Cloud virtualization technology, ingrained with physical resource sharing, prompts cybersecurity threats on users’ virtual machines (VM)s due to the presence of inevitable vulnerabilities on the offsite servers. Contrary to the existing works which concentrated on reducing resource sharing and encryption/decryption of data before transfer for improving cybersecurity which raises computational cost overhead, the proposed model operates diversely for efficiently serving the same purpose. This paper proposes a novel Multiple Risks Analysis based VM Threat Prediction Model (MR-TPM) to secure computational data and minimize adversary breaches by proactively estimating the VMs threats. It considers multiple cybersecurity risk factors associated with the configuration and management of VMs, along with analysis of users’ behaviour. All these threat factors are quantified for the generation of respective risk score values and fed as input into a machine learning based classifier to estimate the probability of threat for each VM. The performance of MR-TPM is evaluated using benchmark Google Cluster and OpenNebula VM threat traces. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model efficiently computes the cybersecurity risks and learns the VM threat patterns from historical and live data samples. Medical image segmentation is an essential process in disease analysis and diagnosis, in which medical images are divided into specific areas of anatomic or pathological structures. However, this process has challenges, such as the quality, variability, and complexity of medical images. Thus, we propose a medical image segmentation method using the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and the Histogram Equalization (HE) image preprocessing. We evaluated medical image segmentation using 2 secondary datasets, namely Lung CT-Scan and Chest X-Rays, with 267 and 3616 images, respectively. The HE method uses an averaging of the optimal cumulative distribution function (CDF) values with a range of 0 to 39. The experimental results show that adding the HE method can increase the accuracy of CNN on the Lung CT-Scan and Chest X-rays data sets, respectively, by 0.73 percentage points from 91.28% to 92.08 % and 1.23 percentage points from 95.56% to 96.85% for the training process. The results of the testing process (validation) have an increase in accuracy of 2.82 percentage points from 89.77% to 92.59% and 0.91 percentage points from 96.06% to 96.97%. Implementing the HE method increases accuracy in CNN medical image segmentation based on the value of dice similarity coefficient (DSC) and structural similarity index measurement (SSIM) close to 0.95.

The integration of human resources and artificial intelligence has shown a growing interest in automatically predicting personality traits, particularly in recruitment. To contribute to this field, we propose a new method to assist human resource professionals in Indonesia to identify candidates' personality traits. Biases come from personality tests due to their question format and susceptibility to manipulation on this research, we propose an approach that combines personality tests using the BFI form, which measures OCEAN personality traits, with personality trait predictions derived from Twitter data. This research aims to create a personality prediction model and system that efficiently and effectively screens candidate personality traits in human resources. This research has developed a novel model that combines personality test results with tweets personality prediction with an impressive F1-macro performance of 98%.

Due to intrinsic properties such as transparency, immutability, decentralization, and cryptographic security, blockchain has emerged as a revolutionary technology. Despite its widespread application, blockchain is not used to store huge data due to the restricted storage capacity offered by each block. Furthermore, because the data contained in a block must be duplicated on many other nodes on the network, storage space is wasted. Off-chain storage is therefore required to store significant volumes of data while preserving the efficiency and performance of the network. Additionally, off-chain solutions such as Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS) would reduce the cost requirements of blockchain nodes as data stored and processed by these nodes would be reduced. Hence, strong decentralized storage is provided by IPFS that is a P2P-based content-addressed file sharing system that uses cryptographic hashes to store data. As a result, by combining blockchain with IPFS, an efficient file sharing system would be created. This paper presents a comprehensive IPFS architecture, a simplified version of this integrated approach, and potential applications that might assist to maximize the worth of both systems. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The work reported in this article addresses the challenge of building models for non-trivial aerobatic aircraft maneuvers in an automated fashion. It is built using a Behavioural Cloning approach where human pilots provide a set of example maneuvers used by a Machine Learning algorithm to induce a control model for each maneuver. The best examples for each maneuver were selected using a set of objective evaluation metrics. Using those example sets, robust models were induced that could replicate (and in some cases outperform) the human pilots that provided the examples (the clean-up effect). Complete complex maneuvers were performed using a meta-controller capable of sequencing the basic ones learned by imitation. This endeavor was rewarded by the results that show several Machine Learning models capable of performing highly complex aircraft maneuvers. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Imitation Game for Adversarial Disillusion with Chain-of-Thought Role-Play in Generative AI

As the cornerstone of artificial intelligence, machine perception confronts a fundamental threat posed by adversarial illusions. These adversarial attacks manifest in two primary forms: deductive illusion, where specific stimuli are crafted based on the victim model's general decision logic, and inductive illusion, where the victim model's general decision logic is shaped by specific stimuli. The former exploits the model's decision boundaries to create a stimulus that, when applied, interferes with its decision-making process. The latter reinforces a conditioned reflex in the model, embedding a backdoor during its learning phase that, when triggered by a stimulus, causes aberrant behaviours. The multifaceted nature of adversarial illusions calls for a unified defence framework, addressing vulnerabilities across various forms of attack. In this study, we propose a disillusion paradigm based on the concept of an imitation game. At the heart of the imitation game lies a multimodal generative agent, steered by chain-of-thought reasoning, which observes, internalises and reconstructs the semantic essence of a sample, liberated from the classic pursuit of reversing the sample to its original state. As a proof of concept, we conduct experimental simulations using a multimodal generative dialogue agent and evaluates the methodology under a variety of attack scenarios. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed framework consistently neutralises both deductive and inductive adversarial illusions. Across a range of white-box and black-box attack scenarios, the imitation-based method achieved classification accuracies between 94% and 97% on a subset of the ImageNet dataset, significantly outperforming benchmark defences such as JPEG compression and DiffPure. © 2013 IEEE.

Tuna products are one of Indonesia’s leading export commodity products. Accuracy in determining the quality grade of tuna is necessary to ensure food safety and product quality. Several cases of rejection of Indonesian fishery products by the United States and cases of food poisoning show a lack of food safety management in Indonesia. Determination of fish quality grade was done manually by identifying the eyes condition, gills, and meat color, taking a sample of tuna meat using a spike, which is the manual grading process causing human error. Previous studies had been carried out to identify the freshness and quality of fish using odor profiles, and color profiles from color sensors, measuring fish freshness and quality based on fish eye images. According to Robert DiGregorio, five parameters determine the grade quality of tuna, namely freshness, fish size and shape, meat color, texture, and fat content. Fish grades are grouped into grade 1, grade 2+, grade 2, and grade 3. This study aims to determine the grade quality of tuna meat based on color space through image preprocessing, dataset training, and classification. Image preprocessing consists of image cropping, converting images from RGB to HSV, and feature extraction using a wavelet. The training phase uses the k-NN algorithm using k=4 based on the number of classes. The result shows the correlation coefficient between grades of feature extraction using wavelet Symlet better than Haar. Classification of 65 images test dataset using Symlet wavelet and k-NN has a better accuracy of 81.8% compared to the Haar wavelet k-NN with an accuracy of 80.3%.

This paper considers one dimensional unsteady heat condition in a media with temperature dependent thermal conductivity. When the thermal conductivity depends on the temperature, the corresponding heat equation is nonlinear. At one or both boundaries, a relaxing boundary condition is applied. It is a time dependent condition that approaches continuously, as time increases, a certain time independent condition. Such behavior at the boundaries arises naturally in some physical systems. As an example, we propose a simple model system that can give rise to either Dirichlet or convective relaxing boundary condition. Due to the dependence of the thermal conductivity on the temperature, the convective condition is nonlinear. For the solution of the problem, we propose a new numerical approach that first discretizes the heat equation in time, whereby a sequence of two-point boundary value problems (TPBVPs) is obtained. We use implicit time discretization, which provides for unconditional stability of the method. If the initial condition is given, we can solve consecutively the TPBVPs and get approximations of the temperature at the different time levels. For the solution of the TPBVPs, we apply the finite difference method. The arising nonlinear systems are solved by Newton’s method. As the need for achieving optimal performance in prediction models, several recent and complex models have been developed. However, many of these models operate as black boxes, providing little insight into their predictive results. In recent years, three gradient-boosting methods based on Decision Trees have been recommended, i.e., XGBoost, CatBoost, and LightGBM. These methods have proven to deliver competitive performance with fast training times. Nevertheless, in critical domains like security, there is a growing need for increased transparency among stakeholders. One pressing concern in the security field is the proliferation of phishing websites. To address this issue, we propose an explainable machine learning-based approach using gradient-boosting methods with hyperparameter optimization on three phishing website datasets. Our best methods surpass the state-of-the-art phishing website detection methods, achieving accuracy rates of 97.45%, 99.16%, and 97.85% for the UCI (2015), Mendeley (2018), and Mendeley (2020) datasets, respectively. Subsequently, we implement posthoc explainability using SHAP and LIME for the selected dataset. The experimental results indicate that three features, i.e., length_url, directory_length, and time_domain_activation, are consistently identified as the most influential features in the dataset. Moreover, our proposed approach demonstrates promising results for detecting phishing websites with both high accuracy and explainability. © 2024 IEEE.
