Reliable tracking of objects is an inevitable prerequisite for automated video surveillance systems. As most object detection methods, which are based on machine learning, require adequate data for the application scenario, foreground segmentation is a popular method to find possible regions of interest. These usually require a specific learning phase and adaptation over time. In this work we will present a novel approach based on graph cuts, which outperforms most standard algorithms. It is commonly agreed that occlusions can only be resolved in multi camera environments. Applying multi layer homography will enable us to robustly detect and track objects applying only foreground data, resulting in a high tracking performance.

3D measurement technology based on gray coding light by combining gray code with trapezoidal phase shift

An 3D measurement scheme by combining Gray code with Trapezoidal phase-shift is presented. The scheme computes the relative intensity ratios in a Trapezoidal phase-shift period using Trapezoidal phase-shift pattern. Combining the Trapezoidal phase-shift with Gray code corresponding to sampling point, and the absolute intensity ratio of sampling point is determined. Then, 3D measurement is realized using projection geometry matrix model. Encoding and decoding principles by combining Gray code with Trapezoidal phase-shift are presented;period dislocation between Gray code and Trapezoidal phase-shift in course of decoding is analyzed, which could be corrected by judging the consistency between Gray code value increasing and phase mutation of adjacent pixels. Finally, simulation and real system were experimented. The experimental results indicate that relative measurement error of simulation system is about 0.0325% and that of real system is less than 4.0329%.

An on-board computer (OBC) is the brain of any satellite. In this paper we discuss the design of an on-board computer system for micro satellite; the design technologies for large commercial satellites cannot be directly used for the micro satellite due to the compactness of OBC. This equipment monitors and auto control pressure, temperature, direction, all the telemetry equipments, the communication channel transmission and receiving between satellite and terrestrial stations. It is generally a very expensive device, with cost amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Our design for general purpose and adaptable OBC, for use in general as low-earth-orbit (LEO) microsatellites. Our system is economical system and compatible with a small size satellite the hardware and software design of this OBC is based upon open and flexible design architecture. The idea is that the design can be used in or adapted for a variety of small LEO micro-satellites with minimal modifications. Keeping these goals in view, a complete architecture of the OBC has been discussed and developed. The design is based on the Intel X86 microprocessor technology. Instructions set, addressing modes, interrupts, in and out and digital and analog interfaces. In addition, the features of on-board computer hardware and operating system are presented. Also the memory subsystem error log is discussed.

During the last years the method of the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy has been intensively developed. It is the most powerful electrochemical method, because of it unique ability to investigate the structure and the properties of the objects in a wide frequency range. The Capacitive Impedance Spectroscopy (CIS) is of special interest. The further development of this principle is given in the current work. It gives an opportunity to investigate the electric properties of different kinds of materials. A special measuring system is developed for this purpose. A modern computer techniques with a special data analyze software is also described.

Predictively encoded techniques are commonly used for lossless compression of images for its effectiveness of removing statistical redundancy between pixels. However, there can be large prediction errors for pixels around boundaries. In this paper, we introduce techniques commonly used in control systems to enhance the coding efficiency of predictive coding. Actually, the predictive coding system behaves just like a multi-input single-output system with the predictor itself can be taken as the system model. When compared with the purpose of a control system, which is to follow the system command as precisely as possible, we find the objective of both systems are the same. Moreover, an edge or a boundary among image pixels can be regarded as a step command in control systems. These observations lead to the idea of using control technologies to improve prediction result for pixels around boundaries. To realize this idea, we use an adaptive Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy neural network (TS-FNN) as the predictor. Furthermore, the widely used proportional controller in control system is implemented implicitly in the consequent part of the network so that the prediction error can be further compensated for pixels around boundaries. We find in experiments that the proposed approach can have a very good prediction result even without using any online training area for network adaptation process. This makes the proposed system more feasible under limited resources. Finally, comparisons to existing state-of-the-art lossless predictors and coders will be given to highlight the advantages of the proposed novel approach.

In this paper,we aim at improving the video quality degradation due to high motions or scene changes. An improved frame-layer bit allocation scheme for H.264/AVC rate control is ***,current frame is pre-encoded in 16×16 modes with a fixed quantization parameter(QP).The frame coding complexity is then measured based on the resulting bits and peak signal-to-ratio(PSNR) in the pre-coding ***,a bit budget is calculated for current frame according to its coding complexity and inter-frame PSNR fluctuation,combined with the buffer *** results show that,in comparison with the H.264 adopted rate control scheme, our method is more efficient to suppress the sharp PSNR drops caused by high motions and scene *** visual quality variations in a sequence are also relieved.

Generally, the inevitable problems in the fuzzy logic-PID (FLPID) control design are the trial and error of the setting of scale factors, membership functions and control rules. To solve these problems, this paper proposes the optimal FLPID controller design using bee colony optimization (BCO) for the load frequency control in the microgrid system. The considered microgrid is the hybrid wind-diesel isolated system. The BCO is applied to automatically optimize the FLPID controllers of governor in the diesel side and blade pitch control in the wind side. Simulation studies show the superior robustness of the optimal FLPID against system parameters variation in comparison with the optimal PID controller and the non-optimal FLPID controller.

In this paper an over-complete discrete wavelet transform (OCDWT) algorithm, obtained by blending two wavelet transform implementations that is redundant wavelet transform and the Mallat's multiresolution decomposition, has been proposed to retrieve the time-varying characteristics of HRV under two different postures, supine and standing. The OCDWT algorithm is critically sub-sampled to a given level of decomposition, below which it is then fully sampled. Five subjects were included to investigate posture-related HRV. The results showed that the high frequency fluctuations are larger in supine and get significantly reduced in standing in comparison to low frequency variations. Moreover, the very low frequency heart beat fluctuations during supine were greater than during standing. Further a comparative analysis has also been made between the Mallat's and OCDWT implementation in order to show the superiority of proposed algorithm.

Recently, in the smartcard-based authentication system, there is an increasing trend of using fingerprint for the card holder verification, instead of passwords. However, the security of the fingerprint data is particularly important as the possible compromise of the data will be permanent. To protect the fingerprint data, techniques such as "fuzzy vault" which is based on the difficulty of the polynomial reconstruction need to be developed for the smartcard-based environment. In this paper, we propose a secure and efficient approach which reconstructs a polynomial on a smartcard with the aid of a server by using fuzzy fingerprint vault distributed into the smartcard and the server. Based on the experimental results, we confirmed that our secret sharingbased approach can perform the fuzzy vault-based fingerprint verification more securely (by a factor of'300) and quickly (by a factor of 17) on a combination of a smartcard and a server.

Wireless body sensor network is employed into the coal mine rescue system. We present a multi-objective optimization methodology for self-organizing, adaptive wireless sensor network design and energy management, taking into consideration application-specific requirements, communication constraints and energy-conservation characteristics. We use genetic algorithm as the optimization tool. Simulation results show that this method can optimize the power management obviously to improve the network load balance, without lacking of network characteristics that are required by the coal mine rescue system.
