are derived for the 14 coupling coefficients to which and production are sensitive.

In this paper, we propose and implement a medical support system considering P2P and IoT technologies. We used our implemented smart device that we call Smart Box. We have implemented in the Smart Box many functions and sensor such as body sensor, infrared sensor, chair or bed vibration control, light control, smell control and sound control. By using Smart Box the implemented system is able to control the situation of patients. We carried out experiments to evaluate the implemented system. The evaluation results show that the implemented system can detect the patient situation.

To address various types of delays including the neutral-type arising in dynamical networks, this paper deals with coupled delay differential and continuous-time difference equations and develops stability and robustness criteria. Subsystems described by differential equations are not required to be input-to-state stable. No assumptions on network topology are made. To tackle networks in such a general formulation, this paper explicitly constructs Lyapunov-type functionals establishing stability and robustness of the overall networks. The construction requires only simple characterizations of subsystems in terms of inequalities with Lyapunov functions and instantaneous norms.

We present improved methods for computing a set of alternative source-to-destination routes in road networks in the form of an alternative graph. The resulting alternative graphs are characterized by minimum path overlap, small stretch factor, as well as low size and complexity. Our approach improves upon a previous one by introducing a new pruning stage preceding any other heuristic method and by introducing a new filtering and fine-tuning of two existing methods. Our accompanying experimental study shows that the entire alternative graph can be computed pretty fast even in continental size networks.

The aim of our work is to design a decision support system based on ontological representation of domain(s) and semantic technologies. Specifically, we consider the case when Grid / Cloud user describes his/her requirements regarding a “resource” as a class expression from an ontology, while the instances of (the same) ontology represent available resources. The goal is to help the user to find the best option with respect to his/her requirements, while remembering that user’s knowledge may be “limited.” In this context, we discuss multiple approaches based on semantic data processing, which involve different “forms” of user interaction with the system. Specifically, we consider: (a) ontological matchmaking based on SPARQL queries and class expression, (b) graph-based semantic closeness of instances representing user requirements (constructed from the class expression) and available resources, and (c) multicriterial analysis based on the AHP method, which utilizes expert domain knowledge (also ontologically represented).

In the current work, we present our position towards the modeling of a decision support system for health assessment and prevention of risky situations in the life of seniors. A two-layer architecture based on the Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) methodology is considered as the main tool to encode medical knowledge and reason about the health status of seniors. This is the initial step, since outputs of several discrete FCM models are then combined to form the input concepts for an upper level schema (the health status of the senior) of upper-level concepts and relationships, so as to infer about recommended individualized therapies and interventions that would help therapists to prevent risky situations and enhance the independence and quality of life of the seniors. A modeling sample of the depression assessment is presented at the first level of the proposed architecture, while am integration schema of the proposed approach provides a view of our future extended model. © 2013 ACM.
