National Zoo of Malaysia or Zoo Negara is one of popular tourist attraction places in Malaysia that receives many visitors every day. Providing the best service and tour information for large volume of visitors every day is the main objective of Zoo Negara. However, the current issue facing by Zoo Negara is its current information medium where they still use printed paper-based mapping system. This medium is not helpful enough for the visitors to navigate inside the zoo as the information is insufficient and troubles Zoo Negara management in updating their map as well. In this paper, we propose a GIS-mobile based application that provides visitors with digital map. The digital map includes information about animals and events inside the zoo. Visitor can also view their current location and visited track on the map using navigation module. Zoo Negara management can regularly update their map and recent information easily through database. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Requirements elicitation and analysis is one of the topics covered in Software Engineering, Requirements Engineering (RE) and other subjects belonging to the group, which are usually taught to the undergraduate computer science students. Requirements elicitation and analysis are crucial to the software development as mistakes made at this stage will negatively impact the subsequent stages of development. Thus, it is important to ensure students' firm understanding of the topic. One way to improve their understanding is by improving their interest and engagement in the topic. Taking advantage of younger generation's inclination towards games, means to increase students' interest and understanding of the topic using serious games were proposed. However, most of the existing games thus far are not focusing on the requirements elicitation and analysis in detail and are limited to only one real-life scenario per game. This research therefore attempted to address the gap by designing and developing a digital serious game for requirements elicitation and analysis topic that aims to improve students' understanding of the topic by applying the knowledge gained from lectures to a number of real-life scenarios provided in the game. The content of the game was designed based on the learning objectives to be attained and its overall design and development followed the ADDIE model comprising analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation phases. This paper however focuses on the design and development phases of the game. A pilot test was performed at the end of the development phase where the game's usability and its ability to attain the learning objectives of the topic were assessed. However, the test only covered the first level of the game. Blockchain is a time stamped ledger that is used to keep immutable records. This technology has gained immense popularity due to the use of its decentralized architecture in cryptocurrency platforms. Blockchain has been increasingly adopted in other sectors due to its ability to ensure data integrity. The increasing use of blockchain by the public has made it become a subject to data privacy laws. Based on the study conducted by other researchers, there are features of blockchain that conflict with certain elements in data privacy laws. The European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which becomes a model for data privacy act of many other countries, has been identified to be incompatible with blockchain. One of the research works in the area of blockchain is to figure out how blockchain can be made to comply with such privacy laws. In Malaysia, blockchain is still relatively new and a study needs to be done to evaluate its compatibility with Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). Hence, the aim of this paper is to identify the gaps between blockchain and PDP A in terms of their compatibility and to propose solutions to bridge the gaps. Based on the gaps identified, the paper proposed the use permissioned or private blockchain, off-chain storage and stealth address to enable a blockchain application to be compliant with PDPA. © 2020 IEEE.

Due to the nature of the crowdsourcing applications that relies on the crowd participation to be successful, sustaining the volume of participating crowd is imperative. This is of particular concern in non-profit crowdsourcing applications where monetary rewards are not usually offered. To ensure this, factors that influence crowd to participate in non-profit crowdsourcing application need to be identified and means to address these factors when developing the crowdsourcing applications need to be devised. While existing work on the influencing factors are seen, the means to address the factors when developing the crowdsourcing applications are still absent. This research therefore extends the existing work on factors that influence the crowd participation in non-profit crowdsourcing applications by coming out with the framework containing the components that address the identified factors. A total of 11 components were included in the framework as a result of the analysis made on the identified influencing factors, which are divided into process and entity components. Preliminary evaluation performed by identifying the presence of the components in two selected nonprofit crowdsourcing applications known to be successful shows the relevance of the components in addressing the factors that influence crowd participation. The presence of the framework will be able to serve as a guide for the non-profit crowdsourcing application developers to develop applications that would be able to sustain crowd participation and hence, contributing to the survival of the applications. © 2020 IEEE.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, society need to embrace and adopt new norm that includes practising social distance to break the transmission. The smart social distance application or tracker can help people to be constantly monitored and reminded to adhere to this practice. Direct impact that can be seen from this application will be lower or minimum number of COVID-19 cases due to high level of social distance compliance. This paper will present an innovative solution called MySD which stand for 'My Safe Distance' that help users or public to observe social distance advice closely. It leverages smart phone hardware features that typically has Bluetooth transceiver as well GPS to determine safe distance and required level compliance. © 2020 IEEE.

Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into building management systems offers a promising path to improving energy consumption, particularly in legacy buildings that feature outdated air-conditioning (AC) systems. These buildings often face significant challenges such as structural constraints, poor insulation, and a lack of real-time data, which complicate efficient load balancing and energy optimization. This study introduces a novel simulation-based framework to evaluate and compare the performance of various machine learning models in optimizing AC systems in legacy buildings. Specifically, the research investigates six distinct models: Generalized Linear Model (GLM), Deep Learning, Decision Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosted Trees, and Support Vector Machine (SVM), using an academic building as a case study. A key contribution of this study is the application of a transformer-based simulation to benchmark these models under different operational scenarios, providing quantitative results on their energy-saving potential during normal operation and renovation phases. The findings show that the Decision Tree model yields the most significant reduction in energy consumption, demonstrating a reduction of 20 % during the renovation period and 15 % under normal operating conditions. A bibliometric analysis was also conducted to review the current state of AI applications in building energy optimization, identifying emerging trends, gaps, and key methodologies in the field. This study highlights the Decision Tree model's capability to improve load balancing, optimize energy efficiency, and contribute to sustainability goals in legacy buildings. This research enhances the theoretical framework and practical implementation of artificial intelligence in building energy management, providing a strategic guide for forthcoming AI-driven enhancements in outdated infrastructure.

Virtual Reality (VR) refers to the use of computer technology to create a simulated environment. The rapidly changing landscape of education indicates that learning methods in schools need to evolve to keep up with the trend of incorporating integrated technologies into learning modules. The Malaysian primary and secondary school teaching methods have been redesigned to meet the 21st century learning styles. The existence of new millennial classrooms, e-learning applications and computer labs in secondary schools have allowed teachers to experiment with these new teaching styles. The aim of this paper is to gauge an early analysis on students' perception of using virtual reality as a learning tool for critical topics in the Physics subject. This study focuses on the Physics subject as understanding a physics phenomenon is considered a challenging task. A questionnaire was delivered to 97 students consisting of upper secondary form 4, form 5 and recent science stream high school leavers. Data obtained from the questionnaire were analyzed and triangulated with a structured interview conducted to five Physics teachers. The results showed that there were positive perception towards the possibility of using VR in future for critical topics in Physics. Suggestions on the type of VR equipment preferred by both students and teachers to be used for learning is also highlighted. © 2020 IEEE.

Magnesium-doped bismuth ferrite (BiFeO₃ or BFO) nanoparticles were fabricated through the sol–gel auto-combustion method to increase their photocatalytic performance. The synthesis parameters, specifically annealing temperature (400, 500, and 600°C) and Mg doping concentration (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 %), were varied to investigate their effects on the photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B under simulated solar irradiation. The nanoparticles were then characterized using different analytical techniques to assess their structural, optical, and morphological properties. X-ray diffraction (XRD) results found that the existence of high intensity cubic sillenite phase, Bi₂₅FeO₄₀ as a secondary phase in 25 % Mg-doped bismuth ferrite nanoparticles with a crystallite size of 33.9 nm, which would enhance the photocatalytic performance. Besides, the vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis showed that the doping of Mg in the bismuth ferrite host structure significantly enhances superparamagnetic and soft ferromagnetic behavior as the dopant concentration increases from 5 to 25 % due to increase in saturation magnetization (from 2.28 emu/g to 6.19 emu/g) and reduction in coercivity (from 88.35 Oe to 49.81 Oe). Field emission scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (FESEM-EDX) micrograph shows the particles were fully crystallized with regular shapes, suggesting a uniform surface morphology. Ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis DRS) found that the band gap narrows to 2.0 eV when introducing Mg doping. Based on the photocatalytic degradation activity of Rhodamine B using Mg-doped bismuth ferrite nanoparticle (annealing temperature of 600 °C, 25 % Mg concentration) successfully achieved 80 % at 60 min, which was verified using response surface methodology (RSM)-central composite design (CCD).
