Information is an integral part of any person's or organisation's life as important decisions are made based on them. As such there is a need to properly store/achieve, manage and easily retrieve important and sensitive information when necessary. However, the use of papers and manually sorting, storing, searching, retrieving and moving files is tedious, time-consuming and not very efficient. The purpose of this study is to elicit and model requirements for a data archival management system to be used in Veritas University, Abuja. The system when implemented will solve a good number of the complications involved in manually archiving and managing files in the institution. The requirements elicitation was carried out via interviews while the requirements modelling were done using UML. © 2020 Mattingley Publishing. All rights reserved.

Current technological advancement and pressing environmental issues emphasise the need for better energy management to minimise wasting depleting resources. energy consumption can generally be divided into two, namely residential and commercial. Commercial energy consumption involves commercial buildings that include, but not limited to, banks, hotels, offices and academic buildings. While awareness on optimising energy use is more evident now, there is still a lack of understanding of the parametric values that are crucial in analysing the energy consumption of a commercial building that is unique to the building's function. This study aims to identify the relationships between a number of identified variables and the overall building energy consumption. The study intended to become the preliminary case study in identifying the correlations between selected variables and energy consumption. The analysis was carried out using covariance matrix on identified variables such as electricity consumption, user traffics, the maximum outdoor temperature of the month and the academic term. This study identified positive relationships between electricity consumption, user traffic, and maximum outdoor temperature. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study reports on the implementation of a web-based data archival management system. Informed and vital decisions are made on the basis of the information that is available to either individuals or organizations. Since information is important, it is needful to achieve and manage them properly for ease of their retrieval when needed. Nonetheless, the sorting, storing, searching, retrieving and moving of files has hitherto been done manually and with papers which is inefficient, tedious, and time-consuming. This research implements a data archival and management system in Veritas University, Abuja which solves the challenges and complexities in the manual system of archiving and managing of information in the institution. © 2020 Mattingley Publishing. The paper presents a methodology for social distancing detection using deep learning to evaluate the distance between people to mitigate the impact of this coronavirus pandemic. The detection tool was developed to alert people to maintain a safe distance with each other by evaluating a video feed. The video frame from the camera was used as input, and the open-source object detection pre-trained model based on the YOLOv3 algorithm was employed for pedestrian detection. Later, the video frame was transformed into top-down view for distance measurement from the 2D plane. The distance between people can be estimated and any noncompliant pair of people in the display will be indicated with a red frame and red line. The proposed method was validated on a pre-recorded video of pedestrians walking on the street. The result shows that the proposed method is able to determine the social distancing measures between multiple people in the video. The developed technique can be further developed as a detection tool in realtime application. © 2020 IEEE.

In this paper, we present the results of a comparative evaluation of the performance of the Players Unknown Battleground (PUBG) Mobile app on iPhone X and Samsung S9 Plus smartphones. The outcome indicates that Samsung S9 Plus performed better than iPhone X as perceived by players of the PUBG mobile game. This finding suggests that the quality of iPhone X for PUBG mobile app play should be enhanced to improve on the experience of its users. © 2020 Mattingley Publishing. All rights reserved.

Cyberbullying is a variation of bullying that involves the use of technology to abuse others. This study examined the relationship between behavioural characteristics and cyberbullying profiles among youngsters. A total of 221 youngsters aged between 15-30 in Malaysia were surveyed, and their raw scores ran through statistical analysis. Findings show that the majority of the participants have never engaged in cyberbullying, but a few of them had experienced cyberbullying. Findings from the survey revealed that the percentages of female participants as cybervictims are higher (63.7%) than male participants (36.3%), while the percentages of male participants as bullies are higher (52.9%) than female participants (47.1%). The most prominent behaviour of cyberbullies is sending mean messages directly to cybervictims and the most prominent behaviour of cybervictims is being excluded from online groups. © 2022 IEEE.

Cyber-attacks are a common issue in this modern era because of the introduction of high-speed networks and the use of new technologies like Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which fuel the rapid expansion of cyber-attack. One of the common cyber-attacks is botnet attacks. Hackers use botnet attacks to exploit newly discovered vulnerabilities in order to conduct intensive scraping, distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, and other large-scale cybercrime. With their adaptable and dynamic character, botnets work with a botmaster to plan their activities, modify their codes, and update the bots regularly to avoid detection. Researchers use numerous techniques to detect the botnet. However, botmasters nowadays have improved due to avoiding security in detection. As the communication can leave traces that allow researchers to detect the botnet's existence, this paper will review 15 related works on botnet detection that utilize machine learning to predict the botnet communication with the command-and-control (C&C or C2) center based on the network traffic log. This paper summarizes the related works based on the dataset, environment, botnet type, features employed, and machine learning techniques. © 2022 IEEE.

The diffusion equation with variable coefficients is widely applied in heat transfer to model the distribution of temperature in materials with spatially varying thermal properties, allowing for accurate simulation of heat conduction in heterogeneous media, accounting for changes in material composition and thermal conductivity. In this work, an effective method for numerically solving the one-dimensional diffusion equation with variable coefficients is presented. This approach utilizes a hybrid method that combines Lucas and Fibonacci polynomials with finite differences to convert the problem into a time-discrete form using the forward finite difference approach. Then, the derivative of the function is estimated using Fibonacci polynomials. The proposed method is applied to both linear and nonlinear one-dimensional problems, and its efficacy is verified by comparing the obtained results with those of alternative methods. The accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed method are demonstrated through comparison with the exact solution and other methods found in the literature.

Data sharing is a process of interchanging data among multiple data sources in a controllable access manner. Successful data sharing of information belong to public depends on public support. Analyzing household electric consumption data and user behaviour profile based on household electricity demand are also vital to enhance energy efficiency in Malaysia. This research used quantitative methodology via survey method. A set of questionnaires was developed to identify the willingness of electricity consumer in Malaysia on sharing their electric energy consumption data and types of incentives preferred. A total of 424 responses were successfully gathered and was analyzed using SPSS software. This survey proves that electricity consumer in Malaysia are willing to share their energy consumption data regardless of demographic profiles, with or without awareness of PDPA and technology that may capture their data. These findings indicate that data sharing related to energy consumption can potentially be successful since statistic shows that the public are willing to share their energy consumption data. The result of this study may help researcher who are planning to develop data sharing platform to increase public willingness to share their energy data. The availability of data sharing platform can assist research community during data gathering process which later can be analyzed to identify areas of improvement to be undertaken by the industry. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

There is an immense amount of information available on the web. In no small part, this wealth of knowledge has challenged scientists continued to search for ways to make the information as easy as possible for end-users. Exploratory quest is transparent and has many characteristics that allow users to find relevant information and to improve their comprehension of the task involved. A comprehensive study is performed on various findings focused on the solutions to the overload issue and has shown that the use of faceted filters minimizes the abundance of information. This paper also discusses information overload and exploratory testing features, such as facial scanning, which can mitigate the effect of clear marine filters. © 2020 IEEE.
