A wrapper feature selection method based on Immune Clonal Algorithm for SVM is presented and applied to 1-D images recognition of radar targets in this paper. In the proposed method, the cross-validation is used for feature evaluation in wrapper feature selection step for SVMs. And Immune Clonal Algorithm, which is characterized by rapid convergence to global optimal solution, is applied to find the optimal feature subset. Experimental results on 1-D images of 3 airplanes obtained in a microwave anechoic chamber show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A Direct-Path Interference Cancellation Approach to Passive radar Based on Adaptive Fractional Delay Estimation

Target detection by non-cooperative illuminator is a study hotspot in electronic warfare field, with'four countering' potential advantages for passive radar. One of the major problems in continuous wave bistatic radar is Direct path interference (DPI). Conventional solutions to this problem is the use of an adaptive antenna, steering null towards the interference. Unfortunately the null depth obtained by this technology is not enough for surveillance radar. First of all, DPI appeared in passive radar based on non-cooperative FM broadcast transmitter is analyzed in this paper. Secondly, a DPI cancellation based on Adaptive fractional delay estimation (AFDE) is in detail introduced how to deal with this problem. Finally, a passive radar experimental system based on non-cooperative FM broadcast transmitter is provided, simulation results by real collected data show applying the method proposed in this paper is effective in suppression DPI.

Existing algorithms for packet classification always deal with a ready rule set. However, now a day, large classifiers' rule sets are huger and huger (say, 100 000 rules). Generated these rules by hand is so hard, and causes lots of redundant rules. In this paper, we present a two stage cluster based algorithm for packet classification, which aims to generate niter rules automatically for permitted packets. Based on the scheme, a three-field packet classification for permitted packets (sev-address, sev-port and protocol) is proposed. Experimental results show that the scheme can significantly reduce needed filter rules for permitted packets and the range of IP address lookup. © 2007 IEEE.

Based on the property of Human vision system (HVS) that human eye's sensitivity to an image varies with different information regions of the image, Pulse-coupled neural network (PCNN) model is modified for image segmentation. The modified PCNN stimulated by an input image has pulse output with multiple pulse values rather than only two in the conventional PCNN, according to the local information rate of the input image. This results in image segmentation according to local information rate delivered from the image by the modified PCNN. Experiments with the modified PCNN on image segmentation and image compression on the segmented images with the principle that the lower information rate is, the higher compression rate is applied, show much better performance in compression rate compared with that on the segmented images with the conventional PCNN.

Image matching is the first step in almost any 3D computer vision task, and hence has received extensive attention. In this paper, the problem is addressed from a novel perspective, which is different from the classic stereo matching paradigm. Two images with different resolutions, that is high resolution versus low resolution are matched. Since the high resolution image only corresponds to a small region of the low resolution one, the matching task therefore consists in finding a small region in the low resolution image that can be assigned to the whole high resolution image under the plane similarity transformation, which can be defined by the local area correlation coefficient to match the interest points and rectified by similarity transform. Experiment shows that our matching algorithm can be used for scale changing up to a factor of 6. And it is successful to deal with the point matching between two images under large scale.

In this paper, a technique for the extraction of roads in a high resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image is presented. And a three-step method is developed for the extraction of road network from space borne SAR image: the process of the feature points, road candidate detection and connection. Roads in a high resolution SAR image can be modeled as a homogeneous dark area bounded by two parallel boundaries. Dark areas, which represent the candidate positions for roads, are extracted from the image by a Gaussian probability iteration segmentation. Possible road candidates are further processed using the morphological operators. And the roads are accurately detected by Hough Transform, and the extraction of lines is achieved by searching the peak values in Hough Space. In this process, to detect roads more accurately, post-processing, including noisy dark regions removal and false roads removal is performed. At last, Road candidate connection is carried out hierarchically according to road established models. Finally, the main road network is established from the SAR image successfully. As an example, using the ERS-2SAR image data, automatic detection of main road network in Shanghai Pudong area is presented.

One basic observation for pedestrian detection in video sequences is that both appearance and motion information are important to model the moving people. Based on this observation, we propose a new kind of features, 3D Haar-like (3DHaar) features. Motivated by the success of Haarlike features in image based face detection and differential-frame based pedestrian detection, we naturally extend this feature by defining seven types of volume filters in 3D space, instead of using rectangle filter in 2D space. The advantage is that it can not only represent pedestrian's appearance, but also capture the motion information. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we combine the 3DHaar with support vector machine (SVM) for pedestrian detection. Our experiments demonstrate the 3DHaar are more effective for video based pedestrian detection. © 2007 IEEE.

The estimation of basis shapes, the partition of image and the optimization of geometric flows are three key issues in the implementation of the second Bandelets proposed by peyer. Compared with other polynomial geometric flows, linear geometric flows are commonly used because of its simplest structure and least parameters to store. However, the actual structure of edges and contours can only be considered as lines in a local region. So the size of partition blocks should be small so as to the geometric regularities in each block can be approximated as linear. The geometric regularities mainly appear in the high frequency subbands of images, so in this paper we proposed a multi-scale Bandelet transform based on complete wavelet packet decomposition. And a fixed size of image partition is employed in each high frequency subbands. In relative to the second generation Bandelet, it has quick implementation and comparable performance.

In this paper, a new contourlet packet (CP) is constructed based on a complete wavelet quadtree followed by a nonsubsampled directional filter bank (NSDFB). By combing the finer approximation characteristic of wavelet packet with the invertible characteristic of NSDFB, the proposed CP can give more accurate reconstruction of images than WP. After the proposed CP transform on the fusing images, the low-frequency subbands are compared to preserve the coefficients whose module are minimum, local inner-product rule is performed on the high-frequency subbands of the images. Then the fusion image can be obtained by taking an inverse CP transform. The experiment results show the superiority of the method to Contourlet, Wavelet packet, NSCT, stationary Wavelet, complex wavelet and WBCP based fusion methods, both in image clarity and standard deviation, information entropy, average gradient, average cross

A class of overlapped multiplexing techniques is presented in this paper, and it includes overlapped time division multiplexing (OVTDM), overlapped frequency division multiplexing (OVFDM) and overlapped timefrequency division multiplexing (OVTFDM). This paper focus on OVTDM, and this new technique can implement transmission with super-high spectral efficiency only by low order modulated signals, and its feature is that there is overlapping between neighbor signals in time domain,which is used to raise the spectral efficiency of the system and generate the coding constraint relationship, thus improving transmission reliability. The theory of OVFDM and OVTFDM is similar to it. Simulation results verify the validity of this theory in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel and multipath fading channel.
