Flexible tissue modeling plays an important role in the field of telemedicine. It is related to whether the soft tissue deformation process can be accurately, real-time and vividly simulated during surgery. However, most existing models lack the unique biological characteristics. To solve this problem, a high-fidelity virtual liver model incorporating biological characteristics, such as the viscoelastic, anisotropic and nonlinear biological characteristics, is proposed based on the finite element model. When simulating the resection of diseased livers, the model undergoes a plastic deformation process where the model loses elasticity due to excessive deformation, but does not reach the cutting fracture threshold. To improve the fidelity of the liver model, this study is the first to introduce the viscoplasticity of biological tissues to the liver model. The 3DMax2020 and OpenGL4.6 were used to build a liver surgery simulation platform, and the PHANTOM OMNI manual controller was used to sense the feedback force during the operation. The proposed model was verified from three aspects of accuracy, fidelity and real-time performance. The experimental results show that the proposed virtual liver model can enhance visual perception ability, improve deformation accuracy and fidelity. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In high-speed railway, designing a reasonable controller of train control system is an important way to enhance the transportation capacity, while considering more dynamic behaviors of the preceding train, such as position, speed and acceleration etc, through V2V communication. In this paper we propose a novel method towards the safe inter-train distance minimization problem via reachability analysis and mixed H 2 /H ∞ control. Firstly, by considering the disturbance behavior of the preceding train, a linear closed-loop system is modeled, in which the gains of a state feedback and a state feedback/feedforward, refer to controller A and controller B respectively, are designed using mixed H 2 /H ∞ control theory. Then, the N-step forward reachable set for the two given controllers is presented to compute the maximum position error, which determines the minimum safe inter-train distance. Furthermore, backward reachability analysis algorithm is used to find the maximal initial state set, which guarantees that the state trajectory stay within the safe set in presence of disturbance. Finally, the proposed method is applied to a typical emergency braking scenario during two-train tracking. The experimental results show that the safety margin can be reduced by 54% and the maximal initial state set can be enlarged conspicuously when a feedforward term is used in the controller.

Compressed sensing (CS)-based techniques have been widely applied in the grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) to a single-antenna base station (BS). In this paper, we consider the multi-antenna reception at the BS for uplink grant-free access for the massive machine type communication (mMTC) with limited channel resources. To enhance the overloading performance of the BS, we develop a general framework for the synergistic amalgamation of the spatial division multiple access (SDMA) technique with the CS-based grant-free NOMA. We derive a closed-form statistical beamforming and a dynamic beamforming scheme for the inter-cluster interference suppression when applying SDMA. Based on this, we further develop a joint adaptive beamforming and subspace pursuit (J-ABF-SP) algorithm for the multiuser detection and data recovery, with a novel sparsity level decision method without the accurate knowledge of the noise level. To further improve the data recovery performance, we propose an interference cancellation-based J-ABF-SP scheme (J-ABF-SP-IC) by using the initial signal estimates generated from the J-ABF-SP algorithm. Extensive simulation results verify the superior user detection and signal recovery performance of our proposed algorithms in comparison with existing CS-based grant-free NOMA techniques. © 2023, CC BY.

This study emphasizes a multi-pronged approach to improving the energy efficiency of Multi-Effect Evaporator (MEE) in the paper industry. By incorporating traditional Energy-Saving Schemes (ESSs) and innovative renewable energy sources, the study demonstrates significant potential for reducing energy consumption and environmental impact, making it a decisive pathway for industrial sustainability. Key ESS strategies include Thermo-Vapor Compressors, Feed Preheaters, and Steam- and Feed-Split, which are employed to enhance Steam Economy (SE) to evaluate MEE efficiency. This integration results in a 67.93% enhancement in SE, reducing energy consumption significantly. Further, SE enhancement is achieved by integrating flash tanks that capture and reuse excess heat, which boosts SE by an additional 5.89%, leading to a total improvement of 73% without additional energy consumption. A significant innovation in the study is the integration of Linear Fresnel Reflectors (LFRs) based solar collectors and turbine-based wind energy sources to power the MEE and reduce reliance on conventional energy. This hybrid system decreases energy dependence by 62% for the base MEE and 34% for the hybrid MEE. The results are validated by comparing them with existing studies, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed method and offering significant energy and environment savings. © 2025

Distributed end-effector formation control for networked 2-DoF flexible-joint manipulators with partially underactuated agents

The presence of faulty or underactuated manipulators can disrupt the end-effector formation keeping of a team of manipulators. This paper investigates the distributed end-effector formation control of networked planar two-link manipulators with flexible joints, emphasizing cases where some agents are underactuated. The underactuated agents can be active–passive (AP) manipulators, where only the first joint is actuated; passive–active (PA) manipulators, where only the second joint is actuated; or a combination thereof. First, we establish an equilibrium property for the discussed underactuated manipulators with flexible joints. Building upon this property, we introduce the novel concept of virtual end-effectors for manipulators, whose positions serve as intermediate variables in the controller design. Then, we extend the distance-based and displacement-based formation controllers to accommodate this group of manipulators by coupling virtual end-effectors, rather than actual end-effectors used in existing works. Finally, we investigate the set of desired and reachable shapes for the networked end-effectors to highlight how the presence of underactuated manipulators affects the applicability of the proposed controllers. This analysis demonstrates that the distance-based method accommodates more underactuated manipulators in the group than the displacement-based method. We validate both our analysis and the proposed distributed controllers through numerical simulations.

In most terrestrial wireless network systems, MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) technology can be used to make the system maintain a lower bit error rate and outage probability while gaining greater capacity gain, so more and more researchers have tried to apply MIMO technology to satellite mobile communication systems to alleviate the problem of increasingly crowded orbital locations and increasingly strained frequency resources. In this paper, the channel capacity, bit error rate and outage probability of 2 × 2 dual-polarized mobile MIMO communication systems are studied in-depth. First, when the antenna’s XPD (Cross-Polarization Discrimination) is greater than 0, in a certain range, the channel capacity increases approximately linearly with the XPD increase. Second, the BER of the system under BPSK modulation is analyzed. When the SNR is large, the system can maintain a sufficiently low BER;an analysis of the outage probability of a distributed MIMO system shows the system can maintain a sufficiently low outage probability when the SNR is large. Taking into account the particularity of the satellite mobile communication channel, the influence factors of Rice channel are added in the analysis process. The analysis of these properties of the dual-polarized satellite mobile MIMO communication system will provide strong support for the future development of satellite MIMO technology. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper mainly discusses the method of fast and accurate estimation of carrier frequency and pseudo code phase for burst short pulse DSSS communication signal. In this algorithm, PMF + FFT is used to acquisition the signal and estimate the coarse value of carrier frequency and pseudo code phase. Then LM algorithm is used to solve the maximum likelihood function of the signal, so as to obtain the accurate estimation of carrier Doppler frequency and pseudo code delay. Using this algorithm, the carrier frequency and pseudo code phase can be estimated accurately in a pseudo code period. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Designing high-performance heterostructure catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation is a promising research area. In this study, we employed a self-templating strategy using Prussian blue analogs (PBAs) precursors as source design to fabricate CoFe/C heterostructure catalysts. The slow-speed coordination renders the CoFe PBAs precursor with highly ordered crystal structure and less coordinated water, resulting in an idea carbon-encapsulated CoFe bimetallic catalyst (CoFe-S-T) with more high-valance metals and graphitized carbon layer in its heterostructure, which is proved of superior catalytic performance for tetracycline (TC) degradation through nonradical pathway in PMS-driven oxidation. The higher CoIII/CoII ratio and surface oxygen content make CoFe-S-T an excellent catalyst by boosting 1O2 generation, which is the predominant active species. Besides, CoFe-S-T has a high proportion of graphitized carbon layer, which significantly improves the direct electron transfer pathway. Thus, utilizing precursor design in self-templating strategy is an effective method to synthesize high-performance heterostructure for PMS-driven organic pollutant degradation. © 2022, The Authors. With the increasing data size of multi classification problems, the running efficiency of classical algorithms is seriously affected. In the paper, we propose a solution scheme based on quantum enhancement binary tree support vector machine for multi classification problems. On the basis of Euclidean distance binary tree support vector machine, the scheme quantizes the sample data. Aiming at the two parts of Euclidean distance and kernel function which consume a lot of computing resources in the classical algorithm, a general quantum circuit for the inner product of quantum states is constructed. By combining the parallel computing ability of the quantum with the classical algorithm, the exponential acceleration of these two parts is realized. Aiming at the linear equation of the classical algorithm which consumes a lot of computing resources. A quantum circuit based on quantum singular value estimation is proposed. Using the acceleration advantage of the quantum computing in matrix computing, the quantum enhancement of this part is realized. The experimental results show the proposed scheme has at least polynomial reduction in the time complexity and spatial complexity compared with classical methods for solving multi classification problems. © 2022, The Authors.
