In this paper, we study the task of hallucinating an authentic high-resolution (HR) face from an occluded thumbnail. We propose a multi-stage Progressive Upsampling and Inpainting Generative Adversarial Network, dubbed Pro-UIGAN, which exploits facial geometry priors to replenish and upsample (8×) the occluded and tiny faces (16×16 pixels). Pro-UIGAN iteratively (1) estimates facial geometry priors for low-resolution (LR) faces and (2) acquires non-occluded HR face images under the guidance of the estimated priors. Our multi-stage hallucination network upsamples and inpaints occluded LR faces via a coarse-to-fine fashion, significantly reducing undesirable artifacts and blurriness. Specifically, we design a novel cross-modal attention module for facial priors estimation, in which an input face and its landmark features are formulated as queries and keys, respectively. Such a design encourages joint feature learning across the input facial and landmark features, and deep feature correspondences will be discovered by attention. Thus, facial appearance features and facial geometry priors are learned in a mutually beneficial manner. Extensive experiments show that our Pro-UIGAN attains visually pleasing completed HR faces, thus facilitating downstream tasks, i.e., face alignment, face parsing, face recognition as well as expression classification. Performance analysis of intelligent reflecting surface assisted NOMA networks

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a promising technology to enhance the coverage and performance of wireless networks. We consider the application of IRS to non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), where a base station transmits superposed signals to multiple users by the virtue of an IRS. The performance of an IRS-assisted NOMA networks with imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect successive interference cancellation (pSIC) is investigated by invoking 1-bit coding scheme. In particular, we derive new exact and asymptotic expressions for both outage probability and ergodic rate of the mth user with ipSIC/pSIC. Based on analytical results, the diversity order of the m-th user with pSIC is in connection with the number of reflecting elements and channel ordering. The high signal-to-noise radio (SNR) slope of ergodic rate for the m-th user is obtained. The throughput and energy efficiency of nonorthogonal users for IRS-NOMA are discussed both in delaylimited and delay-tolerant transmission modes. Additionally, we derive new exact expressions of outage probability and ergodic rate for IRS-assisted orthogonal multiple access (IRS-OMA). Numerical results are presented to substantiate our analyses and demonstrate that: i) The outage behaviors of IRS-NOMA are superior to that of IRS-OMA and relaying schemes;ii) With increasing the number of reflecting elements, IRS-NOMA is capable of achieving enhanced outage performance;and iii) The M-th user has a larger ergodic rate compared to IRS-OMA and benchmarks. A hybrid correction framework using disentangled seasonal-trend representations and MoE for NWP solar irradiance forecast

Day-ahead solar irradiance forecast holds important value for optimizing energy utilization within the power system and ensuring stable grid scheduling. The forecast outputs of numerical weather prediction (NWP) are widely acknowledged as one of the indispensable data sources for day-ahead solar irradiance forecast tasks. In previous studies, post-processing methods have generally been employed as correction models to enhance the accuracy of NWP solar irradiance forecasts. However, irradiance sequences contain complex mixed patterns and exhibit various seasonal periodic differences. Based on the analysis of NWP global horizontal irradiance (GHI) error characteristics in this study, errors in NWP GHI forecasts also show obvious seasonal variations. Given these issues, it is challenging for a single correction model to achieve good correction performance and strong seasonal robustness. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid model comprising representation learning module, feature sparse activation module, and encoder-decoder-based correction module to address the aforementioned problems. A contrastive-learning-based representation learning module named CoST is introduced to learn disentangled seasonal features and trend features of irradiance sequences. A learnable mixture-of-experts (MoE) layer is adopted to sparsely activate the seasonal-trend features that contribute more to improving correction accuracy. The encoder-decoder-based correction module takes the sparsely activated seasonal-trend features as inputs, achieving the final corrected NWP GHI forecasts. The correction performance of the proposed method was validated on both publicly available datasets and actual field dataset. The results for various datasets show that our proposed CoST-MoELSTM model achieves the highest improvement for NWP forecasts, with increases of 29.82 %, 36.54 %, and 26.58 %. The development of Cu ion-exchanged small-pore zeolites with excellent performance and high hydrothermal stability in NH3-SCR reaction is of great importance. However, many frameworks of the small-pore zeolites are Al-rich, for instance, Cu-SSZ-16 zeolite with Si/Al ratio always no more than 5, showing relatively low hydrothermal stability. In this work, inspired by theoretical calculation for the interaction between organic structural directing agents (OSDAs) and zeolite framework, high silica SSZ-16 zeolite with Si/Al ratio at 6.7 was directly synthesized using an economical diquaternary alkylammonium cation as an OSDA. After exchanged with Cu ion, the Cu-SSZ-16 catalyst shows extraordinarily superior performance in NH3-SCR reaction even after hydrothermal aging at 900 °C. The designed synthesis combined with excellent performance as well as high hydrothermal stability of the high silica SSZ-16 zeolite might provide an attractive alternative candidate for NH3-SCR catalyst on diesel vehicles and non-road mobile machinery in the future. © 2023, The Authors. Many accidents now take place due to over-speed, drowsiness and drunken drivers. Statistics show that every four minutes people die in 2017 because of traffic crashes and thousands of accidents in India, which are higher in numbers than any other accidents, where people have died. But in the case of rescue indicators their lives may have been spared. We are also going to incorporate our thoughts on steps to mitigate the crash and precautionary measures. This proposal immediately identifies the precise location of the crash by GPS and allows GSM to transmit the data to the nearest rescue car, the police department and the individual’s family members. Accident can be detected by the accelerometer sensor and accident magnitude can be detected by the tilt sensor. The tilt angle of the chassis can be monitored. The driver’s sleepiness can be detected with a DMD. The driver’s somnolence is sensed and the driver is alerted by alarm by calculating the percentage of eyelid closing over the period. Through this tool, the speed of a car can be measured, who is responsible for the crash and the direction of GPS can be seen with the mobile theft detection program. Both data can be analyzed using the sensor value in a microcontroller and sent to the cloud site. The main benefits of the device are cost efficient, stable and victim-friendly, fast savings in energy usage, greater precision, time efficiency and the risk of human error are reduced.

Subpixel localization techniques for estimating the positions of point-like images captured by pixelated image sensors have been widely used in diverse optical measurement fields. With unavoidable imaging noise, there is a precision limit(PL) when estimating the target positions on image sensors, which depends on the detected photon count, noise, point spread function(PSF) radius, and PSF's intra-pixel *** studies have clearly reported the effects of the first three parameters on the PL but have neglected the intra-pixel position information. Here, we develop a localization PL analysis framework for revealing the effect of the intra-pixel position of small PSFs. To accurately estimate the PL in practical applications, we provide effective PSF(e PSF) modeling approaches and apply the Cramér–Rao lower bound. Based on the characteristics of small PSFs, we first derive simplified equations for finding the best PL and the best intra-pixel region for an arbitrary small PSF; we then verify these equations on real PSFs. Next, we use the typical Gaussian PSF to perform a further analysis and find that the final optimum of the PL is achieved at the pixel boundaries when the Gaussian radius is as small as possible, indicating that the optimum is ultimately limited by light diffraction. Finally, we apply the maximum likelihood method. Its combination with e PSF modeling allows us to successfully reach the PL in experiments, making the above theoretical analysis effective. This work provides a new perspective on combining image sensor position control with PSF engineering to make full use of information theory, thereby paving the way for thoroughly understanding and achieving the final optimum of the PL in optical localization.

An accurate assessment of the quality of English classroom instruction is essential for moving English education reform forward while also raising English education standards in Chinese colleges. A comparison model for evaluating the quality of English classroom teaching is built using SVM-LM (Support vector machine-Learning Machine) model together with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The SVM-LM approach reduces the need for experiment samples while enhancing model fit because fewer hidden layer neurons are required for accuracy. According to results from experiments, utilizing the SVM- LM algorithm to assess English classroom instruction is a realistic option. Consequently, the study created English classroom teaching effectiveness index system has been successful and is intended to increase the standard of English language classroom instruction as well as how it is administered. The study results proved that the proposed algorithm works better than PSO.

Preferred Hierarchical control Strategy of Non-Point Source Pollution at Regional Scale

Non-point source (NPS) pollution has wide range of sources. Under rainfall conditions, NPS pollution occurs mainly by overland flow, resulting in difficult governance. In this study, based on the cooperative analysis of critical periods (CPs) and critical source areas (CSAs), a preferred hierarchical control strategy of NPS pollution, which was connected with management units, was proposed in the Danjiangkou Reservoir Basin (DRB) to improve the pertinence of NPS pollution control. The practicality of the grid-based CSA identification results was improved by point density analysis (PDA). CPs, sub-CPs, and non-CPs were identified on the temporal scale;CSAs, sub-CSAs and non-CSAs were identified on the spatial scale. The results showed that CPs (July, April, and September), sub-CPs (May, March, and August), and non-CPs contributed 62.8%, 31.1%, and 6.1% of the annual TP loads, respectively. Furthermore, we proposed a hierarchical NPS pollution control strategy: class Ⅰ (CSAs in CPs) → class II (sub-CSAs in CPs, CSAs in sub-CPs) → class III (non-CPs, non-CSAs, sub- and non-CSAs in sub-CPs). Class Ⅰ covered the periods and areas with the highest NPS pollution loads, contributing 26.2% of the annual load within 14.5% of the area and 25.0% of the time. This study provides a reference for the targeted control of NPS pollution at regional scale, especially in environmental protection with limited funds. © 2021, CC BY.

Research and Development Status of Magnetic Bearing technology on Magnetically Suspended Gimballing Flywheel

The current research and future development of the magnetically suspended gimballing flywheel (MSGFW) and high-precision magnetic bearing are expounded. According to the rotor levitation force, MSGFW can be classified as the magnetic resistance force configuration, Lorentz force configuration and hybrid force configuration. Based on the three types of the flywheel configurations above, the development process of MSGFW is discussed. On the basis, the spherical magnetic resistance magnetic bearing and Lorentz magnetic bearing are introduced in detail. Their operating principles are analyzed through using the magnetic circuit maps. The advantages and disadvantages of the magnetic bearings of the same type are compared. Finally, the developing prospect of MSGFW and high-precision magnetic bearing are expected. It points out that the high dynamic response translation spherical magnetic bearing with collocation between detection and control, the standard magnetically suspended momentum sphere and the magnetically suspended control & sensitive sphere will be the primary research directions of MSGFW. © 2019, Editorial Dept. of JA.
