This letter proposes a secure beamforming design for downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) systems utilizing fluid antenna systems (FAS). We consider a setup where a base station (BS) with M fluid antennas (FAs) communicates to a cell-center user (CU) and a cell-edge user (CEU), each with a FA. The CU is the intended recipient while the CEU is regarded as a potential eavesdropper. Our aim is to maximize the achievable secrecy rate by jointly optimizing the secure beamforming vectors and the positions of FAs. To tackle this, we adopt an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm that optimizes secure beamforming and the positions of the FAs iteratively while keeping the other variables fixed. Numerical results illustrate that when FAs meet NOMA, the proposed scheme greatly enhances the secrecy rate compared to conventional multiple-input single-output (MISO) fixed antenna NOMA systems and other benchmark schemes. © 2024, CC BY.

This paper studies the affine frequency division multiplexing (AFDM)-empowered sparse code multiple access (SCMA) system, referred to as AFDM-SCMA, for supporting massive connectivity in high-mobility environments. First, by placing the sparse codewords on the AFDM chirp subcarriers, the input-output (I/O) relation of AFDM-SCMA systems is presented. Next, we delve into the generalized receiver design, chirp rate selection, and error rate performance of the proposed AFDM-SCMA. The proposed AFDM-SCMA is shown to provide a general framework and subsume the existing OFDM-SCMA as a special case. Third, for efficient transceiver design, we further propose a class of sparse codebooks for simplifying the I/O relation, referred to as I/O relation-inspired codebook design in this paper. Building upon these codebooks, we propose a novel iterative detection and decoding scheme with linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE) estimator for both downlink and uplink channels based on orthogonal approximate message passing principles. Our numerical results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed AFDM-SCMA systems over OFDM-SCMA systems in terms of the error rate performance. In the Internet of Things (IoT) era, the pervasive application of tremendous end devices puts forth an unprecedented demand for data processing. To address this challenge, the end-edge-cloud system has emerged as a solution, where task offloading plays a crucial role in efficiently allocating computing resources. Meanwhile, driven by the growing social awareness of privacy, privacy-aware task offloading methods have attracted significant attention. However, existing privacy-aware task offloading methods face various limitations, such as being applicable to specific scenarios, poor transfer ability of offloading strategies, etc. This paper studies the privacy-aware task offloading problem in the end-edge-cloud system and proposes PATO, a Privacy-Aware Task Offloading strategy. PATO consists of two core modules. Specifically, a novel self-supervised feature mapping module transforms sensitive information via complex unidirectional mapping. Subsequently, a DRL-based decision-making module is trained to utilize transformed information to make task offloading decisions. Subtly combining the self-supervised feature mapping module and the DRL-based decision-making module, the proposed PATO addresses both privacy protection and task offloading challenges. Furthermore, PATO is designed as a general solution for task offloading problems and exhibits good transfer ability.

Aims. Previous studies have related surface temperature maps, obtained with the Doppler imaging (DI) technique, of LQ Hya with long-term photometry. Here, we will compare surface magnetic field maps, obtained with the Zeeman Doppler imaging (ZDI) technique, with contemporaneous photometry, with the aim of quantifying the star's magnetic cycle characteristics. Methods. We inverted Stokes IV spectropolarimetry, obtained with the HARPSpol and ESPaDOnS instruments, into magnetic field and surface brightness maps using a tomographic inversion code that models high signal-to-noise ratio mean line profiles produced by the least squares deconvolution (LSD) technique. The maps were compared against long-term ground-based photometry acquired with the T3 0.40 m Automatic Photoelectric Telescope (APT) at Fairborn Observatory, which offers a proxy for the spot cycle of the star, as well as with chromospheric Ca ii H&K activity derived from the observed spectra. Results. The magnetic field and surface brightness maps reveal similar patterns relative to previous DI and ZDI studies: non-axisymmetric polar magnetic field structure, void of fields at mid-latitudes, and a complex structure in the equatorial regions. There is a weak but clear tendency of the polar structures to be linked with a strong radial field and the equatorial ones with the azimuthal field. We find a polarity reversal in the radial field between 2016 and 2017 that is coincident with a spot minimum seen in the long-term photometry, although the precise relation of chromospheric activity to the spot activity remains complex and unclear. The inverted field strengths cannot be easily related with the observed spottedness, but we find that they are partially connected to the retrieved field complexity. Conclusions. He joined the Naval Applied Science Laboratory in 1961 where he served as project engineer for ship inertial navigation systems (SINS) and related equipments. Since 1967 he has been employed by the Naval Sea Systems Command initially as Navigation and Interior Communications Programs Manager in the Research Directorate and currently as Director Combat Systems Engineering Research and Technology Office in the Combat Systems Directorate. He has been responsible for the development of the Shipboard Data Multiplex System (SDMS) the Electrically Suspended Gyro Navigator (ESGN) the Doppler Sonar Velocity Log (DSVL) and directs other technology programs in the area of command and control and related command support functions. He has directed programs to evaluate foreign data bus and distributed processor technology for potential application to U.S. requirements and is active in a number of U.S. government and foreign government information exchange programs. He has authored numerous technical papers and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers American Society of Naval Engineers and the Institute of Navigation. Richard A. Fastring:graduated from Tulane University with a B.S.E.E. and did graduate work in systems engineering and operations research at the University of Pennsylvania. He joined RCA's surface communications systems engineering staff in 1959 where he contributed to a number of Navy and Air Force communication system programs. Since 1971 he has been with SEMCOR Inc. where he has been involved with the Navy's Shipboard Data Multiplex System (SDMS) and related data transfer programs. The hardwired point to point cabling that has been the mainstay of data handling on naval ships is slowly but surely giving way to more advanced techniques that include data bussing and high speed switching networks. The U.S. Navy's AN/USQ-82(V) Shipboard Data Multiplex system (SDMS) is now installed and operating for technical and operational evaluation purposes on USS Oldendorf , a DD 963 class destroyer. The distributed switching system “SITACS” introduced at ASNE Day 1982 has now been breadboarded. In the foreign arena, NATO standard bus and network interfaces are being implemented in Norwegian, United Kingdom and Canadian shipboard systems. These developments are reviewed, and projections are made regarding future trends in naval data handling systems.

Signal processing has become central to many fields, from coherent optical telecommunications, where it is used to compensate signal impairments, to video image processing. Image processing is particularly important for observational astronomy, medical diagnosis, autonomous driving, big data and artificial intelligence. For these applications, signal processing traditionally has mainly been performed electronically. However these, as well as new applications, particularly those involving real time video image processing, are creating unprecedented demand for ultrahigh performance, including high bandwidth and reduced energy consumption. Here, we demonstrate a photonic signal processor operating at 17 Terabits/s and use it to process video image signals in real-time. The system processes 400,000 video signals concurrently, performing 34 functions simultaneously that are key to object edge detection, edge enhancement and motion blur. As compared with spatial-light devices used for image processing, our system is not only ultra-high speed but highly reconfigurable and programable, able to perform many different functions without any change to the physical hardware. The development of higher education is very rapid rise to the tight competition both public universities and private colleges. XYZ University realized to win the competition, required continuous quality improvement, including the quality of existing service facilities. Amenities quality services is believed to support the success of the learning activities and improve user satisfaction. This study aims to determine the extent to which the quality of the services effect on user satisfaction. The research method used is survey-based questionnaire that measure perception and expectation. The results showed a gap between perception and expectations of the respondents have a negative value for each item. This means XYZ service facility at the university is not currently meet the expectations of society members. Three service facility that has the lowest index is based on the perception of respondents is a laboratory (2.56), computer and multimedia (2.63) as well as wifi network (2.99). The magnitude of the correlation between satisfaction with the quality of service facilities is 0.725 which means a strong and positive relationship. The influence of the quality of service facilities to the satisfaction of the students is 0.525 meaning that the variable quality of the services facility can explain 52.5% of the variable satisfaction. The study provided recommendations for improvements to enhance the quality of services facility at the XYZ university facilities.

DOCTRINAL AUTOMATION IN NAVAL COMBAT systemS - THE EXPERIENCE AND THE FUTURE

作者： GERSH, JR The authoris a principal staff engineer at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory where he supervises the AAW Operations Section of the Combat Direction Group. Since joining JHU/APL in 1980 he has been involved in the specification development and testing of advanced surface combat direction systems specializing in the application of rule-based control mechanisms to command and control problems. In 1985-86 he chaired the Doctrine Working Group of the Naval Sea Systems Command's Combat Direction System Engineering Committee. Mr. Gersh served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1977 as a sonar technician and as a junior officer (engineering and gunnery) aboard Atlantic Fleet frigates and as a member of the U.S. Naval Academy's Electrical Engineering faculty. He was educated at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology receiving S. B. S. M. and E. E. degrees in electrical engineering from the latter. He holds certificates as a commercial pilot and flight instructor and is a member of the U.S. Naval Institute the IEEE Computer Society and the American Association for Artificial Intelligence.

For the last four years the most advanced surface combat direction system (CDS) of the U.S. Navy has employed a limited knowledge-based control mechanism. Implemented in the Aegis Weapon system's command and decision element, this capability is called control by doctrine, and is a foundation for the Ticonderoga class cruisers' exceptional performance. Control by doctrine allows CIC personnel to direct that certain CDS functions be performed automatically upon tracks with specified characteristics. In effect, these CDS functions, from identification to engagement, can now be controlled through the specification and activation of general system response rules rather than by individual operator actions. The set of active rules, called doctrine statements, forms a system knowledge-base. The Advanced Combat Direction system, Block 1, successor to today's Naval Tactical Data system, will also employ control by doctrine. As part of a larger effort investigating Aegis/ACDS commonality issues, a Doctrine Working Group was chartered to consider, among other things, implications for force-wide interoperability of multiple systems with such rule-based control mechanisms. The working group produced a set of design objectives for doctrine statement standardization across CDSs. Principal features of these objectives are described. The prospect of several such ships operating together in a battle group has raised questions as to the methods by which the actions of ships with those doctrinally-automated systems can best be coordinated. Related questions deal with specific design features for the support of such coordinated action. Work is now being carried out to investigate these questions. Combat system automation through doctrine statements is only one kind of rule-based control. Much work in the area of artificial intelligence deals with the use and maintenance of complex systems of rules, usually in non-real-time problem solving applications. Recently, biometric technology has been extensively embedded in mobile devices to enhance security of mobile devices. With rise of financial technology (FinTech) that employs mobile applications as well as devices as promotional platforms, biometrics has a significant role in strengthening the detection of this privacy application. This manuscript offers the design of salp swarm optimization with auto-encoder based biometric authentication (SSOAE-BMA) model for the recognition of abnormal activities in the Fintech banking applications based on wireless communication. The major aim of the SSOAE-BMA model lies in the proper authentication of persons via biometric matching process. Initially, the presented SSOAE-BMA model makes use of stacked ResNet-50 model for deriving feature vectors. Next, the SSOAE-BMA model utilizes AE for biometric verification and the performance of the AE model is adjusted using the Social Spider Optimization (SSO) Algorithm which in turn enhances the recognition outcomes. To demonstrate the improved performance of SSOAE-BMA model, a series of simulations were carried out. The experimental outcomes signified the enhancements of the SSOAE-BMA model over existing models.
