We first propose a simple and efficient multicast partitioning protocol, called Lookback protocol, for employment in an asynchronous WDM single optical star network. Network nodes use random access schemes to send reservation packets over a dedicated packet reservation channel. A central traffic scheduler is allocated to coordinate message transmissions. It executes the Look-back scheduling scheme in real time by searching (back into the input queue) for a candidate multicast message that can be received by all of the intended recipients. Such an approach effectively reduces the head-of-line blocking effects. Performance results conducted via simulations have shown that networks employing such scheduling, mechanisms can exhibit superior network throughput levels and delay performances. To apply this mechanism to a wider range of networking environments, we further consider an inlet-connected dual-star architecture and propose the Modified Lookback (Mlookback) mechanism. By using a simple heuristic approach, the Mlookback scheme is able to successfully, exploit the inter-data channels and properly utilize the wavelength reuse property of the intra-data channels. Performance results have demonstrated the merits of deploying the underlying Mlookback multicast algorithm in such a dual-star structure.

This paper addresses the control method of one linear actuator hopping robot in a plane by using feedback error learning scheme. Adaptive fuzzy network was used in this scheme, and backpropagation techniques utilized as learning algorithm. The robot consists of a body and a leg, which are in contact with a sufficiently wide horizontal ground; both are fixed rigidly. We consider utilizing the starting time of actuation of actuator - when the robot is in stance phase - to control the gait. By simulation, continuous hopping gait was realized.

Space-time block codes (STBC) can obtain full transmit diversity gain in a slow-fading environment. But it is not the case for STBC in a fast-fading channel where the estimator can not trace the channel variation instantaneously. This will cause decoding in error and hence the system performance is degraded. In this paper, we evaluate the performance degradation in a Doppler spread channel by computer simulation. Finally, we propose linear interpolation to trace the channel variation, and the performance can then be improved.

Hyperspectral data fusion technique is the focus of hyperspectral data processing in recent years. Many fusion methods have been proposed, but little research work has been done to evaluate the performances of different data fusion methods. In order to meet the urgent need, a new method called quantitative correlation analysis is proposed in this paper. With this method, the performances of different fusion methods can be compared and analyzed directly based on the data of before and after the data fusion take place. The experiment results show that the new method is effective and the comparative results conform to the application results.

In this paper, a nonsingular terminal sliding mode concept is introduced for the control of a class of nonlinear dynamical systems. This nonsingular terminal sliding mode control not only enables the £nite time convergence of the system equilibrium, but also eliminates the singularity problem associated with conventional terminal sliding mode control. Simulations are presented to show the effectiveness of the design.

Firstly, this paper describes the structure, measuring theory and characteristics of a new kind of coordinate measuring machine (CMM) using parallel-link mechanism with three spatial degrees of freedom (3-DOF). Then, the measuring model of it is established according to the theory of spatial mechanics, and the workspace of the probe is calculated and verified by computer simulation. Finally, the virtual prototype of the new CMM is studied by using the graphics functions in OpenGL graphics library based on Windows 98 and Visual C++ 6.0. This research lays the foundation for manufacturing the real prototype of the parallel-link CMM.
