This paper presents the novel design and synthesis of 44 bit reversible logic based array multiplier. The proposed reversible circuit has the ability to multiply two 4-bits binary numbers which can be generalized for NXN bit. It is also shown that the proposed design technique generates the reversible binary array multiplier with minimum number of gates as well as the minimum number of garbage outputs.

According to recent research, Generalized Quadrature BandPass Sampling (GQBPS) with FIR filtering is promising to deal with the noise aliasing problem in subsampling systems. However, the interesting band of folded spectra by GQBPS with real FIR filtering is still located at the input carrier frequency. In this paper, inherent FIR filtering in GQBPS with real coefficients is transformed such that the interesting band is shifted to a lower frequency. The main advantage of such transformation is to achieve a frequency downconversion besides sampling and dealing with noise aliasing in GQBPS. As a special case of GQBPS, Uniform Quadrature BandPass Sampling (UQBPS) is also discussed including the filter transformation. Both theoretical analyses and simulations are included. It is verified that the expected noise aliasing improvement of GQBPS or UQBPS does not change with the filter transformation. The whole subsampling system with GQBPS or UQBPS might be simplified by using complex filtering.

This paper studies the data weighting affection of rules that derived from different decision tree algorithms. The data that we study is collected from patients with coronary heart disease;it has 1723 records and 71 attributes in each record. The weighting methods we used are system reconstruction method and principle component analysis, from which we get two weighted data sets. The analysis will base on the weighted data sets and the original not weighted data set. The analysis methods we adapted are some decision tree algorithms;they are C4.5, CART, CHAID and Exhausted CHAID. In the analysis, we compare the quantity and quality of rules which are proved correct by medical specialists and clinical doctors. According to the result from experiments, we know that weighted data sets can improve rule quality, which is better than the result from not weighted data set. © 2005 IEEE.

This paper studies how to go beyond relevance and enable a filtering system to learn more interesting and detailed data driven user models from multiple forms of evidence. We carry out a user study using a real time web based personal news filtering system, and collect extensive multiple forms of evidence, including explicit and implicit user feedback. We explore the graphical modeling approach to combine these forms of evidence. To test whether the approach can help us understand the domain better, we use graph structure learning algorithm to derive the causal relationships between different forms of evidence. To test whether the approach can help the system improve the performance, we use the graphical inference algorithms to predict whether a user likes a document based on multiple forms of evidence. The results show that combining multiple forms of evidence using graphical models can help us better understand the filtering problem, improve filtering system performance, and handle various data missing situations naturally. © 2005 Association for Computational Linguistics.

For a growing range of optical measurement task, like gap measurement in automotive industry, traditional triangulation sensors have several disadvantages due to the fact that the measurement result is dependent on the orientation of the sensor because of the non rotational symmetry of the optics. Consequently a design method was proposed in [1] for a new class of rotationally symmetric triangulation sensors. Such designs can be realized with aspheric reflection optics and area detectors, such as CCD or CMOS. The optics of the sensor can be extended by an imaging optics which allows at the same time image capturing and distance measurement. In this paper we show measurement results of the first mockup. This system is based on an optical system of one part manufactured by commercially available diamond turning. The layout of the optical system for distance measurement consists of two reflecting aspheric surfaces. We also present approaches and first results on the algorithm for highly accurate evaluation of the captured data. © 2005 IEEE.

In recent years, Internet-scale worm incidents occurred many times. People wonder at the speediness of the worm spread and the severe damage to the Internet. So people began to find methods to detect worms as quickly as possible. The paper first describes a worm behavior and propagation model. And then based on it, a new approach for early detection of Internet worms is proposed. This approach determines whether a worm incident has occurred by the change of the computers' connection degree. The approach is proved to be effective on early detection of unknown worms by experiments.

This paper presents an analysis of the Slotted DS-CDMA system with modified node components in order to construct a load control structure in which the service rates of each node can be dynamically adapted without using feedback information. In contrast to the traditional Slotted DS-CDMA which is widely represented with single queue, prior emphasis of the approach is laid on the usage of an additional queue which is applied to manage the collided packet traffic while its queue size is also used as a load control parameter. Semi-Markov process is applied to describe the statistic behavior of the system in steady state. Trade-offs between two major performance parameters, i.e., delay and throughput, are presented and compared with those of the traditional system. Results obtained from the simulation and numerical analysis using queuing concept are compared. With these results, an advantage performance for group packets is shown, and we finally extend the concept based on the obtained results to describe a simple algorithm using one way control message as the tool to alleviate the stability problem. The partial projection filter (PTPF) for a given observation operator provides an optimal signal restoration in the presence of both the signal space and observation space noises. However, restoration error by the filter still depends on the observation operator which consists of measurement and sampling processes. In this paper, we determine a sampling operator which minimizes the restoration error by the PTPF. We see that under some assumptions about noise statistics, the restoration error by the PTPF is divided into two terms corresponding to the error arising from the signal space noise and that from the observation space noise. It has been found that although the restoration error due to the signal space noise is independent of the sampling operator, the restoration error arising from the observation space noise can arbitrarily be decreased by increasing the number of sample points in the proposed sampling operator. An illustrative example of optimal sampling in the trigonometric polynomial space is also given. Copyright © 2005 The institute of Electronics, information and Communication engineers.

Many researches have been done on car license plate (CLP) recognition. However, these are no sufficient number of works on Thai CLP. The existing works on Thai CLP have been focused on localization, extraction, and partial recognition (only for upper line) of the license plate. Generally, Thai CLP has 2 lines (upper and lower). The upper line presents character category in 2-position formatted, following by running number (up to 4 digits). The lower line presents province name. Recognition of the lower line is a difficult task because Thai words can be composed of 4 levels (top level, above level, base line and below level). Hence, appearance of noises in the original image easily causes misrecognition. This paper presents an approach to recognize off-line entire Thai CLP using Hausdorff distance technique (HD) for similarity measurement. The recognition rate obtained by the proposed method is 92%
