The cyber–physical convergence is opening up new business opportunities for industrial operators. The need for deep integration of the cyber and the physical worlds establishes a rich business agenda towards consolidating new system and network engineering approaches. This revolution would not be possible without the rich and heterogeneous sources of data, as well as the ability of their intelligent exploitation, mainly due to the fact that data will serve as a fundamental resource to promote Industry 4.0. One of the most fruitful research and practice areas emerging from this data-rich, cyber-physical, smart factory environment is the data-driven process monitoring field, which applies machine learning methodologies to enable predictive maintenance applications. In this paper, we examine popular time series forecasting techniques as well as supervised machine learning algorithms in the applied context of Industry 4.0, by transforming and preprocessing the historical industrial dataset of a packing machine’s operational state recordings (real data coming from the production line of a manufacturing plant from the food and beverage domain). In our methodology, we use only a single signal concerning the machine’s operational status to make our predictions, without considering other operational variables or fault and warning signals, hence its characterization as "agnostic". In this respect, the results demonstrate that the adopted methods achieve a quite promising performance on three targeted use cases. © 2022, CC BY-NC-ND.

In this paper, an improved method for VR user experience prediction is investigated by introducing a sparrow search algorithm and a random forest algorithm improved by an iterative local search-optimised sparrow search algorithm. The study firstly conducted a statistical analysis of the data, and then trained and tested using the traditional random forest model, the random forest model improved by the sparrow search algorithm, and the random forest algorithm improved based on the iterative local search-sparrow search algorithm, respectively. The results show that the traditional random forest model has a prediction accuracy of 93% on the training set but only 73.3% on the test set, which is poor in generalisation;whereas the model improved by the sparrow search algorithm has a prediction accuracy of 94% on the test set, which is improved compared with the traditional model. What is more noteworthy is that the improved model based on the iterative local search-sparrow search algorithm achieves 100% accuracy on both the training and test sets, which is significantly better than the other two methods. These research results provide new ideas and methods for VR user experience prediction, especially the improved model based on the iterative local search-sparrow search algorithm performs well and is able to more accurately predict and classify the user's VR experience. In the future, the application of this method in other fields can be further explored, and its effectiveness can be verified through real cases to promote the development of AI technology in the field of user experience. © 2024 IEEE.

Despite edge computing reducing communication delays associated with cloud computing, privacy concerns remain a significant challenge when sharing data from edge-based consumer electronics (CE) or Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. Ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) is a cryptographic tool that facilitates intricate and refined access control. It can deliver more flexible, secure, compact, and effective access control policies for the cloud data. In the case of a conventional CP-ABE scheme, the keys can only be issued and disseminated by a trusted central authority (CA). However, if the CA is compromised, the entire system becomes more susceptible to assaults or failures, which leads to a single-point failure. In this article, we propose a Ring-Learning with Errors (Ring-LWE)-based MA-CP-ABE scheme that is effectively resolved by the multi-authority CP-ABE (MA-CP-ABE), and it ensures the security against quantum attacks. The threshold secret sharing by Shamir and the Lagrange interpolation formula are applied in the key-generation and decryption procedures of the proposed scheme, which make it easier to segment and restore the private keys. The proposed scheme is implemented in the CE-enabled IoT-based smart healthcare applications using the blockchain technology as a secure storage. A detailed comparative study, security analysis and experimental results with the existing relevant schemes shows that the proposed scheme exhibits superior security and better efficiency as compared to other schemes, demonstrating its feasibility in practical IoT-based healthcare applications. © 2025 IEEE.

The Named Data Networking (NDN) paradigm has been used as a promising vehicle communication model, namely the Vehicular Named Data Networking (V-NDN) model. In NDN, delivery of interest in the NDN network is done by selecting an existing interface. The problem is as to which interface is right in terms of fulfilling the request that suits the user. In this study, we compare the effectiveness of each forwarding strategy by creating new scenarios, such as variations in the number of interests and simulation time. We also measure the effectiveness of the forwarding strategy using the parameters specified in the NFD Forwarding Pipeline. The conclusion from the experiment is that superior forwarding strategy recommendations are based on content store (CS) management and data compatibility obtained based on consumer demand for producers.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an essential visualizing tool in the diagnosis and monitoring of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) disease. However, the neurological examinations and the MRI assessments are insufficient to provide personalized treatment to the patients due to the complexity of the disease. This study implemented an explainable artificial intelligence (AI) model with embedded rules to assess MS disease evolution. Clinical data were used including demographic and neurological measurements. Texture features were extracted from manually delineated and normalized brain MRI lesions. Statistical analysis was employed to select the statistically significant texture features and clinical data. Different models using machine learning algorithms were implemented to differentiate the subjects diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) from the subjects with progressive MS (PMS). Argumentation-based reasoning was performed by modifying the rules extracted from models with the best evaluation results. The findings indicated that the proposed explainable AI model can predict the clinical conditions of MS disease with high accuracy and provide transparent and understandable explanations with high fidelity. Future work will include further clinical data such as medications and investigate the correlation of the texture features and clinical data with the neurological impairment. The proposed model should also be evaluated on more MS *** Relevance— This method can assist clinical experts by providing explainable and interpretable diagnosis in the assessment of MS disease.

This study proposes a method that can easily grasp the relationship between the actual machine and the graphs. In recent years, there has been a lot of research on augmented reality displays. The fields of research range from education to welfare. In the development of control systems, when evaluating the performance of a system by simulation or experiment, the results are often checked as graphs. Since the graphs are checked on a PC using CAD or other means, it is difficult to know which part of the actual machine each graph corresponds to. Therefore, we developed a tool that displays graphs in augmented reality around the actual machine through a camera on a mobile terminal. To display graphs in augmented reality, it is important to obtain the coordinates of the actual machine and display them in a location associated with the device. Therefore, a USD model with the same shape and size as the actual machine is used. This is achieved by displaying the USD model in augmented reality so that it is superimposed on the actual machine. The accuracy of the tool was also examined and its usefulness was evaluated.

Regardless of the rapid development of sequencing technology, single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array has been widely used for many large-scale genomic studies due to its cost-effectiveness. Recently, in parallel with the advancement in imputation strategies, several genotyping platforms for various species have been developed. Despite the importance of imputation accuracy in SNP array design, to the best of our knowledge, there are no systematic studies for evaluating tag SNP selection methods based on this metric. In this paper, using the leave-one-out cross-validation approach on the 1000 genome high-coverage dataset, we comprehensively evaluated four well-known tag SNP selection algorithms based on imputation accuracy. Our results showed that although all widely used methods for SNP array design can provide reasonable imputation accuracy, pairwise linkage disequilibrium based tag SNP selection algorithm achieves the best performance. Our pipelines for running evaluated algorithms and leave-one-out cross-validation are available for public use at https://***/datngu/TagSNP_evaluation. © 2021 IEEE.

The usage of digital/social media is increasing day by day with the advancement of technology. People in the twenty-first century are being raised in an internet-enabled world with social media. Communication has been just one button click. Even though there are plenty of opportunities with digital media people tend to misuse it. People spread hatred toward a person in social networking. Cyberbullying affects people in different aspects. It doesn’t affect only for health, there are more different aspects which will lead life to a threat. Cyberbullying is a worldwide modern phenomenon which humans cannot avoid hundred percent but can be prevented. Most existing solutions have shown techniques/approaches to detect cyberbullying, but they are not freely available for end-users to use. They haven’t considered the evolution of language which makes a big impact on cyberbullying text. This paper describes a system for automatic detection and prevention cyberbullying considering the main characteristics of cyberbullying such as Intention to harm an individual, Repeatedly and over time and using abusive curl language or hate speech using supervised machine learning. The system relies on the detection of cyberbullying text along with the themes/categories associated with cyberbullying such as racist, sexual, physical mean, swear and other, using support vector machines and Logistic regression. The author of this research presents a new hypothesis for cyberbullying detection that the circumstances and usage of texting and its language have changed by time. Most of the studies have considered calling someone stupid, ugly and idiot as cyberbullying. Things have changed, such words may or may not always be a bullying incident. If a person wants intentionally to harm an individual, they will use extreme words. In addition to traditional feature extraction techniques like Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF), N-gram and profanity along with sentiment analysis increase

Due to the possibilities provided by such technologies to provide people with live immersive virtual worlds, Extended Reality (XR) technologies such as virtual (VR), augmented (AR), and mixed reality (MR) have grown. The role of XR has a highly effective and efficient technology in virtual laboratories (VL) as experiments can be performed almost anywhere. During the laboratory activities, students are facing the issue of dealing with dangerous equipment such as Semiconductor fabrication furnace, which has a high temperature. In recent years, modern sensors such as Leap Motion Controller can track human movements and analyses the accuracy. This work presents a novelty approach of design training that can tracks body movements. Moreover, it provides warring alerts to trainer when it comes closer to dangerous places. While she/he is making wrong hand/body movement. When user do the experiment a semiconductor furnace training is operation in a VL. To illustrate more, this training enables the trainee to prevent his/her burning during the experiment according to safety and social distancing standards as well. Thus, Unity 3D has the capability to measure the following: accuracy, quality and efficiency of the system. XR training is significantly considering as safe technology to avoid user’s accidents. To conclude, in the field of Human-computer interaction (HCI), the analysis has been improved the training movement in terms of accuracy and interactivity respectively. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
