The propagation of a radio signal emitted by a spacecraft through the Earth's ionosphere is considered. The influence of the ionosphere and traveling ionospheric disturbances on the propagation of a radio signal of the decimeter and meter ranges is studied. The following are calculated: deviations of rays from rectilinear propagation, changes in delay time, phase lag, and phase deviation. The total electron concentration and Faraday rotation are calculated in the presence of ionospheric inhomogeneities. The influence of the ionosphere on the absorption of a radio signal, its amplitude, and polarization is analyzed. © 2025 IEEE.

Unsupervised Meteorological Downscaling Based on Dual Learning and Subgrid-scale Auxiliary information

Urban traffic management at pedestrian crossings presents considerable issues, such as pedestrian safety, congestion, and effective prioritizing of emergency vehicles. Traditional traffic signal systems are frequently static, unable to respond to real-time changes in pedestrian flow, vehicle density, and environmental variables. To overcome these issues, an IoT-based adaptive pedestrian crossing system, "IntelliCross,"is presented. The system detects emergency vehicle sirens using sound sensors and automatically adjusts pedestrian signals to green to prioritize emergency vehicle passage, resulting in faster response times and shorter delays. Furthermore, machine learning algorithms alter signal timings based on real-time pedestrian counts and vehicle density, assuring smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Vulnerable pedestrians, such as the elderly and disabled, are accommodated by dynamically extending green light durations to ensure safe crossing. The technology also includes real-time meteorological data, such as rain, to extend green light durations and improve pedestrian safety. IntelliCross, by combining IoT sensors with machine learning, offers a scalable and cost-effective solution for improving urban traffic management, closing crucial gaps in present systems, and contributing to the development of smart cities. Public surveys demonstrate considerable support for systems that prioritize emergency vehicles while also assuring pedestrian safety, proving the system's ability to revolutionize urban traffic infrastructure. © 2025 IEEE.

Orbital angular momentum(OAM) modes provide an additional orthogonal physical dimension, offering transformative potential for enhancing optical communication capacity. Despite significant progress in mode multiplexing, the development of robust communication networks faces persistent challenges, particularly in effectively routing and controlling these multiplexed channels among network nodes. To tackle these dilemmas, we propose a rotatable diffractive neural network(R-DNN) strategy and demonstrate its capability for port-controllable OAM mode routing. By leveraging the correlation between the orthogonal evolution of OAM modes in free space and phase modulations during propagation, the R-DNN precisely shapes the spatial evolution of mode fields through multiple rotatable phase layers, enabling efficient routing to specific output ports. This approach exploits the interaction of secondary wavelets with the relative states of the rotatable layers, allowing on-demand control of mode evolution paths and enhancing routing flexibility. As a proof of concept, we developed a tri-functional router that successfully directs three OAM modes to individually controllable output ports. This router achieves an average intermode crosstalk of less than-16.4 dB across three functional states, one-dimensional, two-dimensional, and cross-connected switching, while supporting the routing of 5.85 Tbit/s quadrature phase-shift keying signals. These results highlight the R-DNN's effectiveness in achieving precise and controllable OAM mode manipulation, paving the way for advanced applications in mode-multiplexed communication networks and beyond.

Cryptography is an essential tool in ensuring the security of data during network communication. Network and service providers prioritize data security to ensure secure data exchanges. Ethiopic cryptography is a unique encryption method that utilizes the Amharic language, prevalent in Ethiopia. Unlike Latin alphabets, Amharic consists of 287 characters, making decryption challenging. The encryption process involves converting the text to Amharic and then mapping it to a pair of randomly chosen two-bit English alphabets, creating an intermediate cipher. The Ethiopic cryptography algorithm employs a hybrid approach, using the RSA algorithm for secure key exchange and the Advanced Encryption Standard algorithm for text confidentiality. The algorithm comprises three phases—translation, mapping, and encryption—contributing to its effectiveness in securing data over the network. Decryption requires familiarity with the Amharic language and mapping details. The algorithm demonstrates a stronger avalanche effect (97%) in comparison with Blowfish and DES. The algorithm is proposed and evaluated using the design science research methodology, and its performance is validated through simulation using MATLAB and BunnaScript tools, considering factors like the avalanche effect, time complexity, and memory consumption. The evaluation shows that the suggested solution operates faster, requires lesser time for data encryption, and uses less memory than other methods in use. Overall, the proposed Ethiopic cryptography algorithm proves to be an efficient and effective method for securing data during network communication, offering stronger text confidentiality and an improved avalanche effect. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Complex networks enable to represent and characterize the interactions between entities in various complex systems which widely exist in the real world and usually generate vast amounts of data about all the elements, their behaviors and interactions over time. The studies concentrating on new network analysis approaches and methodologies are vital because of the diversity and ubiquity of complex networks. The stochastic block model (SBM), based on Bayesian theory, is a statistical network model. SBMs are essential tools for analyzing complex networks since SBMs have the advantages of interpretability, expressiveness, flexibility and generalization. Thus, designing diverse SBMs and their learning algorithms for various networks has become an intensively researched topic in network analysis and data mining. In this article, we review, in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, SBMs for different types of networks (i.e., model extensions), existing methods (including parameter estimation and model selection) for learning optimal SBMs for given networks and SBMs combined with deep learning. Actually, the e-vote could be applied wildly likequestionnaire,***,thecoexistences of efficiency and security as well as transparency and privacy could be considered as building blocks in the e-vote system. The blockchain could provide a public access board to reduce the storagecostsforthefieldconsistedofthevotegroupmanager(GM) with its vote assistants (VA). Particularly the k-times anonymous authentication (k-TAA) could also be a practical approach to pre serve voters’ privacy and reduce the computation costs during the ***,thee-voteschemewithpurek-TAAstrategy could damage either the supervision of voting or the efficiency and consistency of authentication process. What’s more, the impacts of dishonest voters couldn’t be stopped until the vote end. To tackle these problems, we apply the accumulator technology to add or revoke the voters at any time and extend the framework of k-TAA with the update process for the e-vote on blockchain for supervision (k-TEVS). In our scheme, the voter updates his membership witness and proves the fact that he is still a valid member with respective VA under the latest accumulator value. What’s more, this witness update operation is not contained in the authentication process, which means that the authentication process is still constant and efficient. Moreover, our add or delete update process with signature of knowledge needs only one pairing operation. For the security, we prove that the relaxed anonymity still holds in the k-TEVS framework. Finally, We implement k TEVS scheme, the Emura’s work [1] and the Huang’s work [2] for comparison. Then we make time cost and communication cost experiments, which present the feasibility and practicality of this scheme. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

The proposed system for recognizing Myanmar sign language between individuals who are deaf. The aim of this study is to develop deep learning models for the purpose of accurately identifying dynamic hand gesture images depicting 14 classes of Myanmar words and numbers. The present system utilizes a new dataset comprising 7834 images for 14 classes obtained through Webcam. The objective of this study is to enhance the robustness of the new model. Next, we proceed to evaluate the proposed model by comparing them to those of existing convolutional neural network models. These models are generally recognized as effective deep-learning approaches for recognition tasks. The proposed model exhibits a performance level of 96% for both validation and testing accuracies. Furthermore, the experimental finding demonstrates that the model, convolutional layers, achieved an accuracy of 100% in recognizing Myanmar Sign Language (MSL). © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
