Increasing demand for improved reliability and survivability of mission-critical systems is driving the development of health monitoring and Automated Contingency Management (ACM) systems. An ACM system is expected to adapt autonomously to fault conditions with the goal of still achieving mission objectives by allowing some degradation in system performance within permissible limits. ACM performance depends on supporting technologies like sensors and anomaly detection, diagnostic/prognostic and reasoning algorithms. This paper presents the development of a generic prototype test bench software framework for developing and validating ACM systems for advanced propulsion systems called the Propulsion ACM (PACM) Test Bench. The architecture has been implemented for a Monopropellant Propulsion System (MPS) to demonstrate the validity of the approach. A Simulink model of the MPS has been developed along with a fault injection module. It has been shown that the ACM system is capable of mitigating the failures by searching for an optimal strategy. Furthermore, few relevant experiments have been presented to show proof of concepts.

In this paper, we analyzed and verified possibility and validity of overcoming present limitations of humanoid robot by using morphological and neurological analysis of human arm. Through design, implementation and performance evaluation of humanoid robot arm, we will be verifying applicability and effectiveness of humanoid robot arm system based on SERCOS network that fulfills the concept of opening, networking and modularizations that are progressive direction of future robot.

This paper considers the general filtering problem for a distinct class of two-dimensional (2-D) discrete linear systems, i.e. information propagation in two independent directions, known as discrete linear repetitive processes which are of both system-theoretic and applications interest. In particular, new results on the design of filters with guaranteed levels of performance are developed. These take the form of algorithms for the design of an H infin and l 2 -l infin dynamic output feedback filter which guarantees that the resulting filtering error process is stable and has prescribed disturbance attenuation performance as measured by H infin and l 2 -l infin norms.

Image restoration phase-filtering lateral superresolution confocal microscopy, a new approach, is proposed to achieve lateral superresolution using a confoeal microscope. This approach uses a lateral superresolution pupil filter to preliminarily improve its lateral resolution and uses a siagle-image superresolution restoration technique based on a maximum likelihood estimate to further improve its lateral resolution. The new approach has the advantages of a low cost and the remarkable superresolution effect without excessive system complexity. Experiments indicate that the proposed approach can improve the lateral resolution of a confocal microscope from 0.3μm to less than 0.1 μm when λ = 632.8 nm and NA=0.85.

Signal averaging method is usually utilized for extracting the characteristics of event related potentials (ERPs). However, the amplitude and duration of ERPs are not constant for each stimulus due to the fluctuation of the subject's state, accordingly the appropriate selection of available data is crucial for realizing the accurate averaging. Independent component analysis (ICA) is one of powerful tool for signal processing, and some application to analyze the neurological signal processing such as electroencephalogram (EEG), evoked potentials (EPs), ERPs and so on were done. In this study, ICA was applied to process the visual mismatch negativity (V-MMN) for extracting the features and for selecting the appropriate single trial data for averaging. From the grand average waveform of V-MMN, signal separation matrix was determined by use of ICA. Characteristic parameters for evaluating single trial data were calculated from the decomposed components of ERPs. Then, the available single trial data was selected based on the value of evaluation parameter. Waveforms of selective averaging method and conventional averaging method were compared and the effectiveness of the proposed method was examined.

Three kinds of methods for processing the data of the multi-wavelength pyrometer are presented in this paper and are named curve auto-search method, curve auto-regression method and neural network method. Tbe experimental results indicate that the calculated temperature and the spectral emissivity compared with the true target temperature and spectral emissivity have significant deviation using the curve auto-search and the curve auto-regression methods. However, the calculated temperature and the spectral emissivity with higher accuracy can be obtained using the neural network method.

To better identify the objects in remote sensing images, the multispectral images with high spectral resolution and low spatial resolution, and the panchromatic images with high spatial resolution and low spectral resolution need to be fused. Many fusion techniques are discussed in the recent years to obtain images with high spectral resolution and also high spatial resolution. In this paper an image fusion technique, based on integrating both the Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) and the Discrete Wavelet Frame Transform (DWFT), is proposed for boosting the quality of remote sensing images. A panchromatic and multispectral image from Landsat-7(ETM+) satellite has been fused using this new approach. Experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the spectral and spatial qualities of the fused images. Moreover, when this technique is applied to noisy and de-noised remote sensing images it can preserve the quality of the fused images. Comparison analyses between different fusion techniques are also presented and show that the proposed technique outperforms the other techniques.
