In this paper, we propose a wireless transmission system for full specification high definition television. The proposed system employs the next generation wireless system based on IEEE802.11 TGac. It works on 5 GHz band with 80 MHz bandwidth and has throughput over 1.5 Gbps. In this system, a video data is compressed by JPEG 2000 with error resilience tools. These tools improve error performance against wireless channel, and enable very high throughput communication. computer simulation are used to evaluate the bit error performance's influences to the .video quality.

A comparative study on photovoltaic characterizations in crisscrossed-silicon-nanorod (CSNR) solar cells with an n-type-CSNR/intrinsic- CSNR/polycrystalline-silicon/p-type-Si(100)-stacked structure was demonstrated by means of the vaporliquidsolid technique. Results reveal that an improved conversion efficiency of ˜1.66% and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of ˜29% at 690 nm were obtained. The CSNR reflectance was lower than 2% for the 2001100-nm wavelength range. By developing a proper growth time, the CSNR solar cell has a larger EQE. The mechanisms related to excellent light trapping and a larger EQE were mainly due to the CSNR microstructure. © 2009 IEEE.

The Chirp-Scaling Algorithm (CSA) is one of the most widely used synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image reconstruction method. However, its applicability is limited to straight flight trajectories and monostatic SAR. We present a new mathematical treatment of the CSA from the perspective of Fourier Integral Operators theory. Our treatment leads to a chirp-scaling-based true amplitude imaging algorithm, which places the visible edges of the scene at the correct locations and directions with the correct strength. Furthermore, it provides a framework for the extension of the chirp-scaling based approach to non-ideal imaging scenarios as well as other SAR imaging modalities such as bistatic-SAR1 and hitchhiker-SAR.2 © 2009 SPIE.

This paper proposes a common platform called automatic robot toolkit (ART), which offers a message stream dispatch mechanism and system development toolkit for robots. Composing a robotic system requires several heterogeneous components that are different hardware, algorithms and software. Each component is integrated into a well designed robotic system. Those systems are designed based on a particular system and it can be hard to have integration with or within other systems. Nowadays, robotics are more and more complex and intelligent. A common platform could be used to integrate those components according to the object concept. Therefore, the best way is to develop a common platform to integrate the already existing or developing techniques. The proposed common platform offers the message channels for each technique component to subscribe and publish the component's information. The common platform is designed based on the message oriented middleware (MOM) concept which effectively abstracts a multi-channel message transport layer to enable asynchronous exchange of data and event notification. Using this middleware toolkit, one can develop the control, identification, or intelligent algorithms without coding platform constraint.

Robust lane detection is important to the lane departure warning (LDW) for driver assistant system. In this study, lane marks are extracted by searching the lane model parameters in a special defined parameter space without thresholding. The proposed method is based on the lateral inhibition property of human vision system to clear up the edges of lane marks in variant weather conditions; moreover, the lane detected results are verified by the proposed conjugate Gaussian model such that there are no false alarm on the edges of shadow and other vehicles. The proposed lane detection method can gain precise lane-mark information for a lane departure warning system.

This paper presents a novel method to implement an interactive mobile robot. The proposed mobile robot is implemented under the technique of mixed reality. The mixed reality technique is realized by both the Virtools tool and mobile robot. There are three basic interactive behaviors of human beings have been implemented on this proposed mobile robot. There are target navigation behavior, face tracking behavior, and obstacle avoidance behavior; the three behaviors are designed by the fuzzy rules method, respectively. These behaviors lead to the proposed path planning strategy possibly. On the other hand, a novel path planning strategy for a mobile robot is given in this paper. The path planning strategy is according to the experience that the mobile robot has been experienced in target navigation. Experiments show that the proposed behaviors are well designed. With the basic ability of the behaviors, the proposed robot can automatically learn from the previous navigation experience and can optimize the path planning.

During gene expression, transcription factors are unable to bind to a transcription binding site (TFBS) involved in regulation if DNA methylation has occurred at the TFBS. Methyl-CpG-binding proteins may also occupy the TFBS and prevent the functioning of a transcription factor. Thus, the methylation status of CpG sites is an important issue when trying to understand gene regulation and shows strong correlation with the TFBS involved. In addition, CpG islands would seem to undergo cell-specific and tissue-specific methylation. Such differential methylation is presented at numerous genetic loci that are essential for development. Current DNA methylation site prediction tools need to be improved so that they include TFBS features and have greater accuracy in terms of the DNA region that is involved in methylation. We developed models that compare the differences across these regions and tissues. The TFBSs, DNA properties and DNA distribution were used as features for this classification. From the results, we found some TFBSs that were able to discriminate whether a sequence was methylated or not. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy estimated using 10-fold cross validation were 90.8%, 80.54%, and 86.07%, respectively. Thus, for these four regions and twelve tissues, the performance levels (ACC) were all greater than 80%. We propose that the differential features or methylations vary between the different regions because the features common to each DNA region made up only 50% of the top 70 features. Route selection is one of the most important problems for a car navigation system. Given a pair of origin and destination, there are many possible routes. Most current car navigation systems propose the shortest path from the origin to the destination. Selecting the shortest path is not a hard problem, but the shortest path is not always what the user wants; what the user really wants to have is the most comfortable route for him or her to drive. In other words, the driver wants to have a car navigation system to propose the subjectively optimal route for him or her. Finding such a route requires enumerating all the possible routes, and is known as a NP-complete problem. In order to reduce computational complexity, we employed a GA to find a (subjectively) quasi-optimal route for the driver. In the previous paper, we reported our attempt to integrate uncomfortable-turns to our GA-based route selection algorithm. Even though GA provided a quasi-optimal route in most cases and certainly much faster than exhaustive search, we have found that the classical Dijkstra algorithm can be used to find subjectively the most comfortable route by changing the data structure. In this paper, we show how the data structure that represents routes can be modified to assist Dijkstra's algorithm to find subjectively optimal driving route. The numerical experiments demonstrate the feasibility of our route selection based on Dijkstra algorithm with extended data structure.

Grid is one of the currently and most actively developing concepts in the IT community, which nodes can dynamically enter and quit system. So, there are some real problems about nodes membership management in grid environments, especially, when considering asynchronous wide-area networks conditions, where messages may be delayed indefinitely and nodes may fail. Heartbeat detection is one of basic blocks to construct a reliable Grid system. Aim at the highly dynamic characteristics of grid system, a novel heartbeat detection method is designed to solve the Consensus problem and node management according to network changing. The results show that, on the basis of the algorithm implementation failure detector has better performance. Compared to other failure detector, ours is much efficient and dependable.

Recently, selective encoding of scan slices is proposed to compress test data. This encoding technique, unlike many other compression techniques encoding all the bits, only encodes the target-symbol by specifying single bit index and copying group data. In this paper, we propose an extended selective encoding which presents two new techniques: flexible grouping strategy, X bits exploitation and filling strategy. Flexible grouping strategy is able to decrease the number of encoded groups to improve compression ratio. X bits exploitation and filling strategy can exploit a large number of don't care bits to reduce testing power with no compression ratio loss. Experimental results show that the proposed technique needs less test data storage volume and reduces average weighted switching activity by 24.7%, peak weighted switching activity by 11.6% during scan shift compared to selective encoding.
