In this study, we aimed to develop LED lighting with an emission spectrum effective for microalgae propagation, and fabricated LED lighting with Phosphor layer RGB, which has peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands, and Phosphor layer RG'B', which has broader peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands. In order to examine the effect of microalgae propagation, Closterium ehrenbergii samples prepared at different dilution rates were irradiated with LED illumination light of Phosphor layer RG'B' and Phosphor layer RGB, respectively, for 7 days, and their propagation rates were compared. The results of the experiment showed that Phosphor layer RG'B' produced a higher propagation rate than Phosphor layer RGB. © 2024 IEEE.

Understanding cellular functions, particularly in their intricate complexity, can greatly benefit from the spatial mapping of diverse molecules through multitarget single-molecule localization microscopy (SMLM). Existing methodologies, primarily restricting the encoding dimensions to color and lifetime or requiring cyclic staining, often involve broad chromatic detection, specialized optical configurations, or sophisticated labeling techniques. Here, we propose a simple approach called buffer-exchange stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (beSTORM), which introduces an additional dimension to differentiate between single molecules irrespective of their spectral properties. This method leverages the distinguishable photoblinking responses to distinct buffer conditions, offering a straightforward yet effective means of fluorophore discrimination. Through buffer exchanges, beSTORM achieves multitarget SMLM imaging with minimal crosstalk. Direct integration with expansion microscopy (ExM) demonstrates its capability to resolve up to six proteins at the molecular level within a single emission color without chromatic aberration. Overall, beSTORM presents a highly compatible imaging platform, promising significant advancements in highly multiplexed nanoscopy for exploring multiple targets in biological systems with nanoscale precision. © 2024 The Authors. The proposed smart system namely VidyaMedic utilizes continuous heart rate monitoring through sensors, with data transmission to the cloud via an IoT platform. Testing was conducted on a 40-year-old male participant who wore the Polar H10 heart rate monitor for 24 days. The heart rate profile captures the circadian rhythm, the natural internal biological clock governing cardiovascular and behavioral processes over a 24-hour cycle, influencing morning, daytime, and nighttime activities. Health conditions can be assessed using an algorithm which calculates the running sum of standard deviation for heart rate data over this period. Initially, standard deviation is computed for each data point, quantifying data dispersion from the mean. Subsequently, the running sum of standard deviation enables the detection of significant changes over time, abrupt fluctuations indicate outliers or extreme values, potentially impacting overall standard deviation and signaling significant data changes. Deviations from the expected or previous standard deviation values, marked by a regression coefficient less than or greater than 1, may suggest cardiac abnormalities or heart rhythm disturbances.

Providing robust prognosis predictions for cancers with limited data samples remains a challenge for precision oncology. In this study, we propose a novel approach that combines multi-task learning (MTL) and graph neural networks (GNNs) to address this issue. By representing gene-gene interactions as a graph network, our approach leverages multi-task learning to effectively capture the relationships of genes relevant to the oncogenesis and progression of breast, lung, and colon cancer. We demonstrate that our approach improves the cancer prognosis prediction for cancers with fewer samples, such as colon adenocarcinoma, by leveraging the shared gene-gene interactions across different cancer types, obtaining increases in the area under the precision-recall curve (AUPRC) of 24%. Our work contributes to the field of smart healthcare by demonstrating the potential of MTL and GNNs for enhancing cancer prognosis prediction, even with limited data samples. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents a programming system for a robot manipulator using a hand-held demonstration tool. In this system, a user holds the self-designed tool to demonstrate a desired motion path, and the robot arm replicates the learned trajectory. The path-demonstration tool, including optical tags (OT) and an IMU, is designed to collect trajectory data from hand motion. Sensor data fusion allows the system to track accurately the demonstrated trajectory. A calibration procedure is proposed to transform the trajectory from tool's coordinate system to robot's coordinate system. A cubic spline-based trajectory planning method is proposed to ensure smooth reproduction of the learned trajectory in both time and space. Experimental results show that the robot is able to replicate squared and curved trajectories collected from the path-demonstration tool. The average position error is within 2.435 mm in XYZ directions and the average orientation error is within 0.65 degrees. © 2024 IEEE.

Automated Generation of Benchmarks for Falsification of STL Specifications

Falsification, whose aim is to detect unsafe behaviors of cyber-physical systems (CPS) that violate signal temporal logic (STL) specifications, has been actively investigated in the past decade. Although numerous falsification approaches have been proposed, the falsification community suffers from a shortage of benchmarks that hinders a thorough assessment of those falsification approaches. In this paper, we bridge this gap by proposing an automated approach for generating falsification benchmarks. Our approach is data-driven: firstly, we generate different time-variant traces (acting as system output traces) that satisfy a given STL specification, and we associate these with corresponding system input traces;then, we use these input and output traces to train an LSTM model that generalizes them. These models can serve as benchmarks for assessing falsification approaches against the given specification. In the experimental evaluation, we validate the generated models by measuring their ability to differentiate the performance of different falsification approaches. Our generated models expose strengths and weaknesses of all the considered falsification approaches, which was not achieved by benchmarks currently used in the falsification community. These results demonstrate the usefulness of our approach and can potentially push forward subsequent research in falsification. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the disinfection effect of Near-UV LED light, which is pulsed using PWM control, on Staphylococcus aureus. To evaluate the disinfection effect of Near-UV LED light, three types of Near-UV LEDs with wavelengths of 395 nm, 385 nm, and 365 nm were installed within a sealed space inside an incubator and energized with a forward current of 1000 mA and a forward voltage of 3.6 V, and the disinfection rate under each type of light was assessed. Additionally, the disinfection effect was evaluated when the same three types of Near-UV LEDs were pulsed with a 50% duty cycle. As a result, 100% disinfection was achieved with 365 nm Near-UV LED direct-current irradiation for 120 seconds, and a 93% disinfection rate was obtained with pulsed irradiation for 150 seconds. © 2024 IEEE.

Breast cancer is an occurrence of cancer that attacks breast tissue and is the most common cancer among women worldwide, affecting one in eight women. In this modern world, breast cancer image classification simplifies the process of analyzing, providing objective and accurate results. By leveraging machine learning algorithms and computer vision techniques, we developed breast cancer detection. The dataset is histopathology dataset from BreakHis and UNHAS Hospital. We chose the ConvNeXt-Tiny model then modified the classifier head as the proposed method. Before the dataset is processed by the model, we augment the images by applying random horizontal and vertical flips, adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, and hue using color jitter. The augmentation process simulates real-world variance and enhances the model's ability to generalize to unseen data. Our proposed model gained better performance (accuracy, F1-Score) results compared two other techniques to VGG16 and SVM. According to our experiments, the F1-Score for the ConvNeXt-Tiny model with classifier head modification is higher at 0.9516, than the gain for VGG16 at 0.9292, and the gain for the SVM at 0.83. © 2024 IEEE.

3D city models are an important cornerstone in the development of digital twin cities, allowing for various analyses and simulations. CityGML, as an open standard for 3D city models, emphasizes five main aspects: scale or level of detail (LoD), semantics, geometry, topology, and appearance. One of the important elements in CityGML 3D city models is representation of vegetation. Vegetation in CityGML, especially individual trees, is still limited in terms of detail and resolution, reducing its effectiveness for specific applications. This paper proposes a graph-based conceptual model for individual trees that conforms to the CityGML v2.0 specification. The model refers to the morphological structure of a tree consisting of roots, trunk, and crown (including branches, twigs, and leaves), and considers the five main aspects of CityGML. By enhancing semantic information and geometric details, the model aims to provide an information-rich and realistic representation of individual trees in a 3D city environment. The 3D tree model created based on this conceptual model may be applicable in the development of digital twin urban forests and virtual forest simulations that utilize immersive technologies such as the metaverse. This research opens up new opportunities in the development of solitary vegetation objects through CityGML ADE by including more detailed semantic and topological information. © Author(s) 2024.

This paper proposes a performance analysis of using a static volt-amp-reactive (VAR) compensator for a three-phase self-excited induction generator (SEIG) operating as a single-phase induction generator. The study proposes appropriate capacitor for building up voltage supplying power to load with static VAR for regulating terminal voltage. The simulation model is analyzed by using MATLAB/Simulink under various conditions such as reactive power supplied, dynamic response, steady state, building up voltage for startup, linear load, non-linear load and harmonics in system. From the study (based on the study, the findings revealed it is found) that using the static VAR compensator connected in parallel with loads for supplying reactive power to the load systems is needed for maintaining terminal voltage. © 2023 IEEE.
