Beamforming technology is mainly applied to increase the energy utilization efficiency in wireless communication, and to enlarge signal transmission range via multiantenna technology. The beamforming technology presented in this paper is distributed collaborative beamforming (DCBF) technology, which is a branch of cooperative communication. In this paper, we propose a phase synchronization algorithm to achieve DCBF in a distributed array. The proposed algorithm consists of two steps. First, in order to improve the convergent speed of the phase alignment, we traverse all N possible initial phases of each node to determine a local optimum iteration point. Then we perform two-bit feedback iteration to ensure that the normalized received signal strength (NRSS) reaches the threshold of cooperative beamforming. Numerical results demonstrate that proposed algorithm offers better phase synchronization performance compared with the classical one-bit feedback method and two-bit feedback method. © 2021 IEEE.

How Regulatory Orders and Public Fear Affect Vehicle Mobility Under Covid-19: A Global Perspective from Urban Overall Vehicles Using Multisource Data

As one of the largest pandemics in human history, COVID-19 has dealt a heavy blow to the global economy and social life. Although the pandemic situations in most countries have been stable, lessons are highly needed to learn to get more prepared for the future. In the field of transportation, the impact of COVID-19 on public transit and shared travel has been extensively studied with a relatively consistent conclusion. However, how and why the overall vehicle travel demand (including public and private) changes have not been fully addressed. This paper investigates the impact of COVID-19 on urban overall vehicle mobility as to the magnitude, duration, and driving factors. To this end, the Prophet time series model was introduced to predict vehicle mobility without COVID-19. By comparing the predicted with the real value, the mobility loss was obtained. The causes of the loss were deeply explored by applying multiple linear regression, especially focusing on the interaction effects of the strictness of regulatory orders and public fear. A large-scale dataset with more than 4 billion raw data was built for the empirical analysis from different sources, including a three-year city-level Automatic Number Plate Recognition data and data crawled from websites relating to explanatory variables. Results show that urban vehicle mobility loss almost all occurs during the national outbreak period, which is 29.66%. The factor that represents nationwide confirmed cases has a positive lagging effect on travel mobility loss, and the lag time is around seven days. Loss of urban motorized travel demand is largely caused by the interaction of perceived risks and control policy. The marginal effects of the factors work differently, indicating strong evidence of the existence of caution fatigue and shedding light on the impact mechanism. © 2024, The Authors. Bangladesh, as a developing nation, faces persistent challenges in satisfying its energy demands, primarily due to its limited natural resource reserves, particularly natural gas. Natural gas is considered a crucial factor in the country’s socioeconomic development and serves as the main driving force for its industries and power plants. Nevertheless, its unregulated and extensive utilization poses a threat to the sustainability of all sectors, making it imperative to reduce its consumption. This study focuses on decreasing the consumption of natural gas in the domestic sector by advocating the adoption of induction cooking. In this context, the electrical energy needed for cooking will be derived from the readily accessible rooftop and floating photovoltaic (PV) installations within a particular community. This approach not only satisfies the community’s electrical energy requirements but also contributes to mitigating the country’s energy crisis to a certain extent.

Influence of different loads on PCDD/F removal by SCR during municipal solid waste incineration

This study was conducted on a full-scale (500 t/d) municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI), investigating the influence of different loads on the emission of polychlorinated dibenzodioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs) and their removal by selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system. The total concentration of PCDD/Fs at the SCR inlet under 100% load was higher than that under 80% load. The changing loads caused different distribution characteristics of PCDD/Fs at the SCR inlet, and the dominant congeners changed from high-chlorinated PCDDs (80% load) to low-chlorinated PCDFs (100% load). Moreover, the increased load enhanced the removal efficiency of PCDD/Fs by SCR from 17.3% to 64.2%, which was influenced by the inlet PCDD/F distribution and the moisture content. The high-chlorinated PCDD/Fs with the more stable structure were more difficult to be deteriorated and the high moisture content can weaken the catalytic activity of SCR catalysts. Correlation analysis was used to study the relationship between major air pollutants and PCDD/F emissions. The results showed that HCl positively correlated with PCDD/F emission concentrations, while NOx and SO2 negatively correlated. The results of this study can provide a reference for MSWI to operate properly under variable loads. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

10kV distribution lines have low lightning withstand level and are easily affected by direct lightning or induced lightning, leading to insulator flashover or even tripping. In order to study the influence of insulated cross arm on the lightning withstand level of 10kV overhead distribution line combined with the actual situation, this paper first built a 10kV distribution line model, carried out lightning impact comparison test of insulated cross arm and iron cross arm, and obtained the lightning impact insulation strength of tower U50% under different cross arm types. Then, the numerical calculation method of lightning induced overvoltage of 10 kV overhead lines is proposed, and the self-defined lightning induced overvoltage calculation model is established by using MODELS language. Combined with the actual situation of 10kV power supply line of an oil transmission station in southern mountainous area, a co-simulation model of direct lightning strike and induced lightning overvoltage of 10kV distribution line was established by using ATP-EMTP, and the improvement effect of insulation cross arm on lightning resistance level was quantitatively analyzed. Finally, the effect of the device to improve the level of mine resistance is verified by the actual operation. The results show that replacing the iron cross arm of the cement tower with the composite insulating cross arm can significantly improve the lightning impulse insulation strength of the tower by U50%, which has the most significant effect on improving the lightning withstand level of the induced lightning of the line, followed by the lightning withstand level of the top of the lightning rod tower, and the lightning withstand level of the lightning stroke line has little improvement. The research results can provide reference for lightning protection design and transformation of distribution lines. © 2023 IEEE.

Restoring images that are degraded by visual artifacts like noise, blurness and other environmental visual artifacts like shadow, snow, rain, and haze is a challenging task. From literature, it can be seen that there are many model-based as well as blind restoration methods that have been proposed to restore an image degraded by a single artifact. In most practical cases, the image is degraded by more than one artifact. Complexity arises while trying to estimate degradation function using conventional techniques where images are degraded by multiple visual artifacts. To the best of our knowledge, there has not been any generalized method proposed to tackle this problem. In this paper, we propose a methodology using conditional adversarial networks for blind image restoration of images that are degraded by multiple artifacts. To analyze the performance, ISTD dataset (meant originally for shadow removal) is used by augmenting it with different types of noises and blurness. The network has been trained on this data and has been analyzed how it behaves during the addition of each artifact. Various image quality metrics like Peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), Mean squared error (MSE), Structural similarity index (SSIM), Blind/reference-less image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) and Naturalness image quality evaluator (NIQE) have been evaluated to validate the performance of the proposed method. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.

Unmanned aerial vehicle assisted (UAV-assisted) wireless communication network is a promising paradigm of wireless communication network. In this paper, we apply the evolutionary game to the UAV selection process of ground user equipment (UE). Specifically, we first establish a UAV-assisted uplink wireless communication model, and then we use replicator dynamics to describe the process of evolution game. Finally, we propose a dynamic UAV selection algorithm based on evolutionary game with low computation complexity. The numerical results prove the effectiveness of our developed algorithm in UAV-assisted wireless communication network.

Train tracking distance control is critical to ensure safety and enhance the transportation capacity of urban rail transit. The widely used control methods relying on the dynamics model of trains may not achieve ideal performance because of the inaccuracy of the dynamics model and delay of control commands execution, especially in the Urban Rail Transit scenarios. To overcome these limitations, this paper presents an intelligent tracking control method NN-MCTS combining a deep learning model with Monte Carlo Tree Search (MCTS) to cope with the tracking distance minimization. The deep learning model adopts a neural network (NN) to characterize the relationship between control command and actual train dynamic, while MCTS regards the control problem as a decision-making process leveraging the trajectory output of NN to obtain the reward of the corresponding control sequence. We extracted 20000 actual state trajectory segments of trains of Chengdu Metro Line 8 to train the deep-learning model, and additionally continuous trajectories as the known state of the train ahead to verify the effectiveness of the search algorithm. Experiments show the advantages of the proposed method in accuracy and stability compared with PID and real-time compared with MPC method.

To improve the disturbance rejection ability and repetitive tracking accuracy of manipulators,a composite iterative learning control(ILC) scheme via generalized proportional integral observer(GPIO) is proposed.A high-order polynomial is first employed to model the time-varying disturbances that include unmodeled dynamics,parameter uncertainties and load fluctuations.A GPIO is then designed to estimate the disturbances and high-order time *** introducing estimations into a PD-type ILC at each iteration,a composite control scheme is obtained,such that the undesirable influence of time-varying disturbances can be effectively attenuated in the repetitive tracking process of *** this paper,the rigorous stability analysis of the closed-loop system is presented to guarantee that the tracking error exponentially converges to zero as the iteration number tends to *** effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is finally verified by simulation results.
