Policy Network-Based Dual-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning for Multi-Resource Task Offloading in Multi-Access Edge Cloud Networks

The Multi-access Edge Cloud(MEC) networks extend cloud computing services and capabilities to the edge of the networks. By bringing computation and storage capabilities closer to end-users and connected devices, MEC networks can support a wide range of applications. MEC networks can also leverage various types of resources, including computation resources, network resources, radio resources,and location-based resources, to provide multidimensional resources for intelligent applications in 5/***, tasks generated by users often consist of multiple subtasks that require different types of resources. It is a challenging problem to offload multiresource task requests to the edge cloud aiming at maximizing benefits due to the heterogeneity of resources provided by devices. To address this issue,we mathematically model the task requests with multiple subtasks. Then, the problem of task offloading of multi-resource task requests is proved to be NP-hard. Furthermore, we propose a novel Dual-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning algorithm with Node First and Link features(NF_L_DA_DRL) based on the policy network, to optimize the benefits generated by offloading multi-resource task requests in MEC networks. Finally, simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the benefit of task offloading with higher resource utilization compared with baseline algorithms.

Multi-band optical networks are a potential technology for increasing network ***,the strong interference and non-uniformity between wavelengths in multi-band optical networks have become a bottleneck restricting the transmission capacity of multi-band optical *** overcome these challenges,it is particularly important to implement optical power optimization targeting wavelength ***,based on the generalized Gaussian noise model,we first formulate an optimization model for the problems of routing,modulation format,wavelength,and power allocation in C+L+S multi-band optical *** objective function is to maximize the average link capacity of the network while ensuring that the Optical Signal-to-Noise(OSNR)threshold of the service request is not ***,we propose a NonLinear Interferenceaware(NLI-aware)routing,modulation format,wavelength,and power allocation ***,we conduct simulations under different test *** simulation results indicate that our algorithm can effectively reduce the blocking probability by 23.5%and improve the average link capacity by 3.78%in C+L+S multi-band optical networks.

This paper proposes a novel method to correct saturated pixels in images. This method is based on the YCbCr color space and separately corrects the chrominance and the luminance of saturated pixels. In this algorithm, the saturated image is processed on the scan line, which is beneficial to the hardware implementation and the correction effect is good. Through the results of the joint simulation of MATLAB and Modelsim, it can be concluded that the hardware algorithm of this paper can use less resources to achieve fast correction. This paper uses Altera DE4 high-level development platform for hardware implementation. The calculation results show that highspeed image and video processing by FPGA is feasible and efficient, and it can be done frame by frame for highdefinition video. It has broad practical application prospects. © 2021, Society for Imaging Science and Technology.

Network monitoring and measurement is an important part of realizing the network digital twin. However, it introduces the problem of high cost when obtaining the status data of physical networks. Therefore, to efficiently achieve network observability, we first introduce potential techniques and network scenarios for implementing network measurements. Then, a High-Yield Segment Routing over IPv6 based In-band Network Telemetry (HY-SRv6-INT) system is proposed in this paper. In particular, we design the HY-SRv6-INT system architecture. It consists of IPv6 switches implemented by the P4 language and a Software-Defined Networking (SDN) controller containing the HY-SRv6-INT application. Next, we experimentally demonstrate a packet-level path-associated network measurement process. In addition, the performance of the HY-SRv6-INT system is also quantitatively evaluated to verify its advantages. Image co-segmentation and co-localization exploit inter-image information to identify and extract foreground objects with a batch mode. However, they remain challenging when confronted with large object variations or complex backgrounds. This paper proposes a multi-view graph embedding (MV-Gem) learning scheme which integrates diversity, robustness and discernibility of object features to alleviate this phenomenon. To encourage the diversity, the deep co-information containing both low-layer general representations and high-layer semantic information is generated to form a multi-view feature pool for comprehensive co-object description. To enhance the robustness, a multi-view adaptive weighted learning is formulated to fuse the deep co-information for feature complementation. To ensure the discernibility, the graph embedding and sparse constraint are embedded into the fusion formulation for feature selection. The former aims to inherit important structures from multiple views, and the latter further selects important features to restrain irrelevant backgrounds. With these techniques, MV-Gem gradually recovers all co-objects through optimization iterations. Extensive experimental results on real-world datasets demonstrate that MV-Gem is capable of locating and delineating co-objects in an image group. © 1991-2012 IEEE.

In the era of booming fifth-generation fixed networks (F5G), the service demands for high bandwidth continue to grow. Meanwhile, in multi-domain network scenarios, service requests are vulnerable to physical layer attacks initiated by malicious clients. In this paper, a risk-aware heuristic algorithm is proposed to address the problem of lightpath provisioning in multi-domain elastic optical data center networks (EODCNs). Simulation results show that the blocking probability of the proposed algorithm is lower than the comparison algorithm, 8.2% and 8.8% lower in NSFNET topology and US-Backbone topology, respectively.

Spectral efficiency is a crucial factor in the survivability of multi-class traffic in elastic optical networks (EONs). In this paper, we propose a spectrum-efficient hybrid protection scheme, namely dedicated path protection (DPP) and shared backup path protection (SBPP), to address the survivability issue in EONs. Meanwhile, we design a survivable routing, modulation level, and spectrum assignment (RMLSA) algorithm to achieve hybrid protection in EONs. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has a lower blocking rate and Spectrum occupation ratio.

With the rise of automated network operations, network telemetry has become increasingly important. Optical networks play a key role in modern communication systems because of their high bandwidth, low latency, and low loss. To better manage and monitor Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) over optical networks, programmable data planes (PDP) are used to achieve flexible data collection. Meanwhile, to solve the scalability problem of the control plane in the software-defined network (SDN), segment routing over IPv6 (SRv6) is introduced. By programming the source node on the path, SRv6 wisely instructs packets to collect the appropriate telemetry data at the segment nodes to balance the trade-off between bandwidth usage and monitoring coverage. To efficiently achieve the observability of IPv6 over optical networks, we model the system and propose an SRv6-based in-band network telemetry (INT) algorithm. Simulation results verify the performance of our algorithm.

Optical networks-on-chips (ONoCs) have emerged as the most promising solution for on-chip interconnection networks, offering distinct advantages such as high bandwidth and low latency. However, traditional wired-based ONoCs often suffer from a high average number of hops, leading to challenges such as increased insertion loss, crosstalk noise, and energy consumption. Therefore, this paper presents a novel ONoC structure known as the metasurface ONoC (MSONoC), which integrates wired waveguide and free-space optical (FSO) transmission with the assistance of metasurfaces. Specifically, this work encompasses the design of a passive metasurface structure tailored for ONoCs, a virtual network cluster partitioning method, an optical metasurface access points select strategy, and a shortest-path routing algorithm. Performance verification is conducted using a modified Noxim simulator. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed MSONoC offers advantages over traditional NoCs, radio frequency (RF)-based hybrid wired/wireless NoCs, and wired-based ONoCs in terms of throughput, delay, energy consumption, and signal-to-noise ratio under both synthetic traffic and real traffic models. These improvements proves the effectiveness of the MSONoC architecture in optimizing network performance, making it a promising solution for high-performance, energy-efficient communication in on-chip networks. © 2017 IEEE.

In remote industrial internet of things (IIoT) monitoring systems, the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) serves as supplementary infrastructure to aggregate data from a large number of distributed sensors, and achieve industrial operation intelligence. In the wireless data aggregation process, using conventional orthogonal multiple access techniques face challenges such as scarce bandwidth, high communication latency and energy consumption. To tackle these issues, the over-the-air computation (AirComp) technique has emerged. It allows concurrent data transmissions from sensors, as well as integrates communication and computation processes, ultimately enabling fast data aggregation. However, the energy consumption issue remains unresolved. In this paper, we exploit spatial correlations among sensor measurements, and design an energy-efficient AirComp in UAV-assisted IIoT networks, where only a subset of sensors transmit data instead of all sensors. Then, we derive a closed-form expression for the mean square error (MSE) of each combination under a specific number of sensor transmissions. By jointly optimizing the UAV deployment and pre-coding coefficients of sensors, we formulate the problem of minimizing MSE for each combination of transmitted sensors. Furthermore, the MSE optimization algorithm is developed to output the average MSE of all combinations. Finally, we evaluate the average MSE and network lifetime performance of proposed scheme. © 2002-2012 IEEE.
