This paper proposes a circuit configuration for the realization of a four-terminal floating nullor (FTFN) with electronically tunable current gain. It mainly consists of an op amp in input together with two complementary current mirrors with controlled gain and two standard improved Wilson (1990) current mirrors. The validity of the performance of the scheme is verified through PSPICE simulation results. Some example applications in the design of the proposed tunable FTFN as a tunable active element show that the circuit properties can he varied by electronic means are also included.

This paper is concerned with the argument that the identification of Takagi Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models from training data should involve an important feature between data fitness and model complexity. One hand a (T-S) fuzzy model with a large number of fuzzy rules may encounter the risk of having an approximation capable of fitting training data well. On the other hand it may be difficult to run this fuzzy model structure due to heavy computational cost. In order to facilitate the development of a balance between these requirements, a Higher Order Singular Value Decomposition (HOSVD) based T-S fuzzy model reduction is introduced using the well-known Yam SVD fuzzy rule-based approximation technique.

This paper presents a novel watermarking technique for digital audio signals. A visually recognizable binary image served as a watermark is embedded into an audio signal in discrete cosine transform domain. In order to enhance robustness and make good use of masking characteristics of the audio signal, the techniques of pseudo-random permutation and energy-based permutation are used during watermarking. The experimental results show that the proposed watermarking technique is robust to several signal manipulations, such as filtering, compression, and so on.

An industrial boiler process has complicated characteristics, such as time-varying property, large delay, nonlinearity and multiple-variables coupling. For its control, a multiple control algorithm of fuzzy-PID control strategy with Smith compensator and an intelligent weight function is presented in this paper. Simulation and running results show that this algorithm has good performance, small overshoot and can reduce the static error effectively.

In wireless multimedia services, the system can provide a user with multiple data rates. This paper focuses on the combined control of rates and powers for the system, in which a finite number of transmission rates are available. This problem was first addressed by Kim, Rosberg and Zander (see Proc. IEEE VTC Fall, p.1653-57 1999) and two distributed power control algorithms were suggested. One of the suggested algorithms there is called selective power control (SPC). In this paper, we extend SPC by combining it with the active link protection (ALP) scheme. The main purpose of such an extension is trying to guarantee the minimum rate to users and to minimize the number of rate changes by smoothing the realized CIRs. Computational experiments are carried out on a DS-CDMA system. The results indicate that the modified SPC achieves smaller outages and less rate changes while giving the same or slightly higher system throughput, compared with SPC.

Morphological filters were designed for extracting spike waveforms, and then the background EEG was obtained by subtracting the detected spike waveforms from the EEG with spike . The proposed method was evaluated by using simulated EEG data, which consisted of a summation of EEG without spike and model waveform of typical spike. The background EEG separated by the method was processed by the automatic background EEG interpretation.
